I love Italy too.
I used to live in 6 different countries and I can definitely say they are the best .
Food, culture, style, history, design, sightseeing, beaches, friendliness, welcoming, warm and much much much more.
Where you from ?
France
Wow that’s a lot of moving, would you mind saying what they were?
I went to Italia in high school and have been dying to get back since. It's gorgeous and as a Catholic who loves rustic architecture, Roman History, art, Italian food, and who is almost 50% Italian I felt right at home.
Never seat yourself at a restaurant. The couple behind us tried that and got thrown out, while we were graciously seated. Never touch the produce at a food stall; ask first. Always acknowledge the staff in a shop.
Thrown out? Wow
@@dianajennings7767 well of course. You can seat yourself at fast foods and bars but in restourants tables might be reserved or there might be a line
In other words: don't be arrogant or unpolite.
and…by the way…this happen everywhere, not only in my Country…I’m a professional traveler and wherever I went, in the restaurant..is always the same…
I like how us in the rest of the world it's just "use common sense" but for people in the U.S. is like learning new things
Friends who come to visit Italy, you have to enjoy my country, therefore, take the cappuccino when you prefer ^^, at most the waiter will widen his eyes a little, but the important thing is that you relax. What the video suggests about overpriced restaurants is true, so it is better to look in secondary streets and choose those frequented by Italian workers; during car trips, a good sign is a restaurant with a parking lot full of trucks ^^ truck drivers love to eat well and a good quality - price ratio; you are welcome and have fun in Italy .
Never had bad food anywhere in Rome, but my wife had a weakness for places with nice views in touristy locations. Food was good, but the food is outstanding and less expensive a few blocks away.
This Is the most accurate video about travel in Italy.....and i m italian 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Totally agree.
My partner and I went to Italy in 2012. We went for 3 weeks, and rented an apartment in Lucca. We felt it was the best way to experience life in Italy. Unfortunately I didn’t learn Italian, I used notes to ask questions, but then had no hope of understanding the reply 😂. I found that it was the women who mostly spoke English. We enjoyed the Italian breakfast experience of coffee, a danish, and panini. We did travel by hire car, to visit my partners grandfathers village, and that was an adventure. Our time there, in our 700 year old apartment was fantastic, we loved every minute. The people were friendly, and the food was fantastic. We had such a wonderful experience that we felt we could have stayed there forever.
Oh cool. I live in lucca

You’re welcome Charmaine!

You will fall in love after your visit because every villages, towns and cities have more than enough to offer. From architecture, food, designers wears environmental organisation and love for hospitality. You will really have overdosed of good time. Quality shopping is guaranteed.
you can order cappuccino whenever you like dont worry ahah, its just unusual but not a big deal
Not for lunch and dinner. Afternoon is fine but not for the main meals. I saw people drinking cappuccino while eating pasta 🤮
True, I’ve seen many times tourists sitting at restaurants in Rome, or Florence, or Venice etc. with their delicious pizza or pasta on the table along with a cappuccino 🤣🤣 being Italian, it definitely makes me laugh but of course waiters deal with tourists from all over the world every day and I think they are quite used to this kind of requests 😂
@@KrodinoPOOPS quelli per soldi si vendono la nonna, figurati il cappuccio.
Right, I´ve been a bartender while at University and I´ve been working at night. I cannot count how many cappuccinos I´ve served that time, it has never been a problem. I was born in Italy.
Waiters are used to this type of people behaviour
Don't think you can walk around Venice in beachwear, contrary to what some tourists believe, Venice is not a theme park. Don't attempt to dive off bridges in Venice or go for a swim in the canals, you will be HEAVILY FINED and may spend a night in jail.
Not to mention the canals in Venice are, at the same time, the main roads of the city, and it's sewer network
And also you can have a bad illness ahahahahaa
why would you jump in it, I used to live in italy and the water in venice is so polluted and dirty I wouldn't jump in even for 100,000 euros.
Leptospirosis disapproves this message
To spend a night in jail? C'mon that's abdsolutely untrue
Lived in Italy for 7 years and visited since many times, this is by far the best video I have seen on this topic. More information in 11 mins then most do in 30! And the scenery isn't bad either!
Wow, thank you! 😉
@@HungryPassport You are most welcome!
For sure, speaking some of the language in the country you visit abroad will open you up to very pleasant surprises! It is appreciated not in just Italy, but worldwide!
3:35 bottom text: it’s POLPETTE, not “polpetti” 🙂 Apart from this little mistake, as an Italian I can affirm that this video is pretty much accurate! To be honest it’s not that true that you should not expect “extreme” nightlife here, it simply depends on where are you going in terms of cities (there are some which are more inclined to nightlife as compared to others, of course) and places within that city (pubs, discos, clubs usually target different types of customers). Enjoy your stay in our wonderful Country, have fun and remember to get home at the end of your vacation a free souvenir you really can’t miss: a piece of Italy in your heart for the rest of your life! 🇮🇹
It's due to "itism" of English language, the pronunciation of letter E and supposed belief that Italians write as they pronounce. So polpetti is misspelled, but reasonable.
@@mumorini of course it’s because of that
As a fellow Italian, I can confirm.
No night life in Italy? Ahahaha This is absolutely wrong. There are thousands different places all around the country much better and more beautiful than Ibiza

