If he’s going to be on the main card he should fight main card level competition
Bo is going to follow the new UFC prospect model of 5 or so soft matchups, then a huge jump against top 5 contender followed by a title shot. Such as O’Malley or Alex Pereria, and they’re currently trying to do it with Umar Nurmagomedov.

But let's be honest, Charles isn't getting paid less being the opener or if he was main event. I look at it this way, if he's the 1st fight, you know they're gonna get more PPV traffic, they're gonna have more ppl in the stadium earlier cuz if it too.
Faber used to do this, be the prelim headliner, to get seen for free and get more ppl amped.

Interesting compairing Weidman with Nikal.
Weidman showed up and beat everyone in dominant fashion to the point some people actually thought he was the next big thing. Veterans and other up and comers alike.
Bo Nikal has literally fought guys who never fought in the UFC and were cut right after.
It took Weidman until he was 7-0 until he fought Maia… before that 6 of his opponents were literal nobodies.
He fought Uriah Hall in a much smaller promotion. Bo Nickal currently has 5 fights, with only one of them being unrelated to the UFC.
Both are decorated college wrestlers… with Bo obviously being more decorated. So yea, it wasn’t a bad comparison. You just don’t know wtf you’re talking about.
They wanted to get their hands on Bo early in his career but still want him to fight regional caliber opponents under the ufc banner. I think it’s smart but it doesn’t belong on 300 main card.

Anyone remember the controversy when they turned down the lights for McGregor on the prelims? Don’t know why but this kind of reminds me of that.
Instead of Cody Brundage, if you want a more high-profile opponent, I hear Brendan Allen just lost his dance partner for his upcoming fight... that would be a heck of a test for Nickal. That would be giving Nickal the Alex Pereira treatment.

The UFC wants to do everything to put the star aura around Bo without the most important part, giving him real tough obstacles. In the end I think super long term the whole thing where the UFC gives someone with star potential an easier path to the belt through low ranked guys and favorable matchups does nothing but put the credibility of titles in question. Sure Sean has just some blatant haters but let's not pretend like one of the big gripes a lot of people have with him is they feel like he hasn't really been through the fire yet. That will happen every single time the UFC tries to force feed us a star. This isn't boxing, we don't need a fighter to have a perfect flawless record for us to respect and appreciate them. The UFC shouldn't play the in between game with Bo. Either establish him as a star and throw him in the deep end with the sharks on a main card. Or let him breathe and slowly build his resume like everyone else on the roster. But stop putting him in front of us like he's the new big bad monster from our worst nightmares and have him only match up with carebears.
To late for it now and he already has a big of support from his wrestling days and the UFC looks for stories and make money of off of them!

I actually feel like Bo's very similar to early Khazmat. Sure, he hasn't been battle tested, but the eye test feels so pointless that you look past it.

I don't think he should be on the main card, but to say he has no appeal for the PPV audience is not a good take. He has a massive following in wrestling stateside, ADULT MEN that are more likely to buy a PPV than the teenagers that call themselves O'Malley fans

This whole concept of "deserving" is an abstract value. Who is the objective authority that quantifies this "deserving" that I hear people speak of? Is he a UFC fighter? Did the he get selected to fight on that day at that time? Does he have a reasonable chance of winning his bout? It's his moment to step up and get a chance to have some broad exposure. How does he become a star if he only ever fights on the prelims? We will truely know if he is deserving when the fight is over and one fighter has his hand raised.
Even Ikran vs Bo woulde be insane
Jim Miller vs Bobby Green is more deserving to be on the main card than Bo Nickal vs Cody Brundage. Miller and Green are sorta fan favourites both of them and they will probably bring a fight. Bo will just wrestlefuck Cody until he can get a sub or TKO at best.

I promise you if Bo asked for a big name (and I mean actually asking for one not just talking shit on Twitter) the he would get a big fight. He is at least partly responsible for fighting consistently terrible people. If he had even a half decent opponent there would be so much less complaining about this fight being a main card fight.

Bo Nickel has just a great negotiators for him because he said that if he is not on the main card, he would leave the UFC. He has said that multiple times, and he gets away with it. I think that ranked guys don't want to fight him and that is why he is getting those journeymen. He has also been very open about that he wants to take his time to be better in MMA before competing those top 15.

Bo being on the PPV actually does push me over the edge to buy it. I do wish they'd give him a higher level opponent and maybe they will if he steam rolls this guy like he has everyone else, but yeah any of us with a background in wrestling are extremely interested to see what he can accomplish in MMA. This is as close as we are going to get to a current David Taylor or Kyle Snyder wrestling phenom trying to break through in MMA. He didn't ask to get thrown on the card that high up, but if he puts on a show again they really need to let him try to climb the ranks.
Andre Muniz, Andre Petroski, Michel Pereira, Jun Yung Park, Ikram Aliskerov, Roman Kopylov, Joe Pyfer. All unranked middleweights that would be an impressive and competitive matchup for him.
Bo is the main reason I’m buying the card . SEast cut out last time and I vowed to buy it every time Bo fights after that. Been watching him since Penn state!

