    As an addendum, the weight of these point protectors make them excellent as pencil extenders too!

    Excellent review as usual. I have to say I love my Blackwings, but I do love my few remaining original Blackwings more. And as for Aesthetics, I will forever prefer the aesthetics of something less expensive but equally functional. These new guys, while I appreciate their design sensibility, but their sensibility as far as price point goes can go hang.

    I'm generally more of a pen guy, but there is something about pencils that is captivating how you present them.
    I'm in school currently for Manufacturing Technologies (basically learning to become a machinist/CNC programmer) and this has given me inspiration for a project. I'll definitely consider making a point guard for a future project.

    Hi TJ, I recently went on a trip to Italy, and in Naples, I found a stationary shop and picked up a few Italian pencils. The brand of the pencils are etafelt. That was cool and I wanted to share it with you! The name of the pencil is etafelt HI-TEXT GRAD3D 062 HB-2 (That's what it says on the body of the pencil)

    Dude I just got one on Sunday at my local art supply store and it's really nice especially as some one that likes to keep my pencils sharp and it's a keeper in my Jacket pocket with my rOtering pen and mechanical pencil imma now need to buy a 12 pack soon since I sharp my pencils to much. The video is also great and I think I've seen all your videos now you why get more people to watch your videos and keep up the great work!

    zomg, thank you for the tip on twisting it. I thought maybe I'd sharpened my blackwing too far down because I put it on and it would just fall off. It didn't occur to me to twist it. Problem solved

    Lovely video love the narrative. Thanks for the wonderful review. I however use the Faber Castel rubber cap. Does the point guard fit in a Staedtler Norris? PS are there videos for 1857 Podcast?

    More of a personal preference, but I think the cheaper ones look better! The matte black is cool and all, but it doesn't look as sleek or streamlined like the others

    • @WoodGraphite

      Each to their own! I like the matte black. If there was a matte black stad I'd be all over it!

      Like all the Blackwing products, it's firmly in the 'luxury' bracket. There are other, cheaper and sometimes better options, depending on your preferences. I like the shape the most, which is unique to BW

    @spbeckman Před 5 lety +5

    I'm not a fan of blackwing and this cap enforces my belief that the brand is overpriced. I'd much prefer a Mitsubishi or another quality pencil brand that is less hyped.

      Fair enough, plenty of great choices for you to choose from!
