Goodnotes 5 was my first goodnotes, so I didn't know they released separate apps as updates instead of just updating already existing ones. Well then.
6 does have some neat features, but nothing I see so far that would justify me buying another goodnotes app you know 😅

Well, I hate to tell you but it is actually the same app. Turn off your auto update because Goodnotes 5 will update into Goodnotes 6, and you’ll need to end up paying these subscription/ one time fees for it.
Ya I didn’t realize there would a completely separate seeming app but I think it is an update since it looks like they’ll stop supporting GoodNotes 5 in September :( I think you do get a discount right now though! The more recently you purchased GoodNotes 5 the bigger the discount! But agreed, still annoying!!

Im so mad I just buyed it at the beginning of the year of my nursery nurse training and now i have to buy a new one to have access to my school stuff urgh. Thank you so much for your video tho! You can return To GoodNotes 5. You bought ist and dont have to pay again.
In the Main Menu tap the Gear Icon, Settings, Downgrade and switch the toggle back

Developer here, shouldn’t be that difficult to add, they probably just forgot to and will add with an update.

haha even as a Hong Konger I found the title confusing lol I thought it was a HKDSE Chinese exam practice but turns out it is HKDSE math (Chinese version) practice!
HKDSE means Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination btw!

Thanks for video. Helped. Especially when it Put me in User 2 trial version, fine (User 1 is free version?) but won’t let me do the one time payment, Only does subscription for each year price. And it says you Cannot do anything about that until renewal period comes up at end of your year. Could be their detriment since will give me year to evaluate if they are making it worth it. And time to research other options out there that have made their own changes. Let us know if you are able to do the one time fee way you wanted?
Another great feature: In Typing Mode it is not only possible to enter the text via the keyboard. If you still handwrite the text there with the stylus, it will be automatically converted to typed text!

Thank you for giving detailed information about GN6. But I do have some questions about it. 1. Is the color on the notes navigation adjustable so it's not blue but orange? Do the pencils work any different than before? And is the hyperlink function for jumping between pages and on websites still the same or did they improve it by making it more accessible?
So the colour on the notes navigation I don’t think you can change as that’s part of the UI, it’s just the folders you can change. 2) pencils seem to work the same and 3) same with links I believe. The only new features they’ve currently noted is the ones I showed from their website but seems like there’s more to follow!

I went to purchase the new version and it gave me a partial tab in the upper left hand screen and said to double tap. When I tapped it took me back a screen and didn’t allow my purchase to go through. How did you purchase yours? Great video by the way, it convinced me to buy the new version, well, I’m trying to buy it.
So I actually just initiated the free version! I can’t seem to figure out how to actually buy it! I don’t know if we have to wait for the end of the free period or what. If you’re saying that its taking you back to GoodNotes 5 when you try to update what you can do is search for GoodNotes 6 site on safari web and then retry to download it again there. For some reason when I first went to the App Store it didn’t actually update to GoodNotes 6 either!
Does anyone know if - and if so how - it is possible to change or edit a mathematical formula once it has been converted?
I believe if you use the lasso tool, you are able to edit the formula! You can’t change the font but I thought you could use lasso and edit, a bar pops up near the bottom
Be careful guys: They limit the one time purchase to one platform only!! That’s very uncool by them that you have to use the subscription if you use windows and iPad

Okay this is slightly confusing to me, so I bought the full version of Goodnotes 5 less than a month ago, and lets say these new features aren't justifying the upgrade for me, does the mean that ill still have to pay to use goodnotes, or is it just that you have to pay more to use the new features, and the one time payment for goodnotes 5 still works if you don't want to upgrade.
You can still use goodnotes 5 if you already paid, but there won't be any more feature updates.
I personally don’t think it’s worth it to pay for basically an update for features I don’t really need. I’m content with GoodNotes 5. It does what I need it to do.

I updated bc I thought there was more things in the upgrade. I am sorry I did. Also, for the few upgrades they offered I now have to learn the changes, ugh!

I updated The App Not Realising that I had to pay and I hap to get my grandma to undo the update I means it’s really unfair cause I only got my iPad last year and I paid 10 quid for it it’s ridiculous I’m not paying again!

Very disappointing that they still haven't figured out a way to synchronize your ipad notes with the Windows or the Android app. I guess I'll stay with GN5 until they add cloud sync, otherwise it's just not worth it for me

I have to disagree with you on just one aspect: I'm right-handed (like you) and I don't think it made any sense that they moved the backspace button to the left side of the screen! I just hated it!

You’ll have to update to Goodnotes 6 at some point as they’ll stop supporting Goodnotes 5 in September of this year!
You can actually stay on Goodnotes 5 but you will not get any updates, so if you want updates etc. you‘ll have to buy it again unfortunately

If you have paid for GN5, then it is yours to keep! If you are a free user, then there is no point being on GN5 and GN6 free version offers more.

@@MomYePlansI'm from Spain so when I got the free trial I went to buy and it shows the subscription, but then you click "other payments" or something similar and it redirects you to the page, including the discount (in my case it went from 40€ to 36€)

i was hoping the math conversion would solve basic equations. Would be super useful for digital budgeting/tracking if it went from handwriting>equation>sum

Honestly, this would be a $100 upgrade for me. Being able to create long-form evaluations and then have it update - like really, really old MathCad, but for the pencil, would make my life so much better.
Scribble already existed btw and you could already erase with the pen before the update 😅

You probably own gn5 and you updated to the free trial of gn6. To keep the unlimited notebooks you have to either pay for gn6 or go to setting and downgrade to gn5 again