I wanna see what more Bo can do, if he's as good as we're being let to believe I'm fine with putting him up quick. If he can do it, he will, or if he's gonna be a khamzat and be average WHEN YOU CAN get him to fight rather than Twitter warrior, the he'll be that and we'll know.
Though I do agree he should've been fighting a little bigger name, I was a little thrown by the opponent as well
You also have to remember that the entire American Wrestling community is behind Bo. People are excited for him and have been wondering why they won’t feed him better competition despite being more dominant than some ranked fighters in his division.

Bo was selling venues when he was wrestling so im sure he has got a lot of people who will buy the PPV to just see him alone and many may not even be MMA fans but are Bo fans. He was a massive name when he was just wrestling so it makes sense to have him on the PPV to draw an extra few thousand buys thats the only sense I can make of it than headlining a Prelim.

I think they are spreading the big names out because they know the main card isn't what they originally wanted. So instead they will try to get the viewership up on the prelims. Get so the same amount of people watch from start to finish instead of just the main card.. just a thought
They must think getting the College Wrestling crowd is worth the spot for Bo. He may not feel like a star but he's about the biggest thing there is in that space.

Bo Nickal Stan, here. I grew up wrestling in that area of PA. If you knew what he's capable of, and you were Dana, you would also pander to the white boi murica crowd. You JUSTTTTT did a piece on how Entertainment needs to be paired with Ability/Skill regarding Mac and people saying UFC is all entertainment.

Bo likely isn't skilled enough yet for real striking at the ranked level, but Dana wants his money. Who deserves the spot has always been decided by skill AND entertainment. In that sense, he kinda deserves the spot. He's a unique, all American that can grapple with the DDS or whatever they were under danaher. He's shown striking potential. With the right reps and experience like this, I think Dana is betting smart on his future skill and cashing on his entertainment draw.
Also, to comment on the Fig and Cody positioning, they are both no longer entertaining or skilled enough as far as fans seem concerned. Pennington is literally being fully ignored and she's CURRENTLY strapped, forget Kayla. I feel like there's some excess hate here, boys. Hate money for not giving us Khamzat Nickal and on Cody for getting the spot, not on Bo.
Being on the main card isn't more impressive than headlining a prelim card. This is the right call. He's not interesting enough on his own. So keep building him on big ppv cards like this to get him the exposure.
pirerra vs hill is a great fight. give pirerra his respect, yes he got fast tracked but unlike almost everyone else he won 2 belts. everyone else who got fast tracked ended up beeing humiliated.

I think Bo might actually be someone who can pull in buyers that wouldnt have bought the ppv anyways because of his collegiate wtestling fanbase. I mean, Mma fans will buy (or stream) the card anyways, but dads with their sons who arent real mma fans but have wrestled/are wrestling in college might buy it to see bo
But they’re feeding him a guy who’s last fight was on the prelims of a Fight Night.
I’d like to see this fight be against a higher ranked opponent, but he’s 5-0 finishing people…huge pedigree…and he’s the future of the weight class instead of the past on the edge of retirement. Look at the 155 weight class…it’s a who’s who of the about to retire list.
The main card is going to be viewed by a lot of casual fans. They might not know half the guys on the main card so to them they are all of the same level. This is a great way to trick people who don't know better that Bo is a big dominant star. The profit doesn't come from the fans who watch every fight.
No one had an issue with Khamzat fighting Ling after only three fights! Bowie going to be the next big star so stands to reason he gets main card. Also people moaning about his competition must realise no one wants to fight him so what do you do? You build his name on a big card so he gains more fans and people have to fight him for money!

People are hating on Bo based on his card placement but he has no input in it. The UFC makes this choice. I will say the analytics backs it up, the TV ratings for both contender series fights were the highest ever recorded for the show. And his pro debut with iKon was the most watch UFC fight pass fight in history. I know it may hurt some feelings but Bo has a bigger core audience than a lot of the ranked fighters fighting on the prelims(think Aljo). There will be 25k PPVs strictly bought to watch Bo fight from the wrestling community. That’s $1,750,000 in revenue and they are paying Bo and Brundage combined around $125k.. It’s just business
Nickal should really fight a guy like Weidman, an easy fight which also gives him hype. You’re also forgetting that O’Malley pretty much went from Rulian Paiva to Petr Yan.

Main card 300 should have been like 10 fights. Should've PACKED the whole card so people without espn+ can watch more fights other then early prelims and main live.
