      The ruck is a good glassing tripod could to to shot off of with its 30lbs weight rating. You also got to figure in the cost of a ball head or anvil head.

    Good of you to show this.
    I am very content with both of my Two Vets tripods, the Recon (v.1) and the Ruck. The Recon with leveling head is obviously a more robust unit, but I usually practice using Tikka TAC models and other rifles on the Ruck with the RRS Anvil-30 head because it is a bit more of a challenge. With shooting sticks for rear support I find it to be sturdy enough and a very accurate combination. Two Vets has some excellent offerings, but they don't get the coverage that some other brands do.

      Just from personal experience with a wide variety of photography based tripods, I can tell you it won't be as stable as the Two Vets or Really Right Stuff. Especially when you add a heavy rifle in there. I'm sure it will work, but the level of precision will be less.

  • @jasoncarpenter4116
    @jasoncarpenter4116 Před rokem

    When showing the smaller tripod it didn't look like there was a ball head attached. So in saying that do these tripods come with the ball head and arca attachment or are those sold separately.

    I’m just starting my journey with long range shooting and I’m considering a tripod. I’m also a photographer and considering in converting a photography tripod for my rifle (Ruger precision). What’s your take on that? Thank you!

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  Před rokem

      The issue with standard photography tripods is that they typically aren’t rated to hold the weight of a heavy rifle, especially the ballheads. Because of that, they are usually very wobbly to shoot off of. Certainly you can do it, but there are better tools for the job. These ones in the video are rated to 100lbs. Extremely stable. It’s more than enough for shooting and obviously will still work well for photo and video.

      Carbon fiber is quite pricey. It is what it is. I use and 0311G from Shadowtech. Right now you can find them for $138.00. IT IS SIGNIFICANLY HEAVIER than anything carbon fiber, but its durable and rock steady.

      I guess like everything, it's relative. When the upper end of this type of tripod from really right stuff sells for $1500 then yes this is affordable. If a $100 tripod seems like a stretch, then this $650 two vets will probably seem extreme. Different tools for different jobs.
