“I’m scared of needles and blood!”
“I’m too old to start a new career.”
“Medicine is too expensive!”
Despite all these reasons, yes - you can still be a doctor! I hope the insights I give here encourage you to find a way, not an excuse.

Doc aura. Thanks for this motivation blog of yours. Im 32 right now. Just retook my nmat and finally getting into medschool by august. After 11 years working in the government as a nurse and finally decided to be a doctor. Its quite alot convincing for my family and they have assured for support. Excited and anxious to get back to university but i know i can do this. Laban lang! More power to you doc. Keep the blogs coming.

Some ups and downs here and there but found friends who helped me alot since first year. Alot of new learning, great refinement of previous learnings and much of unlearnings as well. No regrets at all. 😁

Hi ate! Though I am still in highschool (g12) I have been really planning about my future career. I have already made up my decision to enter medschool after college since this is what I have been aiming for a very long time and I know that my family wants me to pursue this line of profession as well. I have been watching you since your first DoktAura video and I really love your channel because I can really relate to what you are talking about since it is focused here in the Philippines which is helpful to the Filipinos who are aspiring to be working in the medical field.
Uhm Ate, I would also like to suggest some video ideas incase you would like to try and film them for us. Tehee:
1. Things I should've known before entering medschool
2. Routines: morning, night, or even weekend while in medschool.
3. Tips on how to properly manage your time (because I heard that medschool demands a lot of your time. Some even say that being a med student requires a lot of sacrifice, including social life)

@@is2275 since our lectures are still done online yep I still have a full time job at a private law firm here in my province, good thing they are allowing me to have my online class even in my workplace( my employer is very supportive actually) but still manage to fulfill my obligations on time. I started attending my face to face class for clin lab this month ( CHED already gave the school the go signal, 5 days per month only). Mahirap but if youre really motivated and committed for the current set up kaya naman, laban lang talaga 😊

Hello Doctor Aura. I'm so inspired with this video since my sister is an on-going 2nd year Med student and me, as an ate who's currently working as a nurse here in Singapore, finds it hard to support my sister financially. But I still believe she can do it without thinking of the finances. But there are relatives who discourages her to continue studying kahit hindi naman sila ang nagpapaaral. Tumigil nlng dw muna kasi marami nang utang at maliit pa sweldo ko as a nurse. But yeah, this inspired me a lot. Thank you for sharing. 😊

I’m losing hope because of finance and the passing years so I decided to work first then go to med school later (really later), and sometimes I think, what if I’m too old for med (im 21 now) and yes I think that way, thank you for this content, I always go back to your vlogs to be inspired again and keep an eye on my dreams

Kakatapos ko lang interview for a scholarship para Medschool. And sobrang down na down ako kasi I was asked of how I failed 2 subjects during my premed. I am not smart enough but I know I really want to become a doctor but then dahil sa sinabi sa akin na baka di ko kayanin nag doubt na tuloy ako sa sarili ko kung kaya ko ba talaga. That is why nag search ako videos here in youtube and luckily I bumped into your video and medyo gumaan gaan ang pakiramdam ko. Knowing how difficult medschool is but doing my very best and focusing on that MD goal siguro makakaya ko.

Hi after 4yrs of working in a food manufacturing company (i was happy working there) but deep inside me i know i want to be a doctor thats the job i really want, especially now that this covid19 pandemic hit the world lalo ko nafeel na kailangan ko mag silbi sa bayan na mas kailangan ng maraming doctor ng Pilipinas, i was more eager to pursue medicine at the age of 24. Hopefully i can this year.

i agree po sa #2. Im a grade 12 student and im really serious in taking up medicine. When i was younger, im really afraid in blood and always disgust in human's body. Since i love science, i told myself to take up medicine. So i tried to exposed my self in watching medical dramas, operations and so on and idk but i slowly love seeing bloods, broken bones and open wounds and etc. I really find it amazing thou sometimes i still find it a lil bit disgusting. I hope you'll continue in making this kind of videos po cuz it's really helpful!! Thank you for the advices.

Hi Doc Aura, I really like your videos because I can relate to it and doc your positivity is outrageous. You're a ball of sunshine. Anyway, I'm a graduating pharmacy student now and I really want to pursue med school but even though my parents don't directly told me not to I know that they don't want because they are really concern of my health(cancer survivor here) and they always ask me if I don't get tired reviewing and studying and lastly, the expenses, but yeah I heard some scholarships and grants for medicine from my school and professors. I know that my parents only want the best for me, and they know best 😊. But as the saying goes, “kung uukol, bubukol” and if it's God's will it will happen. Thank you po for your encouraging words!💕

Mahilig ako sa science at sa pagaaral and I want to do something practical eith my hands. It interest me. Ang problema, ayaw ko mahing pabigat sa parents ko. Wala kaming pera. Pero i will try. I actually wanted to become a doctor before but i've put it a side for quite sometime and just recently I am torn between my decision of I should pursue taking medicine this year or not because of my age. Doc aura, actually nagstruggle talaga ako ngayon sa aking sarili. I'll be senior clerk (3rd yr) in med this upcoming school yr, pero nawawalan na po ako ng kumpyansa sa sarili, dapat kasi intern na ako ngayon pero, I failed in genpath and microbiology. Takot na talaga akong maranasan ulit yun sa 3rd yr. kasi super hectic talaga ang sched ng 3rd yr compare sa 2nd yr, at ayoko ko na talagang maulit yun. Alam kong na disappoint ang mama at kapatid ko, at hanggang ngayun hindi alam ng mga friends at relatives ko ang nangyari. Sinisisi ko talaga ang sarili ko kung bakit ako bumagsak. I hope, I can hear from you ate/doc aura.

older people know what they want. Some people only realise their purpose in life around the age of 40-50, because it's the time that they have gotten other stuff out of the way (getting married, having children, paying mortage etc etc). Age is just a number, be happy because some people never even get to the age of 30 and beyond and some people reach the age of 80 without knowing their life purpose...

Sir, to answer your question, I have all those too. Kapag unstable hands makakatulong Vit B complex. Sweaty hands pwede naman yang mapunasan at maghanap ng solusyon sa google. Malabo ang mata? I'm wearing glasses and contact lenses. I'm a dentistry student so mas nakakatakot yung case na unstable hands and sweaty palms. All through out, okay naman. Dito satin sa pinas wala namang physical exam bago ka makapasok ng school unlike sa ibang bansa, so we're at advantage. Don't worry! Those problems that you have can be helped.

Ate your video is really helpful because I'm really planning to pursue medicine after college because that's my dream ever since I was a kid and I think I'm smart enough, an honor student perhaps but I have no guts to really go for it and this really helps me to make my decision.
