Thought you might find this of interest, this is my first interaction with the police whilst flying a drone in over 6years, how did I do? I think it went ok, comment below and let me know what I should of said or done better?
TBS Tango 2
Team BlackSheep has redefined the portable remote control with the TBS Tango 2. Now we're back with one of the most popular requests: a compact full-size remote! The TBS Mambo follows in the footsteps, but focuses on all of the things the Tango 2 tries not to have: a larger screen, traditional form factor with switches and potentiometers, JR module bay, replaceable batteries and trim buttons!
DJI FPV Goggles
The DJI FPV Goggles V2 with DJI O3 image transmission features high definition, low latency, long-distance transmission, and strong anti-interference capabilities. The DJI FPV Goggles Battery in the box supports up to 110 minutes of flight when fully charged. High definition, low latency, long-distance transmission, and strong anti-interference. Battery in the box supports 110 minutes of flight when fully charged.
FPV
FPV, has revolutionized the radio control hobby. By definition, it is a method used to control an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or radio-controlled vehicle from the driver or pilot's perspective. ... A live FPV system makes precise aerial photography and videography possible.
Betaflight
Betaflight is flight controller software (firmware) used to fly multi-rotor craft and fixed wing craft. This fork differs from Baseflight and Cleanflight in that it focuses on flight performance, leading-edge feature additions, and wide target support.
Flight Controller (FC)
A flight controller (FC) is a small circuit board of varying complexity. Its function is to direct the RPM of each motor in response to input. A command from the pilot for the multi-rotor to move forward is fed into the flight controller, which determines how to manipulate the motors accordingly.
Radio Transmitter
The common frequencies used in FPV drones are 2.4GHz and 900Mhz. 2.4GHz is the standard nowadays for radio control thanks to its frequency hopping technology, which manages channel automatically to avoid interference between pilots. 900MHz is another popular frequency mostly used in long range flying.
FPV Analog Goggles
The term analog FPV refers to Analog video transmission technology and systems. ... The FPV camera signal is passed through to the VTx. The VTx have a carrier frequency (carrier frequency are frequencies that help the weak FPV camera signal to travel over long distances), the most commonly used carrier frequency is 5.8GHz.
ImpulseRC Apex 5″ Quadcopter Frame
Through a process of continous refinement and always striving to improve we have created a new breed of freestyle frame. The Apex does not compromise in stiffness or durability, so you never have to choose between confidence and performance. Unique design elements new to the FPV world make your build and maintenance more simple than ever before. Toughness of the frame itself is increased while also offering much better protection for your investment in flight electronics.
ImpulseRC Micro Apex
The Micro Apex incorporates all of the unique innovations pioneered by ImpulseRC and now widely imitated. From the compressed-X arm geometry, integrated camera tilt, front box-section and split main plate design, to our custom shoulder bolts and arm locking key. At the centre of mass where the arms meet there is a massive 8mm of carbon fibre, taking the stiffness of a micro frame to a new dimension so you can enjoy unsurpassed flight characteristics at this prop size.
Cinewhoop
Cinewhoops are drones specifically designed for capturing chrisp, stable, high-definition video that DJI drones can't capture. They are small, stable and much safer than your 5” FPV drone. They usually run 3” propellers that are protected in ducts that give them more lift. - Zábava
Perfect representation of how to handle situations like this 👏

