- Many were asking for a final tool trailer walk thru, so I was happy to have the tool trailer back in the shop for the weekend so I could do a final tour. Obviously everyone is going to need their trailer organization a specific way to fit their needs, and I have no doubt others have way more amazing tool trailer organization, but this is how mine has come together and for the most part, I have really loved it. I love the challenge of finding the best possible storage solution for all of the tools.

Great job Kyle. Your business depends on this trailer. I hope you have a good trailer hitch lock and high security padlock on the door(s). Maybe even a GPS tracker on the trailer. Some low-life would love to drive away with your trailer and all of the RR essential tools. It happened where I worked. As far as the weight, yes, you should check. My guess is you are good to go with most weight sitting over the trailer axles. But be really careful about tongue weight and the max limits of the hitch on your truck. We had a trailer with too much tongue weight which reduced traction of the front wheels of the tow vehicle; an inexperienced driver applied the brakes when the trailer started fishtailing. It jackknifed the trailer, rolled the trailer onto its side at 70MPH and the torque of the trailer rolled the truck onto its top. It was a bad day for business and took a long time to recover.

It’s happened to me twice in my life. Glad I was prepared. I keep ‘em in pairs because it’s easy to panic and ‘waste’ the first unit. Then you calm down and unit #2 does the job. (Hopefully!)
Not sure what’s best for Li-ion batteries, but you have a lot of them and if one goes up, they all are at risk. Ask Boeing about battery fires.

Slick way to label the Pack-outs or tool storage is with a vinyl printer/ cutter.... I let the misses go wild and print images of different types and also letting to place on mine

I use a Brother P-touch labeling machine for everything and it is a invaluable tool to have. From household to work shop it works great.

The packout system is the best, I enjoy just watching other people nerd out on their setup like I do.
Head in to a tool truck like snap on or matco for more storage ideas. They have a peg board kinda thing on the ceiling that has the cloth style bungee chords that you could slide the levels or other long tools into.

I have my stabillas mounted on my trailer ceiling with fastcaps mounts best thing ever made plus it’s awesome to have mounted on the ceiling and out of the way! I also bought their track saw track mounts and have my tracks mounted to the ceiling!
Hey Kyle I know you have mentioned it here and there in certain videos when you discuss the tools that use them, but could you do a fastener video of all the different types of fasteners you use and what you use them for and what brands you recommend.
Love the trailer Kyle! The first thing I would do if it was mine is install a vice to the corner of one of the workbenches. Sometimes you just need to hold something securely!!
This looks so much more efficient than what you used to have, as you said in the video, everything now has a place so if anything is left out you know it should be put away somewhere which keeps it tidy all the time. Then when you need a tool you can go straight to it.
My suggestions would be, some battery powered LED lights, with a magnetic back, they last for ages off just a couple of AA batteries and would be ideal for inside when dark out and can be held on any metal strips like your small levels are. Also a small LED light for above the door & ramp on the outside so when you go to open up in the dark mornings or at night you have a light that comes on, this could be a small solar one as it would be outside.
A small white board, so you have somewhere to note down anything you think of during the day/week that needs loading or restocking when you next have the trailer back at home.
2 fold out camp chairs and perhaps a table or one of those pop out picnic tables. It wouldn't take up much room and would give you and Greg somewhere to sit on your breaks and to eat. It would make the break more of a proper break which means you come back to work refreshed and able to work better.
Somewhere for your drinks/coffee to sit, for example when getting ready in the morning you have somewhere proper to put your morning coffee. A simple hole cut into one of the worktops would do.
A small fridge if it wouldn't kill the power so in the summer you have cold drinks available during the day, or even a freezer for ice pops in the heat. A water fountain thing could be an option but probably take up too much space.
Somewhere to keep a change of clothes and boots for those days it is chucking it down so you can put on fresh dry clothes for the after lunch period. You always feel much better for it or when its cold in the morning, hot later you have the shorts to put on.
The least glamorous thing, a bin. There didn't seem to be anywhere for your rubbish. A bit of worktop with a big hole cut out of it and the bin slid underneath it, drop the rubbish through the hole into the bin.
A rail or something to hang up wet clothes and something for wet boots.
A radio/speaker for when you get bored listening to Greg or he gets bored listening to you!
Worth looking on Pinterest for storage ideas, you will get loads of ideas for things including solutions for your levels and also camping gear for things like a wash station etc if you wanted one.

