Questions, how old you guys start your young horses training or breaking , where you guys are ?
Where I am same people start at 3 years old and same people start the bigger horses at 4 years old.

Nice job. Bring back memories from my childhood. Dad have Palomino quarter horse cutting horse that anybody could brag but only he could control. Name was nugget and dad would saddle him up when I was all about 3 or 4 years old when it started. And he sent me in the saddle and jump in the truck like the Nugget that could all that truck wherever we were going to get the animal and with me on the back of that horse dad get out of the truck point out the trial he wanted and slept that horse on it pass and he would pick that cow from the herd and that horse would work the right side in the rear driving that car with Dad in the truck on the left side clear up to the Corral now it whatever cowl irritations got squirreling decided take off down the creek through the brush that horse would stick with that cow and it got to be a little bit more fun than I ever wanted to have.

You guys have some big, round, hairy cojones for tying hard and fast on bulls.
Up here in the northern plains, we daily to slow them down and lay an opposing double half-hitch on the horn when we need to get off. That way you can rope with a longer string and tie-off close to the bull. Also, by dallying, I can let a little rope slip so my horse's back isn't taking such a beating. And you have extra tail hanging for a neck rope on those younger colts, after you step off.
There's been several times that I had to pop my dally to save myself or the horse....
IDK....maybe your bulls are smaller? We've got Angus and Charolois bulls.

There's a reason for using dallies around the horn when roping heavy cattle, Sometime you're gonna want to get loose in a hurry from that bull you just roped.....
