Intel’s 14th gen CPUs are here and… well… they’re pretty much just the 13th gen chips with a new name. Seriously. It’s the same architecture, it’s Raptor Lake-S, it’s the same process node, Intel 7, and with this 14600K in particular there is very little different. It still has 14 total cores, 6 P and 8 E cores, it still has 24MB of total cache, it still boosts to a maximum of 5.3GHz, it still has a max turbo power of 181 watts. The only spec sheet difference I can find is that the E cores can now boost to 4GHz instead of 3.9GHz. GAME CHANGING, I KNOW! There really isn’t much new - there’s a few bits like a new “AI assistant” built into their extreme tuning utility software, and “Application Optimisation” or APO which basically does some under-the-hood tweaks based on the game’s executable name, but realistically both of those things could work on older chips, but Intel obviously wants to keep them for the new stuff to make it worth you buying the newer chip.

After the Sapphire Rapids/Sapphire Rapids W launch I wasn't expecting that much from this one but it's honestly worse than I expected. If there had been meaningful power reduction (wishful thinking on that one I know) or memory overclocking or *something*, but basically this is actually more of the same. Technically Intel didn't lie since these are a tiny bit faster but when that tiny bit might as well be margin of error, well... Plus now she has a decent upgrade path to the 14700k which I have on my main machine now. So when I upgrade she has another jump. and my other kid can still use the 12600k with a 3080ti which I had a second machine that has 3080ti and my main machine which I'm waiting for the new gen cards to come on sale later this year is rumors are true.
Basically I'll have the ability for both of them two have decent PC's for a few years from my own upgrades of mine. Think it's a win win Considering it's only going to cost me $400 now to upgrade her to 1700 platform that's all my hand me down parts won't go to eWaste. So when I end upgrading again in the future The youngest will still have a great 1080/1440 system that I can if need to upgrade the GPU.

    in my place the 12600kf costs 210$ , while 13600kf costs 350$ .
140$ for 10% differece.. not worth it

12600k its more cheaper and colder than 13/14, consume a lot less energy, and cost the half price. It is still the greater choice for a budget pc.

People should learn to tell the difference between technological "innovation" and pocket milking to fund meaningless wars . . I'll keep my money in my pocket thanks

The ONLY reason one might purchase the 13600K over the 13600K is that the 14600K is a tiny bit cooler. Not all countries have a cold clime and in such countries temps are what "break" a CPU. Brilliant benchmark by the way!

Both e and p cores are higher on 14600k. 5.1 is max e on 13600k and 3.9 on e, you should know this.

    Just to add:
    Cinebench R23 score for a 12600k at 5ghz / 4ghz
    Single: 1945
    Multi: 18748
    No real IPC gains.

Let’s stick to 1440p benchmarks for bottlenecks it’s just more worth it nobody can handle 1080p when they have a 800-1600$ gpu