Plenty of room for your levels overhead on the ceiling. Could be secured with a T shaped toggle through the handles.
The foam in the pack outs are the way to go!

That tower cabinet that says glass on it is really cool , I had to copy it , I varnished mine dark walnut super cool
Very nice. I work out of a van and find the problem with tool specific storage is as soon as you change a tool or get something new it all falls apart. In the end I always revert back to the tried and tested tool pile
Brother Labeler is a nice label machine. We use it a lot in our datacenters and server farms for labeling everything. BTW, I've been waiting for this walk through. Thanks for sharing.
Yes! I have one, and nothing beats slapping labels on anything that needs 'em. And the labels, at least the TZ type that my labeler takes, hold up real nice outside, provided the surface is clean, smooth, and non-porous. I have a few that have been applied outside to glass in Y2K, and they still look just as good now as they did then, save for a bit of accumulated grime.

Use a label maker and put two labels on each corner of the packout, it works great! Visibility is key
Thanks for the trailer build video. As I was building a paulk inspired trailer I knew that I wouldn’t like having all my tool out of their boxes. Some times I will grab the tools I know I need for a small job and it’s nice to have them in boxes. I came across this build and I’m happy to say my trailer is a mix between paulk and RR buildings.

Amazing set-up...only thing I would add is a couple stools to sit on & a mini fridge for cold drinks & a small microwave...Perfectionist
I’m a Makita man my self, but I dig the Milwaukee drawers.
They could make it in to my home if the price is right.

You need to come see the buildout in the back seat of my 05 Silverado. Everything is there drag it all out grab what you need and go. Just have to remember to toss it all back in. Hope nobody runs into me.

I'm a huge fan of making the most of small workspaces. Even though I don't work out of a trailer (my shop is a one car garage), I love watching trailer tours like yours because there's so many amazing ideas to be had.

tips -
- Put the Big guns in thier own slots vertically
in a cabinet on one side if u need them individually if u need them all together put them in a Packout rolling box on the right side with the rolling boxes fitting under the right side. so u are not lifting a huge heavy box full of nailers all the time. gets old.

- you all ready have an inverter & Battery. Add 5 200 watt solar panels on the Roof. giving you 1,000 watts. That Will Pretty Much take care of anything u need to do. add a charge controller.
You only need 2 panels if u are just doing battery charging. milwaukee / dewalt battery chargers draw very little power. less than 200 watts each if memory serves me right. So figure 1 solar panel per battery charger.
- the area that u have the batteries on the wall above the Bench , Put 2 battery chargers there attached to the wall instead of a couple battery holders.
- if u want a Mean Power plant - Purchase ( 2 ) - 6 volt Deep cycle Trojan golf cart batteries wire in series to make 12 volts. ( series is + to - To + to - ) Take the 12 volts & Run that to a 2,000 watt pure sine wave inverter & u can Run anything 115 volts up to 20 amps off your trailer. All depends if u just want to charge batteries or Run Wet vacs & saws off the trailer.
- u only need one or two solar panels to just charge batteries.
- Look on the back / bottom of chargers to figure out your power requirements.
- Amps x Volts = Watts --- Remember this formula allways. if u have any 2 u can figure out the other.
- Levels - are Best stored flat against the ceiling or on side walls. using pieces of rectangular aluminum tube would look nice. can be obtained from any metal supply. or prob. off the net too. 4 - 6" pieces would prob work. at whatever dimension levels are.
- i Was organizing my truck & a viewer of mine gave me a Great idea. i used to stack packouts flat like u do & He Suggested Stacking them Like Books on a shelf. Opened up a Whole New World for Me ! No More Digging for the bottom one. They are All at Waist height if Stacked Like " Books " & u can Get access to Alot More boxes Easily.

