I’m almost tempted to hunt down PA victims. Some I kinda like the design, and some have nostalgia, but others, I just want to have a collection solely devoted to bad figures
Agreed, as problematic as many of these toys have become over time(especially GPS issues) but theres a certain charm to some of these outcast figures.
Those that are still selling for original retail have actually gone down in value because of inflation.
I rarely comment on videos now but man Plastic Addict was a huge chunk of my childhood and I'm gonna be graduating college in a couple of months from now. The openings were GOLD and my favorite episode is that titanium optimal optimus HAHA. Hats off to you man and all the best!
I bought an Energon Wing Saber... for a lot less... I totally forgot you reviewed that one... and with my memory I'm not entirely sure but I may have actually bought the exact one you reviewed.
I hope you don't have regrets about selling it because I love that figure. I have him combined with Optimus on my self right now and he looks awesome.
I know as a figure on his own he's kind of terrible. But he looks cool and that's why I love him despite how much he suffers for the combiner gimmic.

One of the plastic addicts type guys was selling a Pepsi Optimus Prime two years ago to this other collector, and he got it all thrilled, only to discover it wasn't, but was a reissue 25th Prime where they had just stuck pepsi stickers on the prime and box and resealed it. The actual Pepsi prime has the logo stamped, not glued on with elmer's school glue.

The irony with the Tobias Plastic Addict custom is it'd actually look better given the black shirt would blend in better with the feathers.
I once saw an Armada Hot Shot in a thrift store that was in perfect condition, right next to a ROTF leader Optimus that was absolutely mangled up. Wild!
Aramada hot shot was such a tank of a figure you really had to WORK to actually break anything on him, so im not suprised he was in one piece

To be fair, ROTF Optimus Prime can look mangled up and still be in perfect condition. Have you ever transformed that figure? When I first got him I started the transformation, had to leave for work and left him on my bed in a mengled pile mid transformation. Looks great in both modes. One of the few movie designs I actually like but that transformation has far too many moving parts to be fun.
@@RialVestro Oh I know about that transformation. Remember that one stock photo. Sheesh. Though, nowadays, I struggle a bit with SS DOTM Megatron and Grindor. Plus, I confident to that Optimus was incomplete since I never see any Optimuses at thrift stores. Or perhaps someone got fed up with the transformation as well.
eBay sellers are insane. I've seen Cybertron Megatron go for 200$ buy now. These toys aren't in circulation but it's no fun to buy stuff on eBay anymore when a MisB Sunstreaker goes for the same price as MisB Energon Fat Prime.
IKR, what pisses me off is when you go on Ebay and find an Energon Tumblardimus Prime without his drones or trailer, that's opening bid is more than a MIB buy it now ones right below it, nobody is gonna pay that much for the worst part of the figure.
it's hard, sometimes you have to compromise and live with what's missing, I got one without the key missiles and find just so I could have the weapons, ended up getting a cybertron optimus missing his gun... which then found one of similar price with the gun later
both were around 70 USD

The happy meal Hot Shot was pretty much my first transformer that I didn’t return to the store cause I found it too hard to transform. And then I got the deluxe Hot Shot. I know he gets a lot of deserved hate, but I have a soft spot for him

I got mine years ago for less than 65$US shipped.... The TAKARA version. SEALED. Because the seller misspelled everything in his listing. I still have it on my Optimus to this day.

@@donaldbothe3518 I did laugh too, when I was the only bidder and won! The seller had over 300 feedbacks too at 100% positive so he wasn't supposed to be a noob. Props to him to have concluded the sale despite that Takara Wingsaber being sold for nearly 150$US at the time.

I bought an extra Armada HOT Shot on ebay for $3 when mom found my Armada figures. I just wanted to try to repaint him the same colors but less disgusting shades. Somehow I ended up displaying the original.

The only Plastic addict figure ive ever been curious about was ROTF Demolishor. And thats only because im sure the transformation to make that thing screen accurate is something to behold
Since it's post-holidays ebay, what's left is typically people shooting for the moon, because no one bought them for giving as holiday gifts.
Not gonna lie, I legit want an Armada Sideswipe. I'm trying to go completionist on G1 Sideswipes (one day, Action Master...one day...) but Armada has so many specific flaws, and I don't own a single Armada toy. So, despite him not being a G1 Swiper. I'm very curious as to what he's like in hand.
Man, even bad plastic needs a good home.
One reason why I am saving 10 grand for this fall. I am going to retrocon. But More then just transformers I am looking for. I figured be cheaper to get everything at a show all at once. Plus I want to stop on the way home get the lego eiffle tower too. I looked & realized too. I could save a ton of money by shopping at a show like retrocon. Bring everything home in suitcases. Then I don't have to Pay shipping Prices. 10 grand spending money for the show ought to do it for the year.

Some of the custom Trek figures were pretty hilarious. One time I got a modified Generations Dr. Crusher who's head immediately came off! Also someone made a custom Jetfire where they frankensteined it with a Veritech of similar mold. Ban Dai and Joon and Takara being similar, and interchangeable in some cases. I took two of them and modified them into the Macross DYRL movie trainer orange VT (the impossible to get g1 super ostrich inspired) and the cat's eye eilinseeker. But you can't really transform them as they make horrible noises when doing so., Ha. Okay though not gonna sell em. Just sit there in the display box.

