Date: 23-07-2019 to 24-07-2019
Day: 30°C (86°F)
Night: 15°C (59°F)
Location: Sapmi - the land of the Sami people in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Clean and remote classic northern wilderness. Fresh water rivers. Pine, spruce and birch forrest. Mountains, bears, wolves, eagles, reindeers etc. No wildlife is giving campers problems. I can't give you any information about my location, only that I am somewhere in Sapmi. You need to be the owner or get the owners permission if you want to do the same.
Consuming: Water and fish (pike).

A few questions:
1. Is the raft safe to use?
I suppose a raft like this never is "safe"... but I have used similar before and consider it a great option for something quick and permanent for getting out on relative calm water. It is stable and will float. In this case was most of the logs to rotten for using common length steel nails - but usually is nails a great way to do it and something that really speed up the process. I don't personally like using rope on a raft like this it have a tendency to work it self a bit loose over time. Drilling and inserting poles all the way though the raft and wedge the ends, is the method I consider less likely to come apart. Each hole took me about one minute to drill - so no problem if you have a propper drilling tool. Calm weather is the ideal or like in the video a small wind moving the raft example meanwhile you only have to focus on setting the fishing net and not also moving the raft... but a raft like this can handle bad weather as well, just make sure you have the energy to get the raft back to shore.
2. Is the water safe to drink?
Yes. Almost all water in Sapmi can you drink straight from the source. It comes from the near by mountains - rain or snow/ice melting.
3. Was it guts/innards under the rock?
Yes - guts/innards from fish. Show it in part 1. The stone is just a quick way to make it harder for birds to take it. Use the guts in the fishing net for attracting pike.
4. What did you use for sharpening the knife?
Wet stone and homemade strop (leather on wood) with compound.
5. Why is the fishing net hanging like that in the forrest?
Once in a while can it be great to hang up the net and let it dry, clean it and see if any thing needs repair.
6. Is the tools homemade?
Most of them… The axe, knife and saw frame is homemade. The big augur/drill is not homemade, it is an old hand forged one I bought in Danmark. I just sharpen the augur with a file.

Thank you
Sinto uma paz olhando este video, muito show as cenas, os angulos, parabens!
Awesome video! I just watched the long version yesterday :)
Hi Rune, (do you actually call yourself just Rune or Rune Malte?) I have a question: Your trips include often times canoe-trips and lots of wilderness.
Also, you say, you are from Denmark but your video location is pretty much in the north of scandinavia. How does this go together? Do you actually live in the Sapmi Area now?
I will go for a 10 days survival trip in Norway next tuesday and frankly, even though I though I had found a nice spot where I can actually swim to in a Lake close to Larvik (hopefully with some self-built raft, very much like your awesome version) I got a bit disappointed when I still saw several single huts/houses in the close area (maybe 5km) around that place. Not quite the perfect wilderness I had hoped for... your videos really much give me the impression that there is actually no one else except you with in several kilometers of range though.
Where you do your bushcraft-videos (Sapmi area) are you really "alone" there? For over a decade now I wish to get back in touch with nature again and now I am doing my first tiny steps towards that. I just feel like you have to travel very far in order to actually reach this nature... How do you experience this? (Are you really seeing nobody for several days or is there still sometimes a boat crossing your river/lake/fjord with lots of motor sound and stuff?)
Also, when you are doing these trips, how far do you actually travel to get there? Are you living nearby? Or are you actually canoeing from Denmark up to the Sapmi area??
I dont know if these questions are too much for a public comment section, it is just that I saw this to be the most direct way to ask. If you consider answering
me, you can also send me a private message instead :) (thinking about it, I actually have tons of additional questions anyways) :D
I always wanted to go into the wilderness and build my own Logging hut (pretty much like the guy from the Channel "MySelfReliance") and I ended up making complex
CG-Lego animations for kids so far :D Life is interesting :) Still I hope to reach my deepest desires within nature once I can finally stop caring too much about society and concentrate on what
my heart wants and needs most.
Thank you for being very inspirational and in my case really showing me practical steps to succeed in my own little adventure that is coming soon! :)
All the best for you and your Channel,
Sven Venohr
Thanks. I am on road trip in Sapmi - a lot more ideal for video production compared to Denmark. Some information about it here www.runemaltebertramnielsen.com/441588230
Yes you have cabins all over and power cables. Also a few motorboats and plains. But do you look close on maps can you see all of it and avoid it - you do always have options here in Scandinavia and some great options in Sapmi. For video production here in Sapmi do I usually travel 2 hours in canoe or 1 hour by hiking - need some distance to the noise coming from car roads.
@@BertramCraftAndWilderness Thank you so much for your reply and your answers! :) They are very much appreciated! :)
