    All of the footage used in this video was captured on original hardware. I dot not use any emulation or HDMI upscaling etc to play these games. I think there is something truly nostalgic about playing the games on original consoles, with original controllers on television technology typical of the time. I currently play on a 25” Sony Trinitron that I acquired for a whole £20 from its original owner.
    To capture the games I am using an external Elgato Game Capture card and composite cables, as well as a composite splitter on the TV so I do not need the Elgato HDMI output to play along.
    If you are interested in my setup and want to know more then let me know in the comments, if I get enough interest I am happy to record a run down of the setup.

    My friend and I still quote something from the time we we rented it from blockbuster. The line goes "don't eat chicken! If you do! Eat it with a spoon!" Now we MAY have misheard the character that said it buuuuuuttt I don't think so. We still say it 20 some years later so it had to be what they said

      Haha. Love that. I hope that was the line but like you said, even if it wasn’t it has become that now. Thanks for commenting.

    As a kid i used to hang out in arcades which also had consoles hooked to tv's which could be rented for an hour or more.
    Played this game a few times and remember enjoying it quite a bit.
    Thanks for bringing me back to that. Subscribed.

    I remember playing this all the time at my husband's house when we were in middle school. This game prepared me for my obsession with the Soul series later on. Such a fun game, thanks for reviewing it. Not enough people remember it, I feel.

      Thanks for sharing, really interesting that this led you to the Souks series. I can see the connection.

    Great video and I'm surprised I never came across this game back in the day. The games I had in rotation were Killer Instinct Gold on the N64, Soul Blade on the PS1 and even Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the Mega Drive. Keep up the awesome work!

      Thanks. I so wanted to like Killer Instinct Gold but it just didn’t capture me the way that the SNES original did. I think it was the N64 controller that I struggled with for that type of game. I do own it though and pick it up every so often.

    I remember when I was a 12-year-old circa 1999, there was an Asian grocery store in my town that had an arcade cabinet of this game, along with another cabinet of an SNK Neo Geo shoot 'em up game (can't remember which one) that me and brother would play while my parents were shopping.

      I never played the arcade version but I wish I had, simply to compare the two. Thank for sharing that memory.

    I remember renting this when i was a kid, it was a lot of fun! I liked it better than Dark Rift, mostly because it had finishing moves. The hellknight was my favorite, a giant skeleton drags you to hell!

      @jaygrice  Před měsícem +1

      Hellknight is a cool character, I most often went for Lord Deimos but the whole roster was such an interesting mix. Thanks for sharing your memories.

    Would love a remastered or have this on switch online.

      Feels like they should be able to put this on the online collection but a remaster would be great to address the frame rate issues.

    I always thought this had something to do with Power Rangers.

      I always thought Deimos looked like Lord Z. Perhaps that was his appeal to me growing up.

    I remember seeing this game in Nintendo Power. Never picked it up. Can you do one on Buck Bumble?

    • @jaygrice
      @jaygrice  Před měsícem

      I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Buck Bumble. I will certainly check it out and see if I can pick a copy up.

      The joys of old school games and sharing them with your mates. (I know that can still
      Be done with discs but I imagine it happens less these days with digital)
