- In this episode, I dive deep into my 1998 BMW 540i to see if I can fix a misfire and poorly-running motor. I replace the fuel injectors, intake manifold gaskets, air filter, spark plugs, and even the cabin filters. It's a big old job and I hope the car turns out better for it!

Interesting video content! Can't wait to see more of your videos!
Great video, but you haven't shown us how did you take out the fuel injector and installed them back?
I love your videos so much
Great video! Thank's for that!
Would you please share the sparkplug and the injector manufacturer and type no. ?
It would be much appreciated.
Hello... Great job!!... I noticed that the new injectors were not the same shape as the previous ones. How's that?
How much time did all the work consume from beginning to final completion? I to have BMW, E39 540I 1997. I am looking to do all the seals, fuel injectors as well. From one Colorado Man to Another.
Thanks for watching! It took about 8 hours all together (minus breaks and using simple tools). I was really taking my time and had to do some trial and error with it. Really not too challenging on a weekend.
@@TheRustyToolbox thank you for your response, I'm looking to do my fuel injectors sometime in the near future. Either way, your video is very helpful to me. At least I know on how to do all the deals. Once again, thank you for the video for all of us BMW enthusiest.
Hi! What dou You think, what exactly fixed Your car's misfire, was it injectors or something else?
My 540i E34 works exactly the same as Your car after fixing those things You did. I have replaced intake gaskets, temp sensors, crank and cam sensors, spark plugs, both oxygen sensors, all the gaskets of the intake, breather valve, both of the fuel filters, tried new fuel pump, tried different throttle valves, cleaned MAF and tried one from my friends 740i and.. still very rough idle, doesn't rev up very well etc. I'm starting to think that maybe I should also replace injectors .
Same issue I've done everything still rough lde is it the injection system he left out the most important parts
What kind of codes were being thrown before you decided to do this? I’m getting a misfire in cylinder 5 even after changing spark plug and coil.
If you're getting that specific cylinder, you may just want to double check the grounds and the actual wires connecting the coil for any cracks. There is a small chance it could be a vacuum leak as well. Have you checked for any vacuum leaks?
The Rusty Toolbox I haven’t had the chance. I plan to really go through it this Wednesday and really see what’s going on. Thanks for the quick response
That's the pipe that connects to the oil separator
That car is a lot of work huh?
