1. Using the driver's door, turn the key counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center(DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). Remaining remote key fobs can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new smart key fob in the transmitter pocket in the center console .
5. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next remote key fob.
6. Remove the smart key fob from the transmitter pocket and press unlock on the transmitter.
To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thank you soooooo much!!!! They were trying to charge me $170+ at the dealership to do this. So grateful to have found this and I did it myself!
You’re Welcome!
My wife key fob died on her today and she went to the dealer to pick two new one (she lost her backup) the dealer couldn't program it today so I looked up how to and came across your video, and all i want to say is thank you, your video was plain and simple and it worked the first try thanks again.
You're Welcome! glad it helped
I have used this video all 3 times my remote has busted. It’s very easy to walk through good work.
Glad it helps!
The written directions we got with our remotes did not include half of the information that's in this video. Thanks to you, it's all working now. Thank you! (#2018Impala Owner)
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
Your video worked on a 2019 Impala Premier. Much appreciated, saved a lotta💰
Great to hear!
Where was your fob pocket in the center console?!!?
Where did you buy your key i need a fob for my 2018
do you just take the key to a lock smith or do you need one to come out to you
Awesome video follow it thru don’t miss a step and this works I was able to program 2 keys for a 2017 Chevy Malibu.
This saved me $200 thank you so much
You're Welcome!
Very informative. Thank you.
You're Welcome!
Thank you!!!
You're Welcome!
Thanks a lot man it does work for flip keys you just have to keep one in the door
You're Welcome!
Like in the cylinder ? On the outside
After the 3rd 10min timing, did you remove the key from the door & place it in the middle console, or did you have a whole new key fob while the original key is still in the door?
Can you please explain what you mean by "a separate remote key"?
hey my friend i have a 2014 chevy impala with the flip key fob I'm having a difficult time programing it to my car i swap out the key from my original fob cuz is only a pin holding it in place . and follow the programing instructions and doesnt seem to work.do you know what could be the problem?
I have a flip key for a Chevy impala premier and I have one key. How can I prgoram this key.
Any advice on how to program a 2014 impala remote with non push start option? Thanks
You can find those instructions here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2014-chevrolet-impala-keyless-entry-remote-key-fob-programming-instructions-listing-7484.aspx
Thank you so much for this video, it was really helpful. I was able to program a key but now it showing "Anti theft deterrent system" Do you have any knowledge on how to reset this issue or get rid of it? Thank you
If your Impala is newer than a 2016 it will require a second key to be programed
I have a 2017 impala with push button start. If I only have one key, do I need to follow these procedures? Thanks!
Yes. There is a shorter procedure but it requires two previously working keys. You just need to re-program in your original remote after you program in the new one, as it will be erased during the procedure. So looking at the programming steps located in the description box of the video or your owners manual - You will repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote, after the new remote is programmed
how do you do second ket fob
Will this procedure work if I have one fob that is operating and came with the vehicle and I purchased a new second fob? Can the original fob be "re-programmed" after the new fob is programmed?
Yes - if you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for you original remote after the new one is programmed
What if I have 1 key that works fine, and just need to add 1 for back up? I noticed on your website, it gives instructions for no remote at all or 2 working transmitters.
You can use this procedure, you just need to reprogram your original remote as it will be erased during. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one is programmed.
Can you cancel the process before erasing the old remotes? Mine didn't come with the key cut, so I'm going to attempt to manually activate the procedure by messing with the cylinder. Thanks for your expertise
I think technically you're supposed to be able to exit programming mode by holding down the stop/start button for 12 seconds at any point during the procedure but some vehicle do seem to get "stuck" in programming mode until fobs are successfully programmed
@@PYR-Auto Holding down the start button for 12 seconds works. You just don't get any indication😂 so count slow then start the vehicle afterwards. Thanks again
Will this procedure deprogram your old remotes
Yes, it will.
I’m try this method
Hope it goes smoothly!
I used your video to Program the flip-key remote for my push button start 2019 Impala and it worked, However now I have "Service Theft Deterrent System" Message displayed.... Any ideas how to fix this or what I may have done wrong?
programming a second key should resolve the issue
I programmed 2 fobs as you described, and all the buttons work. However, the car wouldn't start it says "key not detected". It only works if I put the new fobs in the center console slot. As I stated before, I can even remotely start the vehicle with the new fobs, but the car won't start without it in the console and the push to unlock the door won't work either.
You need to purchase proximity fobs
How do you program a flip key for a 2017 Impala LT? On the manual it only shows how to do it with two programmed keys
You can find that video here czcams.com/video/-f6SAWS8iMU/video.html
Is there a specific smart key fob for the push button start vehicle?
yes - the fob needs to match your vehlice's options
How do you add 2 remotes? Does the car forget the original remote if you add another?
If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for the remote after the first one is programmed.
Will auto key and auto start work with that process?
