some people just dont understand how intense weight cutting is.. The fact that he can even have power in his punches is pretty impressive.
Damn look at that reach. He can just stay home and swing from there. Lol
The front kick has been used since we've been humans, its a natural way to gain space and push an opponent away or knock them out. The spartans loved the front kick.
I must say his straight punches look better than they've ever looked.
to appreciate his length pause at 4:58............ he is standing so far away and landing these power shots. its amazing
Who’s here after watching an izzy open workout like damn 🤣
tenure and more experience means squat and rashad knows this...youth and an ability to pick up quickly is of the utmost importance.
I remember watching this growing up proper inspo
This was really smart. He didn't show Rashad anything. He did the most basic shit in this media workout, and now his opponent has no fucking idea how much he's improved. Even on the mitts, he wasn't going full power and was just jabbing and 1,2ing. I remember in the prefight workout with Shogun, he was doing all kinds of exciting shit. Now he's being a little more tactical.
Most guys in Ufc use kickboxing kicks but there are so many kicking techniques that they could use...Cung Le and Machida are using some of those techniques very effectively...and now Anderson and Jones are trying to do the same which is nice!
Who has this guy not DOMINATED? Anyone who hates on this guy needs to look within. He is a KILLER. Enjoy the show.
You guys realize he's doing the basics in the media workouts so he doesn't give away the game plan in the fight right?
Every fighter do the same
I think you have to go through it to know. I wrestled in High School and by my senior year i was cutting about 10 pds before every match. It was a horrendous experience. Jones is cutting like 25 so it is incredibly intense.
Haha I was waiting for the spinning back elbow myself.
Wherein Atlanta, Georgia did this take place, also what day and time did this Pre-Fight Open Workout happen? Thanx!
The jab and the front kick are the most effective strikes for taller longer fighters. I'm pretty sure he will capitalize on it.
i dunno either. People say hes fake. but how do they know him so well if all they've seen is whats been shown to them on tv. And people always say hes cocky. He talks like someone who believes in himself, He doesnt put his opponents down and he doesnt come off as disrespectful.
that isnt an innovative striking, that is correct boxing punches.
people call jon cocky and people excoriate the guy - - but all of his fights have been amazing - - I really enjoyed his fight w shogun and machida and stephan bonner. He is a superathlete and if he cleans out the 205 lb division I'd love to see him move up to fight guys like Cain Velasquez, JDS, Frank Mir, etc
ya the front kick was the first kick i used in kickboxing.
Rashad says: You got knocked the fuck out
It has to feel weird working out with a bunch of people talking and taking pictures and stuff I know I would need my silence to focus when I’m working out I’m fine with all that talking and pictures afterwards
thats true but from he first used it in the ufc and everyone saw thats it,s very effective and can win you a fight, everyone started to use it in the ufc,you got to give the spider props for that.
we can only hope that its going to be a 5 round fight
So funny how virtually no one did the front kick to the head before Anderson used it ... now just everyone is using it.
LOL @ so many dislikes on all of Jon Jones' videos..and he's one of the most talented fighters in the game today, if not the most (behind Silva).
amen!
i agree!
You broke my sons heart JJ.
de lo mejor de lo Mejor jon Bones jones es Grande
That reach is something serious! But Rashad has the speed and precision power, once Rashad gets inside it could be over. Machida got inside but he didn't have Rashad's hands
he's gonna show rashad the door like he did rampage...this day and age if you dont make it into the UFC by your early 20s, time to change careers.
Bad thing about having such unusually long arms like jones does, is that when your boxing the time pulling your arms back leaves you so open for counter punching thats why he kicks so often, if were to throuw an over hand right with a lot of force behind it and miss, bad news for him
yup taking it easy ... after all weigh ins are at april the20th
he is going up to heavyweight for sure, probably sooner than later
Jon Jones the greatest of all time!
wow his reach on his straight right is fucking ridiculous, really scary.
Dhalsim from street fighter comes to mind.
Great fighter.
One of the most effective ways to become good at something is to model someone whose been there done that. If people see that front kicks are effective they'll start using them. They would be dumb not to add it to their personal arsenal.
In the UFC,not many people if any where using it before Anderson
does anyone see that everything somebody posts a Jon Jones video its filled with dislikes?
Jon has this! Submission of the night!!!
He was probably about ~220 in this vid, maybe a little less (he posted a pic on twitter of him at 220 the other day). 15lbs isn't too difficult a cut clearly for him. He seems to be able to perform well after it. There are people who cut a lot more than him!
02:50 when he actually hits a pad
Oh jeez, Steven Segal has been training Bones now too? It's becoming the Ultimate Frontkick Championships...
They should have Jon Jones vs. the big guy at 10:56 with the brown shirt!
I keep getting a glimpse of Blobby without his suit on...
