What an incredible performance by Rachel! Her voice really captured the character of Lucy Gray. I thought she was captivating, everytime she sung
It’s weird how young actresses to this day get criticized way more than male actors. It shows how slow progress can really be no matter what the industry is. Talent is talent and that’s what I like to see.

She gets hate because people can’t handle her talent. She can sing, act and is incredibly pretty. I do thing she knows all of that so she can have a certain amount of confidence which is definitely needed in Hollywood. She did a great job brining Lucy Grey to live and I couldn’t think of anyone who would have fitted more perfectly especially in combination with Tom. Both of them are really talented.

She was amazing in this. I truly didn't give a f about the weird internet backlash, but after watching the movie, it made me like her so much more than I might have originally.

I do love that Davis and Dinklage, two well-known brilliant actors, are playing the Academy teachers while all the students are relatively new actors.
I just finishded watching the movie and I thought they handled the complexities of each character in a thoughtful way. I think the actors all did a grest job!

Rachel Zegler does not deserve the amount of hate shes getting. So what she sounds a bit stuck up, shes a young actress. You have to have a certain attitude to get you where you need to go in Hollywood. I think Ballad will probably be her most sucessful film yet, and I look forward to seeing her in other projects in the future. Nothing she said in regards to Snow Whites character was inappropriate, as every single live action disney princess has said something similar. Elle Fanning, Emma Watson, etc... I don't think Rachel is as bad as people say.

I think understand why she got the hate. I think when a woman is displayed as confident at times people get triggered by it. Especially in the interviews I see with Rachel- she is such a chiller. But I would see people in the comments saying stuff like, "I am glad she toned down her personality! IT seems she got PR training!"

But here in this scenario, people take it so differently. When it is a celebrity, on a video, detached from actual life. And a keyboard with anonymity is calling your name. It's so interesting!
She is a real human person, and we can't take a few things we see someone say in a certain way and run with it, giving her this huge train of crazy hate and genuinely hoping she doesn;t even get work moving forward- all again, for what? If you look at her interviews, she doesn't actually say a thing that is deserving of such hate. And you see many male actors make similar jokes, hell, but no one makes it a whole thing. We don't know Rachel! We should just appreciate the WORK she did on this JOB, and that's that. To take the time to record yourself explaining why you dislike Rachel, someone you don't even know, (sooooooo many tik tok videos) it says so much about people and how they almost, SEARCH, for the next thing to shower their negativity and bitter self with.

Literally all she said was that a movie from the 1930’s was outdated (duh) and talked about how the multi-billion dollar company with producers are remaking it to fit the times (something which is not in her control, this includes marketing the movie as a rebrand). People just wanted a reason to hate and be angry at another young and successful woman who speaks. It happened with Emma Watson, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Bailey, etc. etc. She was fantastic as Lucy Gray Baird. She sold the character, every emotion, every song, every line. I’m genuinely impressed with what she has managed to accomplish and interpret with this movie and this character.
But regardless, even if she was “snarky” or whatever. As long as she can be professional to those around her in the workplace and does her job (sing and act) well, she doesn’t need to be a good person. She’s a stranger doing a job, she doesn’t need to make strangers on the internet happy.

I think they just mean the opposite. Katniss is very introverted, controlled, and kind of asexual. Lucy Gray is the opposite. She is extroverted. She knows how to use her personality and sexuality to help her survive. It is not that she is AGAINST Katniss, she would probably love her.
The way Suzanne Collins phrased it Katniss is a Fighter forced to perform and Lucy is a Performer forced to fight

IKR? It's supposed to be 10 years after the war and apparently after some kind of apocalypse that ended the United States as we know it (literally with much coastal land swallowed up). This is supposedly set well after our timeline but 60+ years before Katniss's Hunger Games. I'm not sure the 1940's to possibly even 1960s vibe makes much sense. The tv screens seem almost pre-1970s technology when we already have large screens in our own 2020s timeline. 🤔

@mysticalmargaret6105 It can make sense if most modern day technology, infrastructure was lost in the initial world ending apocalypse wich could be a possibility considering panem was the only surviving piece of land. They may have had to literally rebuild everything after panem was created.

People only hate on her because of her commentary on her role and the changes they made in the new Snow White film. I think people forget that she's under contract to promote the film, which means she has to speak positively about it.

A little thing that annoyed me: too much low-angle shots. I know it is to make the character powerful or the moment very important or dangerous but it was a bit too much (for me).
She is great excellent choice for this prequel Hunger Games, but definitely a poor choice for Snow White.

She didn’t even say anything objectively wrong or bad. While interviewing for TBOSAS along with West Side Story she has been gracious, grateful, and kind. Similarly, online and in work environments she displays such kindness as none of her costars have a negative thing to say about her. You judge her character and “views” based on an isolated occurrence, deliberately not evaluating her as a whole person, choosing to define her solely as talented.

Hollywood adaptations of books in the last few years have been horrible. They butcher the source material every time.
I'm not going to let Hollywood ruin the beautiful memory I have of the source material Like The Witcher, and The Silmarillion, which are also some of my other favorite books, I wish I hadn't watched the show/movie adaptations. I've learned my lesson. Not taking the risk with this one, especially with someone like Zegler in it. Sometimes a beautiful book is better off remaining a beautiful book.

I don't hate this actress at all. I have never cared much about actresses or actors. I'm an author, and I value story over everything, and I happened to love this book, and there have been so many horrible book-to-film adaptations lately.
I think since she's in it the chance of this being another horrible adaptation is much higher, and the probability is already quite high. Also, I've talked to some peeps who have seen it and it's looking like I was correct. Like I said, sometimes a beautiful book is better off remaining a beautiful book.