My favourite country I have been going there since I was small. Our last trip was to Lido de Jesolo three years ago and this year we are going back to Lake Maggiore. We love the Lakes.
I've been to Italy a couple of times. My favorite country in EU. Your advice was spot on.
As Italian I can confirm that I saw "Spaghetti e polpette" (Spaghetti with meatballs) only in cartoons and never in a restaurant 😂
then you don t know what they eat in the other regions. spaghetti and polpette are cooked in MANY places for example in Teramo ( Abbruzzo). It s a common dish in many places probably not in your region though.
@@lenase7396 I've eaten Spaghetti and Ragù (a meat sausage with tomato, which can look like smashed Polpette), but I've NEVER eaten Spaghetti and Polpette here in Italy.

Thanks for this lovely video. Wonderful.
Great! Watching it while being in the airport about to leave from Italy..
Hats of to you (tanto di cappello). In 10 minutes you managed to condense an impressive series of topics. As a traveler and as an Italian ... Congratulations.
you can order cappuccino also at 3:00pm. It's important to not ordering it during your meals or after dinner because it's quite weird
Very beautiful country I am very proud to live in Italy
Since I'm not a big fan of water, I skipped Venice and, instead, went to Pompeii. It didn't disappoint. Also, if any readers plan to visit Italy in the future, consider adding Assisi to your itinerary ... a small, manageable, clean and adorable town.
As an Italian (from Milan) I advise foreigners to visit Northern Italy and its mountains ... No European country has as much variety of Alpine landscapes as Italy which, moreover, it shares the Alps on its borders with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia ... So why visit 4 countries when it is enough to visit just ONE? 😉
I dont like water either but Venice is a must!

Well, there's something right about it, picturing the Italian lifestyle as smoother than in other countries across Europe, but after living in Italy for more than 15 yrs, I can guarantee those people also knows how to party. There are many fun locations with some of the most skilled DJs around in the world, not to mention the fancy places if you want to look for special clubs. You just have to know where they are, that's all. And the food around the whole country is top-notch, no matter if you are looking for a good cheap meal or a very special state of the art. Have fun folks! ;-)

Best part about Italy is not it's food, beaches or monuments. It is the People. Love from India♥️
You are absolutely right! I was stationed in Naples for three years from '84-'87 and I loved it!
Thank you sir
Grazie (Thank you)! :)
Definitely. Spent three months in Rome last fall: absolutely inundated by tourists, but the Italians are so patient and friendly. Trying to speak a little Italian goes a long way, even if you make mistakes. Mille grazie!
I can confirm everything is correct, but for 2 things. Italy actually is famous for nightlife (okay, maybe we don't have exactly an Ibiza in Italy, but honestly Ibiza is nowhere else in the world): big cities like Rome and Milan are full of clubs open all year long, but also university cities like Bologna have vibrant nightlife, on top of holiday places like Gallipoli, Sardinia, Eolie Islands and Riviera Romagnola, which bustle with clubs and places where you can spend the night. The second thing is the assumption Italians don't want to talk about politics: Italians LOVE to talk about politics, they do it all the time and, especially if you come from abroad, Italians will be happy to entertain political conversations with foreigners.
Thank you so much for the great tips! We are heading to Italy in May and will use some of this great information. Grazi!
My tip is to not order an espresso every time you need to use a toilet, you'll end up having a cardiac arrest!! Order "un espresso decaffinato" or alternate with something like water or a soft drink!! Some towns and cities are beginning to install automated toilet cubicles but the "full bladder problem" remains a major difficulty, for the residents too.
I take for granted all the public bathrooms in the States, I'd hate to be stuck in a place without it lol
Thanks for the tip! Going there this sunday! :)
From an Italian this video is 99% true, very accuracy, great work!! 🇮🇹