He wasn't really the first to use it in the UFC actually, but he definitely was the first to get a clean finish from the kick. It was used a couple times before like when Griffin fought Tito for the 2nd time he knocked Tito's mouth gaurd right out with a sick front kick. Not trying to be a douche by correcting you haha sorry just thought i'd share
yes but no one used them in MMA really before Anderson knocked Vitor out
damn that right straight... his reach is ridiculous
I don't care who u are that guys arms was hurting holding up that mic😅
People are putting too much into his reach. Jon Jones is probably one of the only guys that his length doesn't make him uncoordinated like it does others like bigfoot and most people with long limbs.
But lets not forget that Lyoto Machida dominated Jon in stand up and hit him multiple times. Jon is just lucky he is diverse and can do many other things because if they had to stand and trade punches Lyoto would win.
Scary to see Jon doing front kicks. I mean he seems to evolve fast.
This is also the part where I tell you that you spelled "trains" wrong
Keep dropping them hands, and Evans is gonna catch you with an over hand.
yeah but in combat sports like K1 or Ufc nobody used the front kick ...since Anderson did that effectively now everyone is using it.
Jones has really innovative striking... what are you talking about, he took rampage down because it worked at that particular moment...
Crazy how a powerful dude doesn't look like he hits that hard. Obviously he can. Maybe he's going light here. But even full throttle on the bag it doesn't look that hard. Must be the illusion of smooth technique plus size or something
He has no power
Exactly what I thought
its very clear that Rashad & Jon are excellent fighters. The problems theyve had im sure will be forgotten after the fight. I love both fighers but I think Rashad needs to be teacher on this 1 and Bones needs to learn from him
front kick is one way ticket to takedown and ground n pound :D
Anderson was doing it way before Machida. In fact Machida learned it from Anderson.
athleticism what will that help him? If you talk about movement and speed by using that term I can assure you that Rashad is was quciker and explosive and has better overall movement.
Nah he is barely cutting 10, he was 217 Wednesday fully hydrated.
If jon bones starts imitate Anderson Silva we are all doomed
Segal invented front kick, hahaXD
i'm having the feling rashad is gonna grab those loooong legs of his and take him down the moment the ref says "lets get it on"
They obviously avoided it because its easy to take people down when they high kick. Its MMA after all not kickboxing
Jones looked a little winded after throwing hands at the mitts.
Bones is amazing and all but saying he will take out Anderson Silva is too much for me..The way he drops his right hand an inch or two during pads, Im 100% sure Silva would exploit
Jones is smart, i think predic is gon be right lol hes doin all this knockout talk, rashad's weak chin, now high kicks here.. he's gonna go for the TD and wrestle R.E
To me it all depends on if Jon will be able to put Silva down and elbow the shit out of him...Other than that takedown aspect, Bomes beating Silva to me isnt that likely
So Jon you think your striking is better than Rashad's, i'll have to quote you own self... "Come on, Really!?"
lmao so right dude
King of a scary guy
Well alright, if you disagree then could you dig up some ufc/dream/wec/strikeforce/pride matches pre silva/belfort up and post a time in the round, event and match, where they used it or make gifs out of them and lets see how many we can find that people like me just didn't notice.
... and then I can dig some examples post A.S. where people do that, like Siver in his last fight. I don't recall Siver doing that earlier.
Then we can have a real argument. BUt I doubt we will bother lol.
4:34 lmao
he looks enormous here ; I wonder how much weight this guy has to cut ?
Haha brazilians tend to pronounce "h" when its an R, for example Royce Gracie sounds like Hroyce Gracie, Rua sounds like Hrua. Go check out 27 times BJJ world champ Renato Laranja, he has a very thick Portuguese accent
i really hope your right.
He is cutting weight. It's brutal..
did anyone see butterbean with the camera, lol. Just kidding
jones gonna win but this exhibition was ridiculous lmfao
I think jons feels awkward with people watching him
Just a natural fighter
sparring wrestler is Igor Vovchanchin ??? Oo
All for youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu LOL
I bet John is kicking at half power @ 7:15, I hope so, for him :)
Damn, Jones is ready to go. Hashad has to watch out for the spirit of Sensei Steven Seagal(lol)
Why Hashad? Rashad?
Was this a joke ? Rashad looks ready !! Jones going through motion.
BONES IS DA MAN !!!! HATERS KEEP HATIN !
but anderson silva perfected it
ALL FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
ummmm Anderson didnt invent the front kick. its been around in martial arts for a very very long time
That is one damn reach wowzers
Sugar looks so much quicker...
ITs a workout for the media what did you expect to see LOL! They save it for the cage son.. Jones is also hungry and dehydrated as fuck right now..
Thumbs up if u going to 145!!!!!!!!!!
Haha alright man. But ya never know right? Some ppl online are just way over sensitive. It's stupid
Gustafson has the frame to be a heavyweight aswell
Jones will look good for the first few mins, then he will get tired & KO
