- In this Episode of Truck House Life, I'll teach you how to change a recoil on a Skidoo snowmobile. This works for most Skidoos 2008-2018. If your recoil starter stops working or breaks, this is how you put a new one in! It's easy, should take you 30 minutes or less. Enjoy! Ah man, the amount of times I’ve had to do this on the side of the trail with a pair of needle nose instead of a good puller. Good on you for always helping other out with info like this!
A thin piece of rope or string works just as well and takes up less space

1:23 I'll need a snowmobile first before I can fix it. lol I've only been on one once, in new paltz NY. I went 80mph, my face was frozen and I couldn't move my lips but it was fun as hell.
Well now ya know;) stay warm over there!
My knot came loose from the handle and the cord went into the recoil assy now to get the cord out do you you a fix or video to get that fix ????????????

I've had to take my recoil off and rewind the spring before, but never had to replace the whole recoil
Was my first time on this one too.
watching this has fortified my decision to stick with a Polaris.
Just remember in a previous video which brand is constantly breaking down ;-)
lol
yup, new engine now, shes runnin!
Sorry Glen Alps
You should have been able to buy a rebuild kit from your local dealer for about $20.00 and it takes about 5 extra min to rebuild and could have saved you $100.00.
yeah, the shop closed in 20 minutes and all they had was 1 new recoil, no rebuild kit (it was a Friday evening and our friend from the lower 48 came up that weekend literally just to ride, so just wanted it fixed quick).
@@TruckHouseLife understandable!

My guess is that the guys that designed that exhaust have never replaced springs when it’s -25 or so.
Just sayin’