I'd like to see a video on visiting Italy for the mobility impaired, addressing renting and parking vehicles, getting around for seniors and others who shudder at the idea of walking down a hill because of the return trip, bottom floor (floor zero) accommodations, and other obstacles that seniors or mobility impaired face.
we don't do good in that department. sorry
There are plenty of services for wheelchair users, both public and private. Just book with a travel agency that will check in advance.
Old cities don’t do good on the subject. I’ve been there twice with small kids, it was hard to get around with a stroller. It may give you a hint of it. I guess with many ours of planing you may get around to some places. It is not the case the city do not want to do a good job. The case is that more than 2000 years of history limits infrastructure changing. Not to discourage you, but be aware you won’t be able to visit many places if you use wheelchair or you walking is limited. I guess you may do this amazing trip with a wonderful planning. I hope you get there and have a wonderful time though ;)
Ahaha good luck. Won't happen
as an italian: thank you for your beautiful video. well done, spot on. 👍🙏
I have been to Italy more times than I can count. Everything in this video is absolutely correct.
I'm going nxt week so excited ..any other advice you can give
Peter LaChapelle Not everything in this video is absolutely correct. I've been living in Italy for 18 years. The country was only united in 1868. Before that the pensilular was composed of 20 different city-states, which were actually tiny little separate countries. They had their own languages and ways of doing things. And even in places where things are said to be done in a certain way, there will always be places that don't do it the way you were told. That's just the way people are.

Very helpful! Thank you. I’m Traveling to Italy for 2 weeks next week.
this information is very useful!!
Lived near Porto Cervo; clearly you’ve been relying too much on hotel pamphlets or something when you say there’s no nightlife in Italy. From July to September, the entire northern coast of Sardinia probably has the most exclusive and elite nightlife in all the Mediterranean, with perhaps the exception of Monaco. Perhaps.
Excellent video. Regarding your tip about driving in the city: I suggest renting a car from the airport rental branch. We did that in Florence, when we wanted to do a couple day trips into Tuscany, so instead fo trying to navigate the windy streets, we just took a cab to the Thrifty/Hertz branch at the Florence airport. The airport is right next to the highway, so once we had the car we were able to pop right on the highway. it saves a lot of time and stress.
LOL We stayed near the Vatican and rented a car a few blocks away. Took us two hours to navigate out of Rome towards Tivoli. But enjoyed every minute of it seeing the city. Italian drivers are also amazingly skilled and merge better than anywhere I've ever been. Got stuck multiple times in left or right turn only lanes, slowed down and made a signal and someone let me in almost immediately. Great people to be around.
Great video thanks 👌👌👌
There is so much to italy than Florence Venice and Rome! I always tell people when they come visit here ... c’è Sardegna, puglia, Sicilia, Napoli, lago di Como, le cinque terre, Tropea.

Most important tip: blend in with the locals and don't be an obnoxious tourist. Embody la bella figura. The saying "when in Rome" is the most helpful advice when you travel anywhere.
Ive been there 5 times, and would travel there many more times.
Great presentation and very good advice . I would just add that there are many (and mostly Nigerian) sidewalk sellers. Easy to recognise as they have items for sale on a blanket. These are counterfeit items as you probably would realised and are illegale and if you get caught buying one you face a hearty fine. These people work in pairs with a scout looking out for the police. They use the blanket so they can quickly grab the booty and run. I have seen this many times.
Да, във Венеция и големите градове е опасно да купувате, но на тих плаж в Пулия, където купих хубава чанта три пъти по-евтино, отколкото искаше нигериеца, нямаше никаква полиция.
I've heard so many people say that spaghetti and meatballs is an Italian-American dish and Italians don't eat it. I'm an Italian-American living in Italy 18 years. Maybe it happened that this Italian-American dish went back to a least some parts of Italy. Where I live, I can find various prepared pasta sauces in jars at the supermarket. One of them includes lots of little meatballs.
Before I got internet at home, I went to a wi-fi cafe in the afternoon and always ordered a cappuccino. The barista didn't blink. When it was ready, since he didn't know my name, he just called out "Cappuccino!" and I knew that was me.
