  • What is a Parameniscus Cyst:
    Meniscal cysts occur when synovial fluid becomes encysted, often secondary to a meniscal tear. When they extend beyond the margins of the meniscus, they are termed parameniscal cysts, they are always benign cyst but can cause issues.
    These cysts can cause pain, weakness and difficulty walking and doing activity, treatment usually involves treating the cause of the cyst which is the meniscus tear.
    Sometimes the parameniscal cyst can reoccurs and sometimes we recommend them to be removed. Dr. Gonzalez can remove these cysts with high resolution Ultrasound in the office with local anesthesia.
