    No1 uniforms...excellent. I remember wearing that get up in 1981 or 82 at Aberdeen...took about 45 minutes to get ready...spats, bearskins, plaids...deep joy!

    Bearskins?
    What???
    They're not bearskins...and piping has never used bearskins
    it's emu feathers (and has the name Feather Bonnet)

    There has been a massive change over the years how bands play. Tuning from what I hear is way too sharp and as you can hear in this clip, the style of drumming has seen a massive change.
    So have standards gotten better, that's open to discussion and argument but don't base you opinion on an old piece of video.
    Phineas, you are attempting to say a lemon is sweeter than a spoon full of sugar.

    Listening to it yes it is good but now in 2014, any really good grade 4 or grade 3b band would be better. Standards have got so much better

      Eeee.. There's always one silly idiot around, isn't there, who can't tell shite from sugar. :-)

    • @StrathendrickPiper
      @StrathendrickPiper Před 9 lety +4

      That is completely false.
      The biggest difference is the arrangement/selection of competition tunes, and tuning to some extent.
      Probably across the board, standards are alot better now across all bands, but there is no way a grade 4 band now is better than a grade 1 band then. A top class band from the era playing the same set/tuning, as a grade 1 band today would be just as good, if not better.

      Pipe bands Certainly Grade 1 sit at a Higher Pitch , please do not say it's Absurd tho, listen to FM and tell me their piping is Absurd with a Straight face! They are Boomin!

    1970’s male long hair style and No 1’s with feather bonnet was definitely not a good look!
