When the reporters ask questions related to the topic of the press conference, he answers them. However, if the topic is about other issues, he walks off. He did answer two questions this time. He walked off when the questions started to go from the right to protest to foreign policy. It's that simple.
His schedule is public, he has quite a busy day including being on a flight after these statements were made. The only thing lost are those who are willfully ignorant.

I’ve seen this happen in demonstrations. Good organizers plan ahead for agitators, and even co-ordinate with law enforcement ahead of the event.
I was at one event where BOTH the protesters and also the counterprotesters had agitators. That was wild.
Our group all stepped aside as planned. The agitators on our side left. But meanwhile, on the other side folks started punching police and it turned into a riot.
A detail escorted our group back to the cars. On the way, they thanked everyone for being cooperative.
Ironically, we were protesting police violence. 😂 Not THOSE police though. And they understood that.

I switched from being a Republican, I voted for Trump in 2016. Being that I am a true Christian who follows the teachings of Jesus, I was appalled by his actions while he was in office. It made me regret my vote. I will never again vote for him or anyone like him.

The current conflict in the holy land is not very old. It began in 1948. There are people still alive today who remember the violent establishment of the state of Israel.
Also, these students don't want to see their universities use their endowments and research to go towards a military occupation and a pariah state. It's the same principle as the anti-war protests in the sixties and the anti-apartheid protests of the 80s.

At about 2:05 he talks about rights of students, including the “right to walk across campus safely without fear of being attacked”, I wonder if/how he would apply that to guns/gun regulations and school shootings. Not to get off topic, but the right to walk anywhere without fear doesn’t sound like a right any American has (not that I would necessarily advocate against it). This is small, but I hate the idea of such a false claim being made BY THE PRESIDENT (who if we believe in “should” SHOULD know better)

In my opinion, President Biden’s remarks are absolutely correct and appropriate. To use an expression more associated with Great Britain, his remarks were spot on.
They were peacefully protesting. There were a few that committed actions that were wrong, but instead of arresting them, the NYPD stormed in and started attacking the protesters peaceful or not. The majority of protesters were not saying anything hateful or antisemtic but were voicing outrage against the genocide of Palestinians!
An even greater majority knows nothing about any of this and is only there because it's the latest thing.
Yes, but if they can say “we just want them to protest *peacefully* and denounce *antisemitism and islamaphobia*” then the folks who don’t ever see the protests themselves will believe them to be hateful and chaotic riots.
