I mostly agree with the common 'less is more' in music but Rush is an exception. Technical music is not very interesting to me but Rush are just that and they keep it VERY interesting.
The chemistry of this band was absolutely astonishing. Rush are my all time favorite band! Three people did all that! They were so amazing live! They are intelligent, they rock, they are great role models, and they are incredible musicians and song writers. I could go on all day, I have seen them so many times I lost count. My first Rush concert was the Hemispheres tour 1978-79. They retired but I have great memories and their music is still the soundtrack to my life.

The reason that Neil could write such deep lyrics is that instead of partying & getting high, he read all the time from science to philosophy. He said in an interview that he was never bored on the road, for he was reading, and he found ways not to be bored.

Hey Jamel, I'm 57 and have listened to Rush since I was about 14, heard most of their albums and also owned most of them, seen them in concert 7 or 8 times in Kansas City Missouri. This is probably one of my favorite songs. I truly enjoyed your reactions to the song, thanks again. Also, try checking out Middletown Dreams from the Power Windows album, really good tune!
Your comment at 2:13 is the best comment I ever heard anyone say about this group. I’ve been listening to them for 40 years and I never heard anyone say how they mastered the ability to put you in the moment by creating sounds, special effects and how they played their instruments to create mood, atmosphere and imagery that goes with the lyrics to take you on a journey. They consistently did that for years but no one ever talked about it. Excellent critique!
All I can say is "I know, right?" I saw these guys in concert for many tours, then all of a sudden they started playing Natural Science. Eyes wide, I looked around me. "Natural Science!" I yelled, to no one, as goosebumps covered me from head to toe. You think these songs are amazing? Me, too. But they are an Experience, live. Nearly transcendent .
I’ve watched so many different reaction videos and it is my opinion, Jamal is one of the best. Watch his Since I’ve been loving you video. It is his focus that makes the difference. If you know the piece he is going to listen to, you know the peaks and valleys. You watch his eyes and you know he’s catching the moment.
So glad you reviewed this one. This is one their hidden gems that so many people don't even know exists. The musicality, the transitions and the lyrics are just phenominal.

And the birds at the beginning of the trees singing in the forest, is also at Le Studio
@@heikkidtw5992 Nope. Trees was recorded in Wales, not Le Studio. Permanent Waves was the first album recorded at Le Studio in Quebec.
When you see them in concert, at their best, you leave beat down, exhausted, and giddy with awe.
One of my top five favorite Rush tunes. Musically astounding, and lyrically one of the deepest.
RUSH is my band always.since 1974.seen every tour.yes 74.75.76.77.78.79.etc.as an opener for bands alot PEEPS never heard of.Haaa.hung out in the COOL Clubs in NYC back then NO SENSE To mention saw the Glam.Punk.new wave faze.which I liked and got into. But I knew RUSH Was different.they helped me grow as a Musician through all that...Neil playing meant so much to me.Damn it hard to describe..He just that THING.With Alex and Geddy.chops.melody.great lyrics.odd time.sigs.that Neil always credited to his Drum heroes.Damn he was special.Thank you NEIL PEART!
The reason that Neil could write such deep lyrics is that instead of partying & getting high, he read all the time from science to philosophy. He said in an interview that he was never bored on the road, for he was reading, and he found ways not to be bored.
5:10, that look... ;0 "you got MASTAHED!!" ;0 didn't you?? ;) p.s. out of all their tracks, this might be my one end-all favorite of theirs... so fast on the hi-hat (probably the fastest "by-hand" track ever! sure sounds like it)... so atmospheric; outdoors and "inner-space" sounding; so complex and 'outer-space' in composition, like cygnus/hemispheres... yet a compact ten-or-so mins... COSMIC WAVES!
Those time signature changes are SICK! Only Rush could pull those off with such seamless, awesome artistry.
Your reaction made it that much better. RUSH fan for LIFE!!!
This blew my mind when I heard them play this live at Sandstone. 11th row. It was a ride! Better than any roller coaster.
So. Damned. Creative. Everything so interesting from this band. SO FREAKING GOOD.
Thank you for covering that song - it's been a favorite of mine since being in high school in the 80s! Complete mastery!
Arguably the best song, from the best album, by the best band on the planet.
Wish I could be listening to these rush songs for the first time again!!!! I’m jealous of your first time reactions..... brings me way back to my first rush experiences
Glad you dig it. Love Rush, been listening to them since I was 11 years old (1975). Once again, you've put a smile on my face. Cheers!
Wow....this is a DEEP track from Rush.....I would have recommended some different tracks for a first time listener.
Every Rush song is a virtual baptism by fire - you’re enveloped by the music and lyrics - and a Higher state of Mind is gained.
I’ve been sooo blessed to have grown up with them; they’ve been a source of inspiration through good and bad, and have helped strengthen my belief in Hope & Love above all things.
God bless you brother for discovering their music, and for being moved by greatness.
Disagree! Gotta dive right in! Get that full Rush experience! I would have started him off with the entire 2112 album.
Matt King If there’s was a first time listener looking for requests, I would probably start them off with the whole Moving Pictures album, and then go into, 2112, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, A Farewell To Kings, etc. I agree, you always have to “dive right in” with Rush, because they have so many different albums that span many different genres.
My favorite Rush lyric of all time...
Tide after tide
Will flow and recede
Leaving life to go on
As it was
I love your face (reaction to RUSH)!!! It never gets old! *RUSH RULES*
💜💫✌️🎵 Thank you for making these playlists!
I just spent an entire weekend watching your videos of several different bands and genres of music. What an amazing person you are. And a great reminder that being open minded can lead to much happiness. Thank you for all that you do.
