- Jason Sudeikis fell in love at homecoming...with improv. He's not in Kansas anymore, but that's where his love of improv started.
If you liked this video, there's a lot more where it came from. This is a small excerpt from a much longer conversation that you can watch right here: offcamera.com/issues/jason-sud...

"You have a doctorate."
" To a degree, yeah."
HA! I scrolled down to comments fully expecting to see this one. Well done.
Yeah, that was clever.
HES MY MAN CRUSH I LOVE HIM
as soon as he said that I had to come down here and check if any one else got it
He had to tassle the Hoff, didn't he? smh
The best improv Teacher I Had when I First started in Las Vegas.....Years have gone by but i remember everything.....I try do do justice to what i learned every show Thank you Mr. Sudeikis
That's awesome!
I saw Jason at Second City Las Vegas over 20 years ago!
He is brilliant..I'm a big fan.Just a natural funny guy, not forced.
I love connecting other passions with life and acting! Acting literally allows you to learn so much about everything you knew about life!
So, "How to be Good at Improv" one must be born to the right family, surrounded by funny people, and play basketball.
ye... thats what i was gonna say
That’s HIS journey.
The point I see is how he sees the people around him. Improv is about being able to see everyone around you, appreciate everything about them. His attitude towards them is what got nurtured and developed. I've witnessed this happen with so many really amazing improvisers around me from all walks of life. They found that extra something that makes others look good in improv. That collaborative spirit. I'd even take it to the world of football...like a midfielder who sets up a play where a striker can send the ball into the net, and everyone cheers the striker. That's improv and that's what he's discovered
I saw him in '99 in Chicago at Improvolympic. Hilarious even then.
surrounded by funny people
making things on the spot
when im hot
energy levels
He uses the map of basketball to think through the territory of acting, genius!
Dude this show is awesome! It's awesome to see the stars as themselves!
his voice is crazy hot
everything is hot on him
His voice sounds like a sexy chainsaw...
If only he looked like one, too, huh?
You're a strange young man, Kimmy.
I want to have his babies
I am his huge fan precisely from the snl skit 'what's up with that'
Oooooohhhhh eeeeeee 😂😂😂what's up with that???? Lol THAT red tracksuit !!!!!
Damn it, now I want to play basketball with Jason Sudekis.
He´s the most beautiful man to me!!
Havin' a little trouble reading your comment. Can you turn your vibrator off for a second?
SNL's "Maine Justice" shows Jason's genius perfectly.
He has a lot of great and very funny characters there. Too bad the the mill that is the entertainment industry is chewing all up in the end. I am watching now "Ted Lasso" and to my big surprise, it is a really good show, even better than his lead character itself, you don't see that often. So he's doing kind of well now, but I am afraid it's the short up before "they" come and stick you on on their plan.
Thank you so so much for mentioning this show!! It is short lived and so underrated! I think I know both episodes by heart 😆 And Sudekis is super brilliant in it. Such a genius of improv 💪 🔥
@@TheASSedoTV Both episodes? there's a 10 episode series. I'd be glad if there were more. I caught it at some friends ;).
@@crebegea where do I find them?
That remains one of my favorite snl skits of all time!
He has such a cool voice.
OH MY GOD A FLOATING TORSO
These are really beautiful reflections. I never thought about the improv of basketball.
I really ike him and I agree acting and improv is sooo much easier than I thought lol. Im crying rn b/c Im super old now, wish I knew this younger but fuggit. Ive been doing well the past 3 years in the biz (outside of modeling) so yay! Anything is possible xx
Same! Xo
Loved hearing him explain Improv so well!
maine justice best improv of all time
Misleading title, but great video
@Billy West Well I was mainly referring to the fact that he didn't really provide any specific advice for how to do good improv, just that you'll be better the more you practice around better people which is essentially a given. But maybe you're right and me and my 48 pals are just stupid.
Homeboy, word of advice, assuming people around you are idiots is an idiot's fallacy. Assume people are smart and you'll learn a lot more. There's a specific tip for better improv; assume your scene partners are talented and lean into their better qualities, trust them. But what do I know, I've only been doing it around "iron" for 2 years.
Practice in life!!! Thats the message. Fuck classes. Life is your class.
What are the best ways of learning improv Comedy in conversations? Apart from watching Mystery Science Theatre?
i Love improv.. I would suggest to anyone to give it a go and don't be shy .. just enjoy it
Cliff's = Surround yourself with incredibly funny people
That's what the funniest comedians do that I've known. They hang around super funny people.
Ah shit. Now I have to go physically learn basketball?!
These vids are great. The titles though, yeesh...
"To a degree" ahahahahahaha
He said "through a degree" which meant he didn't get that as a honorary.
I think most people didn't even catch that one.

JASONN
Does anyone know what he means by 'greek chorus' at 1:25?
In ancient Greek theater, there was a small group of people (usually dressed in identical robes) who were part of the play but external to the action who stood to one side and served as narrators and commentators on the story. They spoke in unison, as a "chorus." So, all these people in Jason's head serve that function in his work, standing to one side and providing commentary on his improv.
I hope he's nicer now because when he was my improv coach he was less than....professional, I'll just say that. But, I learned a lot from him about improv (he's an improv master) as well as more constructive ways to teach and relate to people. LOL.
spill the t
tell me more about that, sounds interesting
Where'd he teach at?
I like how you leave a comment knocking a person and then when people ask questions about it, you ignore them. Where did he teach you improv? I call BS.
I didn't know these were here! Note: I'm not knocking him as much I as I am saying he was a rough teacher back in the day and I hope he's not anymore. He was one of a few teachers I had at the Second City Las Vegas. I was also taught by my overall fav teacher Kay Canon (Jason's ex). Later I was cast in the SCLV show, Scripless and was also Jason's understudy on the mainstage for a short time (this was all back in 2004 at the Flamingo Hilton LV) @Robinh4
I deadass thought this was about jazz improvisation until a minute in....
This gave me a good chuckle 😂
Same and i still stayed to watch to procrastinate practicing
Well I guess it kind of is. . .
You know he's good at basketball because of his Lithuanian background
They found me!
:35 - What in the world did he just say and how was it relevant at all?! "My proclivity to be a straight man ..." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
like a straight man to a foil! Both are some cool comedy mechanics to learn about
In a comic duo being the "straight man" has nothing to do with sexual preference. It is the one who sets up the jokes for the comic partner.
Coach Lasso
Jason's favorite move was to drop his uncle's name.
U done effed up Olivia 😢
his biggest accomplishment was slamming Mrs. Wylde
No advice on how to be good at improv cool cool
So, how to be good at improv?
Did he just say he is gay? (Hectors Rectum is real?)
hes dating a rocket Olivia wilde lmao
straight man is a comedy term
@@Thibault_95 Now married I hear.
@@crebegea they never got married but they were engaged for ages
This didn’t help answer my question………
We should all Seek God our Lord and Savior the one that sent Jesus to die for our sins before its too late.
May God Bless You all and your loved ones.
He's not even sure how hes good at improv.
cocaine...
Smells great less filling
why the fuck is this shit in black and white what fucking time period are we in
I didn't laugh once
This was, disappointingly, WAAAAAY more pretentious than I'd expected.
Dude this entire thing is crazy pretentious. Lame!
Why would anyone listen to him about improv? He is terrible.
And he is best playing the straight guy when scripted. Overrated.
I'll take his work in Ted Lasso over anything else I saw in comedy last year.
I love the basketball analogy
We should all Seek God our Lord and Savior the one that sent Jesus to die for our sins before its too late. May God Bless You all and your loved ones.
