  • Not everyday do you see Charlie Watts shaking it up. However, this warm-up ritual is utilized before he goes on stage. Keith Richards seems to be extremely supportive and entertained by the whole spectacle.

He often talked about being weary of the road and being a rockstar, but he was just a drummer’s drummer and kept going because of his love of the instrument. He simply LOVED playing the drums. Look at any interview with him and he would just check out of the dull and repetitive questions until you asked him about his favorite drummers or his Gretsch drums and his cymbal choices, or even his old hi hat stand, and his eyes would just light up and he’d come alive again.

Charlie was cool. He wasn't a drummer with killer solos or loud personality but he kept a steady and at times unpredictably evolving beat for a band whose name, reputation and number of hits was unmatched. Whether it was countryish "Girl with Far Away Eyes" or "Some Girls" or "Only Rock n Roll", the quiet, reserved little man held it together and made them unmistakably unbeatable.
Only The Beatles were in the same league and there will never be another Charlie Watts.
    Thanks Charlie, great job!