I got wing saber when he came out but never did get the Optimus prime until last year. And I still have his box with The instructions in it
The giant Transmetal Cheetor there is likely the one I sold decades ago, ha! I used to buy up lots of G1 Jetfire and Star Trek Playmates figures. I would custom rebuild junky yellowing jetfires into variants and then not sell them. Have about 20 or so still in a box and use them in fan films for free. The Trek figures too.

There are a few I've bought cheap just for the humour. Scattershot and BM Cheetor to name some. Several others I actually already had.
Plastic Addict was how I discovered Universe Silverbolt. I ended up picking that one up and frankly I have no regrets.

The Chinese zodiac Year of the Dragon Optimus Prime from DothM is awesome. If it comes up, get one. Although same transform as really hard to change DotM optimus prime with trailer.
Hey TJ, i see your point about buying parts lots but youd be surprised at the market there actually is for this, theres plenty of toy modders/customizers that specifically look for lots like that(speaking from experience here) or they make good replacements for a few people who actually have those figures(however few there are but they are out there) anyways ive been loving these more obscure videos the last few days, super fun.
I still have my sealed BM Supreme Cheetor I bought at Walmart.
You should check the SOLD listings. Because we could _ask_ any price for anything, it doesn't mean it will sell.
For example, I saw many listings on eBay of the *Takara Super Convoy C307X* ranging from 400$US to 600$US. I just bought it from Mandarake at 165$US. All prices not counting taxes and shipping, of course.
BTW, I own many _Addicts_ toys and love how bad they are.
Oh for fuks sake. Over 8k yen in shipping alone. Not counting the upcoming custom fees....

possibly a controversial opinion but Supreme Cheetor is a holy grail of my collection, a friend of mine had it when we were kids and I bought my own a few years back and I love it lol
Ever since corona hit ebay scalpers have been emboldened, even the weirdest/worst figures out there have been marked up to insane prices online the last 2 years. Best chance you have of getting any of these figures these days is flea markets, hobby shops, and garage sales that don't go base their prices on "online prices".

It's one thing when you watch the review and think it's actually a toy you'd like. I did that with Optibotimus' review of the Mini-Com Assault Team. But to buy a toy you can tell is bad from the review? I don't get it. Are money and space not a factor?
This Chinese year is the year of the tiger-tron. The repaint would have been really easy. Also, I would only wish Titanium Megatron on my worst enemy. I do not know why anyone would want to own one.
I suppose Hot Shot and Silverbolt are major characters so they still have value from that

But people are just gonna do what they're gonna do. In fact, Hot Shot is one of my favorite characters in Armada, and compared to toys like Titanium Megatron and Beast Machines Silverbolt, I think he's just worth buying. Plus... it's Hot Shot. How could you not love that Autobot goofball-turned-hero.

There are only three reasons why I would even consider buying a plastic addict contestant.
1-it has enough play value to keep me entertained
2-it won’t self destruct with time (I can forgive gold/speckled plastic and clear plastic in some conditions, not fake rubber that dissolves hard plastic *shudders*)
3-if it’s cheap enough

I'd pay the 134 for the show accurate silverbolt. I loved his arc and want the figure simply to round out his different forms through the Beast saga, but cant bring myself to buy the US version

The price of Energon Wing Saber bothers me so much, it's really not worth it. I guess he's just super rare? Or all of us Energon kids suddenly all got nostalgic at the same time and created a demand. I wish bootleggers could reproduce these toys so I could get one for $40 or $50 and not $200
Wing saber isn't rare, it's another case of ebay "price speculators" going wild and rapidly inflating the price a while back. For years it was like 30 dollars and I missed a good chance to get him before corona hit.

I remember when I actually thought Armada toys were cool. Got rid of them all years ago. Same with Beast Wars. Never had so much buyers remorse as I did when buying those trashy toys. Transmetals were great...minus Scavenger (red ant). Beast Machines ... couldn't support that line. God damn...90s Transformers were the worst Transformers thus far. 90s toys in general sucked...except the stuff I liked of course! Lol.

I'd have to disagree with your definition of 100% complete. The figure, not missing any bits, and with all accessories is 100% complete irrespective of whether the instructions are included.
Supreme Cheetor is the Atari E.T. of the transformers fandom. It's so bad that somehow it has gained value by being the worst.

It's the first month so you get paid less than normal in revenue, something like that I don't remember.
Advertisers pay a lot more for ads in December, and the balance of that is they pay very little in January, so revenue goes way down.

Great, hope this doesn't drive up the price on Hot Shot any more. I've been wanting him for a while out of genuine nostalgia but haven't gotten that alignment of budget and release schedule respite to happen yet. I get it's your shtick to be all "these toys are horrible and nobody should enjoy them", but I've seen far FAR worse G1 toys of nobodies get cherished en masse. It shouldn't at all be surprising that someone might have fond memories enough to want the toy decades later, even if adult fans at the time complained about articulation on message boards.
One of the friends I made at tfcon had a titanium megatron and got it signed by every guest there and baltmatrix. That thing was flimsy as hell in his hands.
