You have a bad thottle stepper motor, and or a bad carburator that should have been fixed(replaced) under warranty. The carb is not adjustable. This unit should take no more than 3 pulls to start.
Bought one a couple years ago for work. Right out of the box it wouldn't hold steady RPMs. It did ok under a load, but still not right. I probably put 30 hours on it or so then it sat around for a while, the warranty was up and I never got it fixed. The next time I went to use it, it started fine, but then gas started leaking out around the carb. It sat for a few months then I got it out to see where the gas was leaking from. This time it didn't leak. Maybe the float was stuck when it was leaking. Still idles rough, surges up and down.
Is it possible that the car exhaust could be tripping the co2 safety shut off? I noticed as soon as you moved the generator further away from the exhaust it fired right up.
Yeah I have a "Ducar pattern" lil genset Im going to use to try and get a Cummins L9 goin tomorow morning in -18°f. I'm keeping it inside for now. I tested it today with 4 year old avgas with two stroke oil and it started after I let it warm up. Going to run the block heater tomorow with it cause the landlord is a see you next Tuesday and told me I can't plug it in despite the fact it pays my rent.
Oddly enough i have a big firman 3650 and a black diamond 2300. they all start after 7 or 8 pulls in our Ontario winter's. But my $288 power it 2000 w inverter generator i bought 6 yrs ago from Walmart. That has probably 1000 hrs on it. Starts easier than the other two.
Too much choke. Also, be sure to keep fresh NON ETHANOL gas in it. Run carb dry when it’s going to sit for a while. I speak from experience 🤔 I know no ethanol gas might be hard to find in the peoples republic of Minnesota!

Bonjour, J'avais le même problème démarrage difficile. Après une visite chez le représentant de Nolan il m'a conseiller ceci. Ouvrir l'interrupteur, tirer 4 à 5 fois et fermer l'interrupteur. Attendre 5 à 10 minutes et essayer de nouveau, pour moi il démarre immédiatement après. Pourquoi je ne pourrais vous dire mais ça fonctionne super bien. En passant je suis du Québec, donc froid - 18 est assez courant.
@@3RiversFishingAdventures excuse me. Remember not to run your generator in wet conditions. Instructions warn us not to let your generator get wet and generators should not be used in wet conditions because you could get electrocuted. Generators can only be used in dry conditions so you won’t get electrocuted. I know a lot about generator safety and I notice some people not using their generators carefully which is risky. So please make sure you are following the generator safety instructions. Thank you

@@The_Happy_Aviation_Enthusiastwe are in the ice fishing belt and I can assure you generators are a very popular item on the ice and ran all winter. This is not uncommon. Real world test. And it was not snowing, just very cold.
How has the generator held up? Lots of hate for it online. I'm guessing trolls from other generator mfrs. They are all posting about how poorly it runs, and how it has spark plugs that are too tight, and cracked, etc. I'm just trying to decided between a Firman and this. I want the higher output of the Onan, but have more data points on the Firman. Would love a follow up long term insights or just a comment reply, if you have second. Thx for the video!

It's such a little guy, just store it in your basement, then it will be room temperature and ready to go when you need it!

Take the gas cap off. It could be vapor locking
Also take the gas cap off. These easily vaporlock due to poor venting design. When mine dosent start this almost always works.

I guess it's possible. I didn't even think of that. I'll have to do some more testing.

If it will start in Minn. in January it should start in Panama anytime. Thanks!

Yes it has ran great. I just feel like it shouldn't be that hard to start. I try to run it every few months and it takes many pulls each time.

what type/weight of oil are you running at this temperature ?
0w30 or 5w30
How you like it other than it being cold blooded. Seems decent
It's very quiet and compact. Perfect for what I need it for and a few hundred cheaper than a comparable Honda.

I have a 2 year old Cummins, runs like shit now. It leaks fuel like crazy outta the carb if stitch is left on run and if unit isn't actually running.
