  • This is the second time I'm camping with my tent trailer. We came to King's River, an area where I camped many times in all 4 seasons. Winter is great because it's not that cold. Also went for a hike and tried river fishing but I'm really not good at it so it was more frustrating than anything. Still we had a great time!

      Thank you for watching! Hopefully the pop up will work out for you. A lot of people love it.
      I ended up not really liking it after all and sold this one, and a year ago the bought an A frame. That's perfect for me! I made a few videos about it already, maybe check it out? You might want to take one like that instead 😊

    If you use weight or diving bait, hold the rod tip up higher and you have nore control over how deep it goes. To cast further can be part the amount of resistance/drag you have set or try casting sidearm because it will be more straight rather than going high or getting caught by the wind.

    You use the smallest weight possible to help it cast out and maybe a tiny float if it sinks to fast. It varies on the current of the river. So don’t get discouraged. The current is the problem on river fishing. So use your bait but ad a float, this way you can set the depth of how far for the sink. It’s a little like fly fishing, unless you use bottom bait. A paste!? If they bite the float will sink. Reeling it in will seem the same way, but this way you are not dragging the bottom.

      Thank you! Yes, I'll definitely need to learn this. I'm actually going back there today with a friend who knows about fishing lol.
      Maybe I'll learn it today 🤞

    Try fishing with a clear float that you can fill with water trailing behind it with a dry or wet fly. I have also found what they call a San Juan worm an artificial fly often works very well. You might want to try fly fishing. Don't be afraid it's not hard. And even if you don't catch anything it's still fun and it's a good chance to practice your technique. Kast Masters gold and silver are usually pretty good and Panther Martins with black and yellow dots work well. Also make sure that your line is full on your spool. 4-8 lb. test should help you cast better. Happy Camping and good Fishing Doug from Colorado

      Thank you so much! Fly fishing sounds like something I should learn. It doesn't seem that hard. And your right, my like is not full in the spool. Does it make a big difference? Just curious.

    What's the product name that you are using above the bunks? Is that just a tarp?

    • @Huntress308
      @Huntress308  Před rokem

      They call them Gizmos. Kind of a weird name but if you Google it, you will find it. It came with my trailer so I don't know how much or who sells it.
      It's more than a tarp, it's insulated, the silver side is supposed to face up to keep the sun away and the trailer cool, and in the winter it's the other way around.
      It also protects from rain which is the most important in my opinion.

    • @Huntress308
      @Huntress308  Před rokem +1

      It's kinda warm. I would say it's between a canvas tent and an rv.
      You have walls, but half of it is canvas - it contains the heat pretty well, but of course not quite as well as a regular rv.

    • @Huntress308
      @Huntress308  Před rokem +2

      @@t0nyT this was not really a campground. It's public land (national forest) along the Kings River.
      There are no bathrooms or tables or anything so you have to bring all that. But no one is usually around.
      In busier times there are some people, but there is so much space, they won't be close (it would be rude to camp very close)
      You go to Pine Flat Lake and keep going on Trimmer Springs rd. Keep going until after you pass the lake and you're just going along the river. You can camp really anywhere but this is when you pass the bridge, turn right and it's right there.
      If you kept going and not turned right, there would be a second bridge. You can keep going on the side before the bridge or pass the bridge, turn right and keep going. This would take you to either side of the Kings River with some campgrounds. Free and most would have bathrooms and some tables.
      If you look at the map and read these directions, it will make more sense.
