I so loved this reaction! Ren is my new favorite artist. Notice I said artist. I found his go fund me back when he first put it out....donated what I could. I love he's independent, doing what he can on his own. I know Sony dropped him when they realized how long his recovery would be. Stupid on their part, but yay for his fans. Ren's voice is so emotional, I love that his music is so versatile, very few people can couple a great rap cadence with an equally impressive singing voice. But holy cow, Chinchilla's voice.... her soft notes and high notes at the end are probably the most heartbreaking sounds I've ever heard in a song, it literally sounds like she's crying out desperately, a cathartic release. I think the only other time I've been so emotionally drawn into someone's voice is James Blunt's in Monster. This was awesome.
I love : How Ren uses architectural acoustics, whether inside or out on the streets, for their inherent musical resonance, and also how he graciously defers to those he pairs up with for a song -- even when busking, he allows his bandmates or fellow vocalists to shine -- he blends himself in and lets their contributions radiate until it is his time to roar. Above all his talent and skill, he seems to be a good soul and an admirable champion in the face of so many painful foes. I was born in 1988, I was raised to believe that there was nothing new or genius to compare with my elders consideration of original and genius and I agree...Kate Bush, the beatles, fleetwood mac, pink Floyd, Sam cooke....but then came eminem and now ren...I define originality and genius as having an album where practically every song could be there best....ren is a bard...

The kids are all right, man. I’m glad I’m not the only one moved by their mutual power off each other.
What I take from this song is the struggle with antidepressants and anti psycotics. As a person who has lived with a partner for 25 years who struggles with depression daily. Taking these pills basically erases her personality and makes her numb, essentially a "chalk outline" of her actual self. Years of her sitting in my lap and crying because she is so tired of feeling this way makes this song so impactful for me.
