- In Episode 54 of Truck House Life, I'll do a quick review of the Spyder aftermarket/replacement headlights and show you how to install them in a Ford OBS (1994 - 1997 ) truck. Overall, the swap was a little tricky, but with patience anyone could do it. The aftermarket headlights are much better and brighter than stock, look great and are super affordable. Enjoy!

Saw you and your rig yesterday packing out of the summit pullout in Turny. Rig is looking real slick my man! Especially with a sled in the back and the gobs of snow on the ground at the summit this weekend ;). Must have been a pretty rad day riding!
But anyway, really love what you got going on Timmy! Huge inspiration for that AK truck house life. Currently got an older 89 f250 7.3 idi diesel truck with a 5 speed down here in Homer that i’m building out to live in full time and chase down trouble from here to the states. I was driving right by you and just about got stuck in the middle of the exit in my suv gawking at your truck. Riders in front of you seemed really antsy to get out so I just kept my momentum going to not block them, otherwise i would of just stopped and said hi. I’ll get ya next time!

Looks great. Mine did too.....for a while. On my 2003 F150 7700, I installed these and they were awesome for about six months. Then, they started leaking and the plastic started deteriorating badly. I’m about to change them again. No biggie though, as you say they were cheap.

yeah they accidentally sent me clear ones on the 2nd shipment, and they definitely didn't look as good as the black background ones

Love the look of the headlights I have similar style but all crome not black but I've been thinking of doing black headlights this is probably all the convincing I need

I see you have some extra 2/0 wires on the battery terminal. Have you looked into mechman alternators or autozone platinum agm ? Both of these helped me out alot. I also have some xs power d750 big ass agm batteries you may wanna look into this stuff for some extra power
yup i've got an upgraded alternator, should step it up another level one day though, Hopefully get a better battery system once I make the flatbed mods to the camper for more room.

Good looking upgrade! I have a question... how do you spend your normal day?? Not sure what constitute “normal day” but your home is on truck bed: where and how you find spot to park, what do you eat, how you spend time when you don’t have particular goal or project or whatever... I’m just curious how Tim spends his normal “uneventful” day 😂

Are they DOT approved? If not you could have issues with state inspection if you have that in your space. I would hang on to the old ones just in case.
Great call on halogen though. LED's do nothing but scatter light in peoples face, but are not bright from the driver's perspective. Blue lights are the worst, white and slightly yellow will give you way more visability than blue. 4,000-5,000k are your best bet.

I put 6000k led on my gmc Denali just make sure lumens are not so high it will blind people

Got an off topic question for you Timmy. Since you travel quite a bit and cellphones are pretty unreliable out in the sticks, do you have any 2 way radio gear with you in the truck?
yup, CB radio in the truck and I carry a radio system when out doing snowmachine/ski stuff for sure
How’d the adjusting go? I had a set I had to point the passenger side one way out for the beam to shoot correctly and looked super weird. Cp addict sells what looks like the same kit for $200 and I’m wondering what the difference is.

Hey! Did you remove your tailgate and replaced it with some metal? If you did, they why did you do it? From what I’ve found online they can hold a few hundred lbs and your porch doesn’t seem heavy
Yup, tailgate isn't on there, definitely shaved some weight off. Episode 21 answers the weight question;)

Do they have a flat cut off beam, that prevents being blinded in heavy snow or fog? Exact model number please, for your 96 f350 7.3; to order the exact same?
I got them from autoanything, but they recently sold out, just search for black crystal headlights (Spyder brand) for your 96.
I could not find any headlights made by Spyer that fit my 2001 F350 SD. What year is yours?

Nope, Sypder makes them for all vehicles, check em out:). Autoanything or Cardid usually has them the cheapest.

Midnight Sun Metalworks, I sketched it up, showed them what I was looking for and they made it come to life (they can weld way better than I can lol). I think I might show it a little more in episode 4 (official tour video)
