I am also confused how you watch this and conclude that Magus somehow looks bored? His expression through most of the match is almost identical to Hou's - one of intense concentration and contemplation.
can anyone explain why top level women chess players aren't as barely as good as top level male chess players? I mean i get in sports where men have biological advantage and so on but in chess there's no physical component it's just the brain,so why can almost no women GMs cope with male GMs?
Men are more variable than women intellectually (and I think in other ways too) so there are more men at the top and more men at the bottom. I don't know if that applies to chess (not sure if it's even been studied enough) but it would be consistent with other areas. Women's interests on average tend to differ - at 1 *day* old, boys prefer looking at a mechanical mobile; girls prefer looking at a human face. As far as I have read, this difference persists throughout the lifespan. Men get somewhat more value out of things like chess - the pressure is on you to achieve something big, whereas for women, this is still about starting a family etc. That last one is not total - not every male gets told to become a movie star, not every woman gets told to get married and have children - but there is still this difference in expectations, even if it is more fluid/balanced nowadays. Who does Hou Yifan compare herself to, when she evaluates her life? Is it Carlsen? Her mother? Mother Teresa? Her role models/anchors for comparison are likely to include many women, none of whom have won the world chess championship.
its mostly about the amount of men playing vs the amount of women playing chess, i dont know the exact statistics but i'd have to guess it's around 90% men playing, so there will be a lot more higher level male players. even then, a lot more of the women playing chess won't be playing competitively because, like many sports, society teaches men to be far more competitive than women.
@@danielmeek3997 that doesn't make sense, Magnus became the best in the world not because there are more male chess players, but because it's what he loves and he worked until he reached his goal of being number 1, it doesn't matter if there are less female chess players, all you need is 1 to work as hard as Magnus and achieve what he has, the question is why isn't there even 1 who can come even close?
@@tomatoisnotafruit5670 because Magnus and any other top player is 1 in a million. If the top player is to be a women, basically more women need to play,
@@CypherOzzie yeah, I don't think are any inherent difference in ability between men and women. I think though women divisions don't help promote chess. In fact it says that they need help when try dont

No scarcism against alpha magnus. ...He is undisputed champion....
That's just excuses, it is her CHOICE not to be a full time chess player, so that's on her, not on anyone else.

Those casters were the worst always saying this square or that spot.
As an advanced chess player, I like this style of commentary. The woman commentator is also an IM herself. They're both very knowledgeable
not necessarily.... lol
The commentator is too fast lmao relax bro
Magnus literally seemed bored while playing this game
What? Did we watch the same video?
@@buttsufancypantsu1644 what? Did we watch with the same objectivity? Hardly any thinking on his part & lack-luster energy.
@@nubianpwr Their body language was very similar during most of this match - they both look quite engaged and seem to be concentrating on the action.
I'm a huge fan of Magnus, but I'm really at a loss here as to why you believe his body language to be indicating boredom, or how you came to the conclusion that he wasn't exercising his enormous brain during the match.
@@buttsufancypantsu1644 uh huh - sure.
Her role models/anchors for comparison are likely to include many women, none of whom have won the world chess championship.
its mostly about the amount of men playing vs the amount of women playing chess, i dont know the exact statistics but i'd have to guess it's around 90% men playing, so there will be a lot more higher level male players. even then, a lot more of the women playing chess won't be playing competitively because, like many sports, society teaches men to be far more competitive than women.
both of you gave a good reply,i appreciate it!
Not to put their skill down to luck, but you are far more likely to find men who have a brain for chess, and who have the motivation to become great at it, than women who are far fewer and far less competitive in the game currently. Basically the chances for great male players is higher than great female players because theres more of them
i don't understand before why i hate female commentator .... maybe cause there unusual talks ohh ....
because they aren't good at this 😂
