Battery powered "dead rail" fascinates me. I'm always looking at ideas for making it work at N scale. (and forget about the complexities and nuisances with rail dead spots and "all wheel" pickups and such...)

Is it fairly simple to attach the loco motor to a battery and run the train off of battery power 100% of the time? I'm thinking of 3D printing my track, its a lot cheaper that way

Interesting idea, but why limit it to pulling a track cleaning car? Cover the battery with a boxcar and run an entire train. Thanks for sharing.

I do not think a track-cleaning car like that is good idea. All the track behind it is covered in steel dust, which is collected by the wheels of the other cars, but also stirred to fill the air - and then, even breathed in by the people around.
The BlueRail board might be a great idea; I need to see more to get a better understanding of the concept, the capabilities, and the advantages of using one such system.
