  • This is the only video footage I have of my Capri with the 351 Cleveland in it. Taken August of 2000. This is the second time I raced this car. The first time was May of 2000 with it still in primer. Only was able to make 2 runs before a major failure that day. I was using a C6 torque converter with an input shaft adapter for my C4. I had used this setup in my '68 Mustang for several seasons that I raced prior to building the Capri. On the second run, the splines in the adapter stripped. I sent the torque converter back to A1 and had them convert it over to a C4. It took 3 months to get it back. This was the first day back, I had painted the car in the mean time. I was experimenting with different launch rpm's and other stuff trying to figure the car out. Watching this footage, I discovered that the car was nosing down, then back up right off the line. Turns out the secondary power valve was being uncovered. After I plugged it and increased the jetting an appropriate amount to compensate, the car immediately started running 6.80's. A couple years later, I installed the UR-19 tunnel ram and 2 holley's in my profile picture. The car ran low 6.60's then.
In a couple of the last clips you can hear my kids in the background. In the last one you can hear "Go, go Daddy, Go, go... That was my son Brandon who is now grown up and a very successful person, as is his twin brother, Brett, who you can see running towards the camera at the end.

Started racing there after Sunset shut down originally in the mid 90's. Lucky always acted like you shouldn't be there and I damn near had to get physical with him one time when I won King of the Hill to get my money. Who is running it now that he has died?

@@Lou99ws9 They were certainly running this year, and their Facebook page was being updated each week with the winners, but never heard who took it over. I think Lucky died last November.

I cracked a cylinder wall in 2003. Ran a couple iterations of a 347 after that. Haven't raced this car in quite a while and plan to sell the chassis some time this spring.