Awesome build Kyle, an idea for level storage, you can mount those bench top clamp that you have clamped the 9ft track on the ceiling on the trailer and just clamp the level to the ceiling.

I like to offer a suggestion for dealing with your chargers. Get a 24 X 36 inch piece of 3/4 inch plywood. and mount your chargers to it with a power strip on the top to plug in the chargers. This can then be placed under the counter top on shelf and brought up and placed on the counter top when the need arises.

A small cargo stretch net would make a great “door” for the random tool shelves.

11:25 You could build your own plywood drawers along with heavy duty drawer slides. Drawer slides need a 1/2 clearance each and if you use 1/2 plywood you would lose a total of two inches in width for each storage bay.

Looks awesome, you could put solar on top of the trailer and a setup for charging while you are on the job. I’ll take your tool batteries as they die instead of turning them into HD or wherever you get them. Great video.

You need the fastcap hangers for the levels and the tracksaw tracks. I picked up their hangers for the tracksaw and have my makita tracks mounted to my garage door at the house. Those bigger packouts you have to lift out of the shelf to get to your tools have you considered just building a drawer instead of those packouts? You could make them to where they wont open unless you want em open and still be able to foam em out like the packouts.

I like black gaffer tape. It is more durable than painters tape. And i use a silver sharpie. It contrast each other nicely

Sweet trailer. I know you were not terribly interested in doing solar but... if you go to ebay you can get some really inexpensive 2nd use solar panels. The solar farms have to replace these and you'll still get another 10 years of use from them. I got like 20x265w for $1k delivered. You can mount that flush on the roof and trickle charge your battery and then you have sooo many batteries you could probably just charge for free in that trailer and run your full lights.
Rome wasn’t built in a day but with all those tools and a Greg I bet Kyle could have a good go at it!

I like how you use the Packout drawers, but I would have used a different type of system to secure them in their location, because then you could simply pull the entire set out and then connect it to the lower rolling system and take the tools to the job/working area, instead of running back and forth if you need more tools. Sort of defeats the main purpose of that system. It looks like you'd be better off just building drawers in those shelf areas, you'd definitely get more interior drawer space that way.
So clean and ready to get out and get dirty again!
If I could set your trailer up from scratch, you would walk in & in a few seconds, you would know if any cordless tool was missing or left out via shelf system with adjustable dividers to accommodate tool size. open hole = missing tool. (LED backlit of course) Not a single cordless tool would be hidden in packouts. No wasted time opening lids to grab a tool. Also, clear totes allow you to see what's where, but since you have the packouts, a yellow dot on front would be for DeWalt accessories, etc...

For labels, check out FastCap’s Kaizen labels. White pvc with super sticky tape in the back. Awesome
I second. Much more readable than blue tape but just as easy to modify. Label makers are great once you’re sure nothing will change, which IMO requires about 20 yrs. 😂. Until then I want a label I can easily change.

Kyle: If you like organized storage, you should visit Scott Air Force Base and visit the flight line tool room. Plus you would probably find the flight line and the aircraft very impressive!

Have you seen the guys video on a Milwaukee system where he has a battery powering lights in his trailer like LED tube lights it’s pretty cool
Looks great but inverter technology and battery technology have improved. Magnasine 4024 with 2 battleborn batteries will power all your outlets and you can add a flexible solar with victron charger. Plugging it in to the grid will be needed but not as frequent.
I would add: Starlink internet on the top for job site data, better lighting (rope lighting), phonelic tags for labels, TV for break, and a coffee machine. Also I know people think Milwaukee invented the pack out system but Pelican cases has been doing it for a very long time.

Genuinely if you are looking for charging solutions have a look at the overland groups. Go something like a redarc bcdc1240 with a lithium battery set up plus an inverter that would pretty much set up your trailer to be self sufficient