@@Datfpv next time tell her to mind her business.
so still illegal than as no vlos for them due to being in a car...
I honestly wish police in America were more like this - respectfully inquisitive. She was very respectful and was doing her job. She simply had a conversation with him, determined he was not doing anything unlawful or malicious, and moved on. Great interaction on the OP's part too.
I feel like she was kinda nosy. She wasn't disrespectful but if this guy isn't trespassing I don't know wjy she's asking question after question.
she doesn't have a firearm on her side so she cant be violent or angry. in the usa, all cops carry firearms and therefore their first option is to use force and if don't cave in they use excessive force up to and including using their firearm.
@@ghostrunner2138 British need a permit for everything lol
@@ghostrunner2138 Insuring that he's not up to anything malicious is basically her responsibility because she got a call. I can see how you'd think she was being nosy, but I think she basically did what was required of her
Im in the US, ive had 3 interactions with cops while flying in parks. I never fly near people so it was always just me and the cop, all 3 times i showed them the drone and they thought it was cool. 1 guy stayed to watch me rip a pack and chatted about his police drone. Id be curious too if id never seen an fpv drone and then theres a guy with a crazy headset standing in the park with what sounds like a weedwacker buzzing around at 60mph lol. So far all cool cops, dont fly private property, dont fly crowded public spots and they will almost always just be happy to chat for a minute and move on.
It’s so funny how she initially couldn’t believe you just do that for fun 🤣
"I'm just a guy trying to enjoy whats left of his little life..." I felt this
its so true though
This is great gives me confidence to being able to fly most places I think of, the more there are interactions like this the more accepting police and communities will be I mean let's face it if you had an rc car that was double the size of that drone I doubt she would have stopped hopefully one day we can get it more accepted
Well more positive interactions like this and it will be widely accepted. Safe distances and not a harm to anyone is always something people will accept. (And it's fun to watch if you aren't the pilot.
Right, I never had problems to fly Shoppingcenter malls on weekends and all such stuff and if police turns by , be calm explain what you do and in 99 percent they leave you alone and say have fun
You're a great FPV ambassador. In the US it's more of a lottery with factors such as population, high or low could be bad, and then also the police force that visits, and finally the officer. There are many officers that are just good people. Sometimes those good people are having a bad day which makes it harder for them to be kind. There are some bad officers also that just don't give a flyin F! There's no explaining to them. Now we have municipalities, parks, and public access areas that are making their own rules about drones which they don't have the legal ability to do, but they can still cause a lot of problems for you if you try to prove that point to them. I have had some great interactions with the public lately in places that I expected to be ran out of. DRL and other mainstream drone happenings are helping us gain some public acceptance and differentiation from camera drones that seem to be the only bad actors that make the news reels for alleged crimes like spying or flying near an airport. You couldn't have handled that any better. Was the female officer good looking? She sounded sweet.
Get on the ground!!! Stop resisting!!!
Really well handled!
thanks man
Perfect way of handling the situation. Loved the, "well I'm a person and I'm here" 🤣🤣
That was a great interaction everyone kept it respectful and chill
thanks man
👌 Took the time to explain the hobby, educate. Kept calm and gave no attitude. I know he didnt need to but offered his details, photo of him and car info! You sir are a star!!! x
thank you!
Well that was pretty cool, she seemed pretty nice and didn't try to run you off. Thanks for sharing
Subscribed for this! Right on!
Excellent handling in flying and communication with the authority. 👍🏼🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the sub! nice one!
Hats off to you Datfpv couldn't have handled that situation any better, I always find being courteous goes a long way.
thank you!
Glad she was in a good mode and you made her laugh and realize everyone isn't up to no good. Well played..!
thank you
Its **Cough Cough** under 250g **Cough Cough** 🤣 - Nice one man, respectful interaction. We used to get visits regularly bashing around with 1/5th scale petrol buggies, but when they came across, saw you weren't being a dick, they mostly wanted to know how much it cost, how fast it went and if they could have a go!! :-)
Here in Germany you need to have an "observer", a second person that is then the connection between you and "Line Of Sight" flying, because you can`t see the drone itself in googles.
But in cities there another problem... here in Hamburg where I am at the moment... it`s like the whole city is a NFZ...and when the NFZ you still have to drive alot further, because there are too many houses so acutally can`t fly there anyway... and Germam people are often really strange when it`s about laws...
As if God himself had spoken to them :-)
The use of FPV drones and goggles is legal in the United Kingdom, and like most airspace authority drone rules worldwide, to fly an FPV drone you need an observer who can maintain visual line of sight with the aircraft and communicate this with the pilot.
Probably you need to have observer if you don't have proper certificate as law is more similar now in EU.
@@madebymarcin l have the A2 certificate. But NFZ is anyway almost in the whole city.
A w Polsce są mniejsze restrykcje? 😉
AWESOME video - great way to handle this type of interaction by both the police and the drone pilot. Awesome video! Great one man!
Thank you very much!
Subbed my man! Absolutely brilliant the way you handled this situation and provided education at the same time. Us nerds are misunderstood! 😢 ❤️
thanks for the sub!
That went pretty well. This is why I also just fly sub 250g in my closeby surroundings to stay within the law and it gives me so many more opportunities than 5 inch does
def fly them closer to town and different places.
Same mate, I can now go to the moors, the coast, anywhere away from people and be relaxed 👍😎
A cop does a routine stop for my exhaust system and sees my goggles.
👮"Oh drones!, you're not one of those creepy hover over the house guys are you?"
Me: 😂🤣😂.. "Uh.. No.
I'm a flippy-flopoy fast flying pilot."
👮"Oh! I want to watch you fly when I'm not on duty sometime."
Glad I don't fly DJI. 😂
😅😆
It's actually a carefully executed corporate espionage mission disguised cleverly as an acro romp. The plus side of this approach goes well beyond just the appearance of "playing with a toy"; because you've been over and under all the stuff on the property, you can steal their shrubbery, guard rail and gate tech as well.
good lad mate, great interaction
Much appreciated
@Datfpv 3:00 below 250g, always interesting how we are forced to get into defensive mode, well handled.
so nice the cops, usually it´s better to go that way, in a friendly one...We´re not criminals, but sometimes we also got to explain them what are the toys we flying, that we respect the laws and sooner or later we´ll be accepted as we are... Drone Pilots
You handled that exactly as it should have been. thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!

