Congrats!! My friend ended up pregnant for an additional 4 weeks over the due date. The hospital kept pushing for induction but apparently there’s growing research that some mums are able to carry 4 additional weeks safely. She had to go to hospital twice a day as part of the deal, but it worked out for her.

Thank you Amber for sharing your story and congratulations on beautiful baby Joey! I can relate so much to your experience re long induction, not progressing, that positive hope that you may go into labour spontaneously during the start of the induction process right through to the realisation that surgery is now looking like the only option, the heartbeat fluctuating and the similar thoughts about the induction following the event. I really struggled with it at first but you’ve summed it up - you make the right decision at the time based on the info available. All the best with the rest of the mum journey xxx

Thanks for sharing! Joey is sooo adorable. I ended up having the dreaded C-Section and I have to say that in my experience it was like you said with the epidural. There’s a huge fear/stigma around having a c-section but for me it was actually no big deal. I had suffered more with a migraine, to be honest, than with the recovery from the caesarean. I know some really struggle but it can be the same with the recovery from a vaginal birth. So don’t dread it if you have to go through it.

I have no idea why there’s so much stigma! I wouldn’t have minded at all having one if it was necessary, but I was very aware of Marco going back to work and having a dog and a baby to look after haha! I’m sure we’d have managed just fine ♥️ xx

Congratulations, Amber! I was waiting for about 5 weeks for your birth story, after seeing the announcement on Instagram. I was hoping the birth will go well and thinking that it must have happened already, then saw it there and I was happy to know that you are ok. I was so curious for the story itself, to see what are your impressions. I'm so glad that everything went well and you managed to have a positive experience - plus avoiding a c-section and with minimal damage. And Joey is such a wonderful boy! It's very reassuring to hear that after taking the epidural, you don't feel so much pain. I had a c-section for a breech issue after entering in labor in week 38 on my own, and my water broke. I had really bad contractions for about 2h, so that left an impression on me, considering the pain - it was so painful... Once I took the spinal for the c-section, obviously it went away; however, it's so interesting to hear that the pain significantly decreases with the epidural. That must make a natural birth so much better. I didn't feel much or was left with anything after the spinal, it's interesting to hear you got a bruise. Also it's interesting that you ended up being in hospital for so little after giving birth, but with so much time before the event. For me, it was the other way around, my hospital memories are related to recovering after the c-section. Congratulations again for making your dream come true, I think you are so inspiring and I wish you the best these days with Joey! Thank you for sharing your story with the world! :*

Thank you for sharing your story and although you didn't get exactly what you wanted, we'll done for sticking to your guns and avoiding that c section. Congrats to you and Marco xx

Congratulations! The stigma comes from long-term back problems that arise later on. Like unexplained back pain.

The drip ( pitocin?) is horrible, it ramps up everything! Normally you can ask for an epidural at the same time as it’s so sudden the pain level just comes along intense from the get go, not building as it would if you were naturally in labour. Congratulations on Joey, he is gorgeous.
