- McKenna joins Love Of Quilting’s Marianne Fons to explain her beautifully simple fusible applique method. See classic quilts showcased, such as Bella Garden, Storybook Farm, Petals of My Heart II, and Naturally McKenna! Watch them create three dimensional elements! See the entire process, from tracing the pieces onto the fusible all the way through to McKenna topstitching the quilt block!
you keep talking please let her explain how to do it
Beautiful. Just a suggestion that Fons allow her guest to speak more.
Agreed. That’s the problem with Fons. Major turn off.
@@caraortega4474 agreed, why I havent bothered with Fons quilting shows in a long time. There are many others that do a much better job.
I agree. Fons talked and interrupted too much.
McKenna you are amazing. So talented
The poor guest kept losing her train of thought with the constant interruptions. Her work is so darling, I will check it out more on my own.
Just showed up in my feed. Wow that is just beautiful
I always put parchment paper over this type of work to keep my iron from getting any gunk on it.
Thanks Karen, for sharing that great idea!
😁
I've done alot of McKenna Ryan quilts and to me they are alot of fun.
Love McKenna’s kits. I’ve done 4 wall hangings. I wish the host would let McKenna speak without being interrupted!! So thumbs up for McKenna but not the host.
Mekenna you are amazing love your fabrics i really wanted to take everything in you were saying and trying to teach but the presenter, she just kept taking over interrupting you etc I’m searching to find you doing your appliqué elsewhere thank you
Wow, please just let McKenna present her lesson. The interruption are irritating
Enjoyed this, sadly the presenter was over taking over to much. Was trying hard to take it all in but lost a lot with the talking over. The lady artist was amazing. Hope to see her again with more allowance to talk and explain.
That is one perspective. Notice McKenna was nervous. Never looked at the camera plus her neckline was red. The host was doing her best to help her feel less nervous. AND…it all worked out. When we’re nervous our mind can go blank. The bottom line…this was helpful and gorgeous design. TYVM for giving us more beautiful ideas to expand our quilting. Awesome! Awesome!
Maybe she was frustrated trying to explain but being talked over.
Thankyou for the tour. Its was wonderful to see those beautiful quilts and all the hard work and skill involved in their creation. :)
Amazing! God has blessed you with a beautiful gift. You are so very talented.
I visited makinna’s studio 10 years ago. Was just fascinated with her work. Bought the little jungle pattern and made it for my baby grandson. He would get so excited when we put him on the quilt. Thanks for the beautiful designs and techniques.
First time seeing your quilts. They are absolutely beautiful. Extremely detailed, and the applique he's just perfect.
Love these nature Quilts - these are more favorite from McKenna Ryan - I try to do nature with animals and birds and i learned more today! Thank you McKenna and Fons too💚🧡
Such a helpful video. I could have watched for an hour or two more! Can't wait to begin my pattern!
I’m sorry, this is difficult to watch. I’d like to listen to the guest.
Yes, I agree with you 😢
I agree. It would be nice if the guest was allowed to teach us rather than the host talking all over her.
I can't watch this. Let the guest speak and explain. The host forces her to say what the host wants her to say, and tries to explain it for her. It's completely irritating.
I thought this was very well done and a very shared experience for both women. I was inspired. 🦋
Love McKenna’s work!!
Very informative! Thanks Fons and Porter!
Enjoyable video. Thank you. Judy
6:18 fussy cut - of course! Beautifur pattern.
I love to do applique quilts. I love your technique. I have had this idea of doing like a picture painting technique. You have done it! Thank you. Mine probably will not be as good as yours, but if it makes me happy, that is wonderful.
I do felt beaded and sequined 9rnaments and wall hangings with all kinds of snow village scenes and manger scenes which involve cutting out small to large pieces. I have done piecing with material using freezer paper and have done the decorative stitches on my sewing machine. Love what has been done with this work-just so beautiful. My granddaughter loves butterflies. I have the Flights of Fancy panel from Jordan's Fabrics to make hers with. I bought 4 panels and could do a layered look on some areas.
U
Absolutely beautiful!
Gorgeous quilts and great tips! Sometimes I layer and quilt my block before adding the applique, especially if I am only making a single piece. Then I add the applique and tack it down along the edge. I like the tip of using monofiliment thread and making a simple straight stitch. Thanks for sharing this video!
Superbe! Cette vidéo est très intéressante.
Bonne journée.
Thank you for the wonderful video
Just beautiful! So darling! Thanks for posting!
Beautiful quilt square!
This is so beautiful I’d love to an appliqué quilts this one looks more challenging but I’d sure love to give it a try
Beautiful work.
I loved the laundry piece so much I ordered it. Beautiful stuff.
just a thought: I would use a piece of parchment paper or the teflon sheet to cover the assembled work and then you won't be fearful of disrupting the arrangement with the iron as you heat set it.
would really like to have the PDF file of supplies needed and pattern. wondering if it can be emailed to me. love this technique
This was inspiring.
that is absolutely gorgeous.
Incredible!
Amazing tutorial and fabulous video thanks for sharing your beautiful ideas
Awesome!
How do you finish 3-D butterflies? This is a beautiful process. Your work is amazing.
I imagine you could use Heat n' Bond ultra hold. There are tutorials on CZcams. Joan Shay has a book call "Petal Play" that has some interesting projects.

Why is there constant interruptions? Why is the guest even there?
WOW!
I have Debbie Mumm's birdhouse book. I will be looking to adapt one of her designs.
It’s Wonderful 👌💋
Is this method useable and washable or just for wall hangings?