Have you seen all the “dOnT yOu nEeD a sPoTtEr” comments here? 😩😆, the poor bloke survived an interaction with a misjudgment by a copper only to have people bumping their gums at him in the comments 🙄😅
@@bugsy742 I actually hadn't until you mentioned it. i do see more positive comments though. I guess there is always a devils advocate out there. Yeah Dat still handled that well. If I waited to fly with a spotter, then I'd never fly... I have actually talked with local police in my town. No drone ordinances, just keep it below 400 feet is all they said they cared about. I even asked about flying around the police station and courthouse they recently built. Offered the footage to put up on the City's website. They said couldn't see an issue with that either, just watch out for other people. I guess I am one of those lucky ones.
Wouldn't it be great if every interaction was like that, great video , im in Redditch not too far from you .. Subbed 👍👍Happy fledding
So glad I found your channel 🙏🙏🙏

So bizarre how she assumed where you would fly 😆
Her thinking was also bizarre, all’s well that ends well 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Literally the fun police.
it went pretty well
Great to see...the guys on those audit channels might be 'fighting for our rights' but I cannot stand them and think the police often handle them better than they deserve.
I am getting into the hobby and imagined if I was in such a situation would I have any trouble if I was just genuine and understanding. This proves you can just be a nice bloke and give the police some respect as they are doing their job and probably know nothing about drones...
You explain this well to her.
thanks!
Police came to visit me at home once after a Karen accused me of hovering above her house and spying. I showed police all me gear and when he realised both my cameras are fixed and hovering only allows me to view the sky they laughed looked at my gear stayed for a while and chatted. Result all good the fear comes from not understanding. Great vid man
I'm just glad the police don't know drone rules as they be asking where is your spotter lol
... shuuuuuuuuu...... lol
Great job with your interaction with the Po Po 😂
What quadcopter are you running looking for a sub 250 h.d. And amazing personal skills brother
Very well handled 👍🏻
Thanks 👍

