I don't think he knew the courier meant a live grenade, due to the "look on his face" comment I think he thought it was a dummy grenade that the soldier would find and freak out. He was a petty prankster, it would be strange for him to be alright with wanton murder.
Frankly, I think they would have gotten a bit less flak for the dialogue system in FO4 if Bethesda had decided to continue with this, having the perks you gain lend themselves to dialogue options. They tried it in Nuka-World with the Robotics Expert perk in Dry Rock Gulch, but going the whole way would have been even better, I say.

You just walk out and hide to the left of the tesla coil relay to your left, and as Elijah walks towards the vault stay out of sight, if you have a stealth boy use it, there's I believe 2 of them throughout the DLC, and wait until he approaches the terminal to go inside the vault. Then just get up and walk towards the elevator. Recall: He thinks you are inside the vault waiting for him. By the time he realizes you are not there and he activates the blue force fields, you are already on the other side of the force fields. Takes like 10 seconds to get to elevator, it beats running all the way around. I literally was able to do this with about 1600lbs of items, and it was fine lmao
@@no-barknoonan1335 Oh I know how it works, I'm just saying that you can easily run out of time to escape when you're over encumbered, and that you can still get spotted while sneaking away if you don't have very high Sneak I believe the whole point of that sequence was that we weren't supposed to be able to get all the gold without killing Elijah, and that there's a thematic message about greed not unlike those from any treasure hunting film or game like the Indiana Jones and Uncharted series. But then gamers figured out how to do it anyway, because they never settle for less than having their cake, eating it, and then stealing another one from the devs XD

What i mean is, when you are crouched, what percentage of your normal movement speed are you actually moving before counting perks etc? Can someone PLEASE give me a definite answer for this?

@Sebas7710 Yeah! You can wear power armor and get drunk enough it will actually make it so all spawned enemy’s just detect you.
