Transubstantiation is somewhat commonly used in Catholicism (communion - wine/bread becomes the blood/body of Christ) but if you don’t come from a Catholic background there would be no reason for you to know that word 😂 I agree that overly complex words don’t make for better writing.
OMG! That's why I knew that word. When she was talking about it I was like yeah, transubstantiation, what? lol Duh, it's from Catholic school..... LOL
I will also concur that a LOT of the words you had to look up were very familiar to people with a Catholic background.
I remember when I first read HP in 5th grade, I was like "oh transmutation... kinda like that word with use in Catechism class" lol.

I was so excited to see you read "Bloom", worth every second of watching this entire video. A lot of the queer feelings that Ro had; I went through with my best friend before I came out as bisexual. I was a bit disappointed by the end, in the lack of a cathartic release. Thank you so much for voicing my own feelings about this. I did give it a 4, purely on the fact that this was my first queer horror --and I was kind of in love with the prose/obsession. I'm sorry. 💀

Second, I didn't feel like what was going on in the book was supposed to be a huge surprise. A lot of the tension in the book for me came from knowing a turn was coming but wondering when it was actually going to happen.