Yes, it should function the same as your original
Hey will I be able to use a different type of key fob like the new chevy malibu key fob I have impala 2015 ltz push to start I'm getting tired of the swipe key on the side of the remote
I just wanted to know if it is possible for me to upgrade my key fob
I don't believe there are any legitimate alternatives to the OEM flip-key
Can you bypass using the key in anyway? I'm going to pull the cylinder out and see what exactly is touching and hopefully that will put it into learning mode.
Not that I am aware of
@@PYR-Auto Thanks for the support. I'll call the dealership to see if I can get a key from my vin number.
Hey my key wasn’t working properly before I tried the reprogramming steps. The car wouldn’t recognize the key was in the vehicle so I would have to place my key in the transmitter pocket to start. When I completed the first step (turning the key 5X) my screen remained black and now my car won’t start at all please help 😅 I have a flip key how do I fix this?
Did you hold down the stop/start button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode? The vehicle will not start when in programming mode. As for the key - it sounds like it may need to be replaced rather than just re-programmed
How can I cut the emergency key
Mines wouldn’t program at the end of your video you said press the unlock button but you pressed the lock button?
You need to press unlock on the Impala
Do you have instructions for the push botton inpala with 1 working fob? I want to program a second key.
What year is your Impala?
@@PYR-Auto Just answer the question please! I have the same question. Don't ask another question.
@Program Your Remote I have 1 original key and would like to program a spare, are the instructions different? Thank you
It depends, what year is your Impala?
@@PYR-Auto I got it already, used your websites intructions...it was easy
Thank you
Great! You're Welcome!
Can you make a video on how to add ankey
Yes, will be coming soon
I have chevy impala ltz 2015. The problem that after I did the key step I did not get anything on the car screen . The car doesn’t log into programming mode. Any idea?
Some vehicles only show the message on the screen for a few moments right when the door is opened or closed
I ran over my old fob with fork lift..but the metal key part is still intact..can i just buy a cheap 2015 impala key fob snd try same procedure??
Yes, you just need to make sure buy the fob specifically for a push button start vehicle. The flip keys can come both prox (push button start) and non-prox
I can not find anything on CZcams or Google about this PROBLEM . Not even one that say's to take it to the Dealership.
Always My GOOD LUCK !!!
So I tried the 5x turning of the key in 10 sec and nothing showed up on my information display. I have one working remote with a cut key and wanted to add an additional keyfob(s). Not sure if it matters but my car is from Canada, I remember reading something about Canadian cars not programable by owners? Do I need to go to the dealer to get my key fobs programmed and give them $$$?
You are correct - unfortunately this procedure does not work on Canadian vehicles. You will need to go to a dealer or automotive locksmith if you only have one working key
@@PYR-Auto thanks for confirming that I was thinking I was doing something wrong. Cheers!
Do you have to program multiple keys separately?
Do the keys have to be cut before you can program them?
You need at least 1 cut emergency key. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each remote after the first one is programmed, you can have up to 8.
@@PYR-Auto I have my ORIGINAL CUT MASTER KEY. I ordered 2 more remotes that are not cut yet and I am wanting to program both of those key fobs.
they don't need to be cut to program - you just need at least 1 emergency key
Soooo the same remote program works for a Cadillac?
yes - this same procedure works on many different GM models
We have the one remote and it has only the flip key in it. How can we get this to work
You need two flip keys for this to work , one stuck in the door , while you program the other
Is this method also work in Canada? Because it didn’t work for me though.
No - Canadian vehicles require 2 working keys to be able to add an additional
I have a simple question. What happens when you reach the maximum amount of fobs programmable, does it reset or what? Thanks
You can have up to 8 - I believe the dash shows some kind of message stating the max number of fobs has been reached but no it does not reset on its own. The proceudre shown in this video erases all previous fobs
@@PYR-Auto Thanks and I appreciate your help. I think I bought a bad fob because it works great but will say " No Remote Detected" off and on. The battery is new, so I don't know what the problem is.
It worked for my impala 2018 but it’s giving me an anti theft error and won’t let me turn the car without the fob I side the pocket . Any idea on how to stop that?
a 2018 impala requires that at least two key fobs total be programmed
Kind of an odd question, but can I program my 2015 impala with push button start to use Chevy part number 13529664?
I'm not %100 sure but don't believe that P/N works for on the malibu.
@@PYR-Auto Another odd one, but what about Chevy PN 13529662? I see my key model (GM PN 13586785) can work in 2016 Camaros.
If you are trying to add remote start, you cant just buy a remote that has remote start on it. Your vehicle needs to be set-up for it as well.
I Don't receive the massege
" REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT."
After move the Kay 5 times
?
Some vehicles only show the messages for a few moments right when the door is opened/closed. I would recommend just going off the time rather then the messages on the dash.
Hello after I turn the key 5 times I wait the 10 mins close and open the door but the screen prompt goes away
I would recommend just going off of the time rather than the messages
I have a 2019 Impala Premier and it shows the steps in my manual but does not say anything about waiting 10 Min in between. Do I not need the 10 min time in between? Help .