No she doesn't need to run his car. He's respectable, again looking for trouble and seeking to criminalise.
Well done with how you dealt with the police, being polite gets you further than some of the other antagonistic CZcamsrs out there determined to get the police to change the laws against us in the future.
thank you!
what a good attitude to have with the police
thank you!
Man!….. I need one them smooth British accents
lol, thank you!
i always try to give the full speech about fpv to anybody who asks, including the cops, its a very strange hobby from the outside, but once they understand its first person view and see one in action, its ''oh yeah, that looks like so much fun, don't you get dizzy?'' heheeh
People ALWAYS ask me that too! 😆👍
She clearly doesn’t know the rules or she would of had ya 😂

Did you notice how her tone and initial authoritative line of questioning slowly eased back to a more humanly, friendly and approachable level as your interaction went on. 🤔 ⚠️😁
yeah, she was a little agressive right at the start, like a man is not allowed to be out side.... !
@@Datfpv She was like you have ro be up to no good out here, where nobody usually goes lol...🤔😲
She actually seemed disappointed you had a legitimate reason to be there and even questioned your response for a moment!
Good job keeping calm, cool and collected and keeping it humorous because at the end of the day that is what won her over, your comedy take on it and even she relaxed enough with you to realise how silly she was being and even started giggling along with you....😁⚠️👍
I have never had a fear of the police before, but since flying with DJI FPV, I have a paranoid fear of the police
Omg. The police there are so nice dude. Hear if they think your up to something they really don't play around. But for the most part they don't mess with us and have even stopped to check it out and wanted to look through the goggles .

I use a Drone X Pro LIMITLESS 4 and modifyed the camera. Has an altitude cap over 9500 feet and a 3 mile range.
Nice fiesta ST, I got the same car 😂👍🏼
Nice 👍 love my little ST

Farmers in Herefordshire (and presumably other farming areas) don't particularly like drones because people use them to scout farms. When farmers see a drone over the farm they take great care to lock up any quads, equipment, etc for a while afterwards. General bystanders in this county are very friendly though (I find) and usually just want to know what it is, how much, how far, how high, etc, etc - it pays to be polite.
I guess we all need to stop presuming the worst from everyone... man with drone does not mean criminal, man with car does not mean road rage man in public does not mean up to no good... it does pay to be polite, but also we should be able to do what we want to do, we are meant to be in a free country.

Love this, great response from both sides. I stopped flying FPV a while back just felt like too much hassle but I do have a genuine 180gram DJI Digital quad that I might just break out again. Im fully compliant, insured up for the "Boring Drones" but one thing I can never agree to is this nonsense of a spotter just stupid in my view. I dont have any boring enough mates to come out & watch me fly round car parks for hours anyway 😂
Yep and it just drives compliance down. Same as the weight limit being so low.
It means that anyone wanting to fly illegally whether it's no spotter, or being 50 grams over the law, will just put longer range gear on, and fly BVLOS anyway, so they don't get caught.
It drives a whole scene underground, in many ways is more dangerous..
Think you handled it quiet well, the Police round here may not have been so accommodating.
Technically, I believe this is still illegal as you need to have a spotter for FPV (please correct me if I'm wrong!)
However, if there's one truth in life, is that if you don't piss people off, and are able to have a calm conversation, most times you'll be fine.
Yep you are right! Id love to take my DJI fpv out alone but I'm too afraid of popo coming after me without a spotter.
you can never see my spotter in my vids...
Jeeeeez 🙄
In Norway at least we have an exemption for people who are members of model airplane clubs and fill in a check-list before flight basically asking "Are there people around, or is it likely people can enter the area of flight?"
If not, you can fly without a spotter.
But yeah, in general the requirements for visual line of sight on the drone comes off as a regulation made by some 70 year old stuck in the past where technology wasn't at where it is today.
@@Datfpv Correct me if Im wrong here, but in the UK the "observer" has to be present next to the flyer of the drone if flying using fpv with goggles so no VLOS.......
Well played good sir. 😉

Well handled sir. The officer should be commended as well. Where I’m from the cops will make something up to charge you with before they admit they made a wrong call every single time.