I love the video thank you. I do have a beginner question. How does the appliques keep from fraying. Is it the type of fabric. Seems like if you dew around raw edges it would fray, so im curious about what i dont know.
what type of fusible web did McKenna use and what type of monofilment thread
Кандай сонун керемет
I wish to you can help us have classes at namungona children's art center
Great job
Why lower the feed dogs? Beautiful work!
Hi do you go around each piece appliqué or just free motion over the whole thing
Love the quilt but major turn off with the constant interruption by the host. Would prefer her to introduce the guest and let the guest tell how she does the applique. It is very irritating to have the guest constantly interrupted.
Queria tanto a tradução em português!?
So agree!
I agree!
Let’s hope the host reads this so she can be aware that she needs to watch the show and then practice grace in her hosting role.
Hush ladies, don’t be Karens. Let’s see you do better
😯lindíssimo!
👌👌👌
Beautiful quilt. It would have been nice to hear what the artist wanted to say vs the host always taking over and talking over her.
Oi que lindo,
Too much talking over each other and host vert annoying.
Does Lori use monofilament thread in upper and bobbin thread?
Was there a supply list for this video?
beautiful
What is your favorite monofilament thread?
How do you put the backing on the quilt top when finished?
What fusible are you using? The double sided adhesive I use doesn’t keep the pieces stuck. While I’m quilting, some of the pieces are falling off!
Should you be using steam on it to adhere it well?
@@karenrichardson6767 I’ve tried it with and without steam. I have noticed that when I repeat ironing the same pieces (when I add more appliqués to that area) that’s when the fusible weakens the most. Is that normal?
I leave my iron longer and have no problem! Just about 8 seconds!
Yes the real small delicate pieces (eyes, etc) usually fall off and don't adhere to fabric so I sew them down separately. I don't use monofiliment thread. I like to create my wall art using different coloured threads.
Same question, thanks. The fusibles I have tried were all very frustrating to work with. I wish there was one I could trust to last through a washing. I recently bought some basting spray, and regretted it because it leaves a sticky film on everything nearby too. I would love to make a quilt to use on my own bed, but the idea of the raw edges makes me nervous. These are beautiful, but I would need more info before trying it.
Though beautiful, to me this isn't really a "quilt" - more like fabric art. It would be great to learn - don't get me wrong. I admire this work.
What sized needle and type of needle to use with invisible thread and machine setting . Please answer
Helllo, what kind of paper did you use? thanks
You didn't show how to attach those 3-dimmensional butterflies. I can guess but I'd like to know your expert tips on it
Tons kept interrupting n McKenna lost train of thought I’m sure and ran out of time...
Meant Fons ....she was too controlling
Where do I find the pattern for the little birdhouse?
What kind of paper is that?
My Janome machine hates mono-filament thread. I have struggled with tension, bobbins, needles etc. I've watched every You Tube video. Nothing works..so frustrating. I am currently doing a farm quilt. I have had to use matching thread and then tie off underneath. Long process.
I have a Janome 2160. I use Aurifil invisible thread on a Thread Director, smaller needle and slower speed . Works good for me.
Regular thread in the bobbin
I had the same problem with my older Jenome. Just got a Baby Lock Brilliant if I have problems with this one I'll try Meta Bonnell's tips.
I've learned to use polyester not invisible thread, called monopoly. I use Superior brand, but I'm sure there's other good brands as well. Slow down!!! It's key. I generally use a Metallic needle ... Hope this helps
I am with you, Brenda, with respect to my difficulty with mono filament thread and my Janome. Very frustrating.
How can I get this pattern, please?
Me too- i want the pattern, too
me too! never knew of McKinna's special artistry! I'd love to try!
So……beautiful…
Controlling geez, i would like to learn from your guest
The host needs to hush!!
What kind of monofilament thread?
geesh, Lady in green yaps too much and speaks over the guest making it hard to follow McKenna
Are McKenna's patterns for sale
On her website
Got there they shipped today
Let the guest talk. Stop presenting her work for her. It’s HER design, let HER explain it.
It would’ve been nice to see what the back looked like on these appliqué quilts. Otherwise good information
I can't believe the host stood in the middle of the project and made the guest try to demonstrate from the side.
The host also explained how and why the guest did things, instead of letting the guest explain the process. Not impressed with the host's style.
I realize this is an old video and may not be relevant anymore.
Por favor en español
А где перевод
Yes the guest needs to speak & explain & the host needs to let her explain
I thought you were going to show us how to do the 3-D butterfly? Somewhat disappointed. Beautiful work
Way too many ads, just get to the video, then the adds
The quilt is beautiful . I just wish that Mckenna was able to get to talk more without be interrupted and the time.
Ms. Fons, you ran over McKenna so many times that the process was constantly jolted. Why don't you let the wonderful artist do her own thing with a few well crafted questions?
Let the artist speak! Dang….
Nnnnnnnnnice
What's with the over talk? Your IT people need to fix this.
Gosto muito dessa arte. Pena que não entenda sua língua.
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing... Not impressed with Marianne Fons for over talking your guest.
Too many commercials.
I just do not trust raw edge quilting. Even with fusible, I still see the raw edge. Grr.
I am the same, mostly because I only make quilts that are meant to be used. I have a years long track record of fusible web failing after the projects are done, lol. If it were a wall hanging though, it probably stays nice over time.
Yes the host needs to be quiet - and let her explain - too much talking
Love McKenna’s work, but was disappointed with this presentation. Her most used word was “exactly” as the presenter just took over.
Too hard to concentrate on the technique due to the interruptions. Off to find an easier video. Wont bother with any more of these ones.
hard to follow, poor woman couldn't get her teaching in....
Host is overbearing, interrupts guest when she is trying to explain how to do this project, and talks over the guest.