There should be two procedures listed in your owners manual - one is for adding keys and the other is for when all keys are lost. Only the procedure for all keys lost requires the 10 minute intervals.
@@PYR-Auto thank you. Have not been able to get the door cap off yet....lol...wonder if they glued it on there. :)
If I do this how can I do it if the key won't come off my remote
You can't, you need the key in order to be able to do the procedure.
Where can i get a remote for my 2018 impala, my fob doesnt work but its a flip key and is push start?
check out bit.ly/CarAndTruckRemotes.
CLKsupplies.com and look up the PEPS key. That's the only one that'll work.
I try in impala 2014 but not working
will this work if your car is in anti theft mode?
not sure - I have seen it work on some vehicles and not on others when in Anti-theft mode.
I have two new key fobs. Do I have to do the whole process for each key fob?
I know this is old but what do I do if the car only turns on when the new programed key is in the little pocket
the first thing to try would be to replace the battery in the key
How do you program a second remote?
If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for the second remote
I already have 1 working remote and want to program another. What do I do?
what year is your Impala?
@@PYR-Auto 2014 ltz
so what do you do if it IS a flip key?
what year is your Impala?
I programmed the key but the key access doesn't work and it requires me to insert the new key into the socket. Anyone know what could be causing this
Is the battery in the key dead or maybe installed incorrectly?
I have the same issue. Replace the battery twice and it’s still undetected
Not the right type of fob. If your car has remote start it has to be a PEPS Key. Dealerships will charge you double what they're worth so get it at CLKsupplies.com for 30.
So what about when I have the key but all the buttons don't work
Have you tried replacing the battery in the smart key?
Thank you! I programed 2 keys today on a 2015 Impala. The keys lock/unlock and it remote starts the car, but when i get inside the car and press the start button to actually start the car/have the dash come on, it says no remote detected, so i still have to put it in the slot in order to use it. Any advice?
Thank you for the video!
You're Welcome! Not sure on that actually - usually when a vehicle is not detecting the remote the buttons on the remote will not work as well. Do you have any others keys the work properly for the vehicle?
@@PYR-Auto
I don't, but i think i figured it out... the key fobs that i bought of Amazon, dont have proximity sensor capability, so i ordered different ones and I'm going to try again once i have them. I'll post an update with the result.
Thank you for the content again!
@@catalindark Did you have thee same issues with the new key fobs?
@@terrencebrown6980 forgot to update this, no more problems, got the ones with proximity capability. It worked perfectly!
@@catalindark ok. Good to hear because I had the same issue when I did this a couple of years ago, and now I need to replace some fobs which I already have but I'm almost postive that they are not equipped with the sensor being that I got them from the same site I used the first time. So, long story short do you mind sharing where you purchased your fons from?
Are supposed to keep the key in the door
You don't need to but it will work either way
How do you program a REPLACEMENT fob? I am afraid programming the new #3 fob will wipeout our good working #2 fob.
if you already have 1 working fob there is a shorter procedure you can use on these years of impala that will not erase previous fob. You can find that here www.programyourremote.com/classified/impala-browse-249.aspx
Do you know a procedure for adding a brand new fob without deleting the existing fob(s)?
You need two existing fobs to be able to add a third yourself (that procedure is much fast). However, you can do this procedure and erase your old fob, then re-program it back in during the procedure. If you look at the steps in the description box, or in your owners manual, you will repeat steps 4-6 for each remote you want to program.
I have two exiting. One for daily use and one as a back up. Looking to add one more for a family member who uses my car.
I can send you a link to the instructions, what year is your Impala?
It’s a 2015
On a 2015 you actually only need 1 existing, I
Copied and pasted the instructions below. It’s similar to the procedure in the video, but much quicker
1. Place the recognized transmitter(s) in the cup holder.
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. Then insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key, counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4 or 5.
3. Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket. The transmitter pocket is located inside the center console storage area.
4. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
5. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press UNLOCK. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3-5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
The ready for remote 1 didn't come up
Some vehicles only show the message for a few seconds right when the door is opened or closed.
What happens when you mess up? How do you restart everything?
Hold down the stop/start button for 12seconds
What if you have to program to remotes can do the last step twice for each remote?
If you look at the steps in description box of the video - you repeat steps 4-6 for the second remote after the first one is programmed.
Didn’t work on my 2016 Chevy impala it just made my transmitter make a non stop clicking sound
Sounds like you may have other issues with the fob
didn't work on my 2019 Impala LT
Mine won’t detect it but it unlock it n everything except detect it only way to start is putting it in transmitter pocket smh
@@galaxynote5827 did u ever figure it out. I got the same issue
Do I have to wait 10 minutes? It’s about to rain on me while I’m doing it😭
actually you have to wait over 30 mins. so make sure you have enough time
Thought the car was a Chevy Malibu
My key button damage dealer charge $300 to cut and program key I’m not willing to pay that
