This movie was the reason I became a guy who dances ballet when I was younger. Like the ease they had at dancing with those golden men. The music, the notes, and when they stepped up to their tiles in order. It was just magical.

Yep, but it didn’t mean there wasn’t any effort put in it as there was a lot of effort put in it and this music cover here shows that as well as the impact of the music for someone to make a cover for it.
Arnie Roth really composed the childhoods of many millennial/gen z kids...He did all the Barbie films until 2009 and also a lot of music in Final Fantasy games and the Kingdom Hearts game series. Amazing composer! I love this cover so much too, it made me cry! Thank you

Roth's work on this movie was surely amazing! However, in this specific case I think he shines more as an arranger/"re-composer" (though a very good one), since this piece has its roots in classical music, in line with the rest of the soundtrack. The first musical phrase is based on an ancient Siciliana dance (late 16th century), made famous by Italian composer and musicologist Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936), who rearranged it in the 30s. It has been an idea of mine ever since I was a kid, after many times of rewatching barbie 12DP. That day that we turn 18, we also turn into ladies. We are not necessarily saying "good bye" to our childhood memories, but we're celebrating the fact that our childhood has really been amazing and barbie movies was just a part of it. If not, it even change some of our perspective in life. And even for a little time we felt like princessess, we experienced magic, we lived a fairytail.
For me, my first dance would be my father. And since the movie also tackles about their relationship with their own father, I really thought that was a nice coincidence too. I'm turning 18 in roughly two years. But I'm not currently sure if we can still afford to have an extravagant (or not even that extravagant,) ball/party. Since the pandemic really made things hard for us right now.
But hey, if there's one thing I learned in these Fairytail movies, then that is not to give up 'till the very end. Who knows, right? :)
