- I was laid off on Christmas Eve.
This way I do not get paid for the holiday. I had some use it or lose it PTO I was going to use the next few days. I'm told I won't be paid out for these either.
This also means I do not get an annual bonus after busting my ass all year.
I did not get one the previous year either as I was a "temp". So that is two years.
My replacement will be making about 3x more than I.
I do not get severance pay. The bonus would have been nice.
The state unemployment is junk, It doesn't even pay enough to cover groceries.
The job....I grew to despise it. It was great at first. The only issue was getting a quick yes or no through your stereotypical executive which could hold things up. I cleaned the department up, everything was coming and going in a day but for the one bottleneck.
But then....I got a new co-worker who was a micromanager. Could I have told him to buzz off? I don't know. Everyone is a director, or not just a vice president like you see in old television shows where you had a large office and assistant, but you're a SENIOR Vice President in an open floor plan with no assistants! Or you are an owner. I think we had 5 of those.
So, what now?
Well this channel was experimental. I defaulted into travel and hotel vlogs mixed with history. I didn't get a chance to get fully into it though. I have a lot of footage to still go thorugh. I've been refining my approach each time. But I didn't have much time to do so. I'm not into my earlier stuff. It comes down to time and oppotuntiy. A daily blog? I don't know. They tell me that youtube is about niche, but I find rnadom things get better views personally. My favorite videos get the least views. I see others complain about the same thing.
SO I've split things up into about 4 channels. It'd be nice to work on these, that was always my goal.

Years ago, my husband was working part time with enough hours for medical insurance. You guess it, they cut his hours so he couldn’t qualify for medical insurance. This was at a city college.
I had a gig that was cut back to meet the part-time threshold too when they added that law. This is when I learned that food stamps isn't a safety net program for regular people. You can afford rent but not food, or food but not rent. You make too much for assistance, but you don't have enough for both. What a wonderful system (along with other things I learned).
You're lucky, I was laid off just before the holidays so they made sure I didn't get paid for Thanksgiving also. I am engineer and senior citizen. Management was changed so he was not familiar with my work. They kept the younger worker, same salary grade and pay as me but much younger and was only there few months.
I guess retirement is not an official thing if you do not get anything out of it versus being plainly "laid-off"?

That will just cost you more money for a lawyer and result in nothing. Best thing to do is move on find something else.
The problem here is that both parties have identical economic policies, as well as identical international policies. Obama, Bush, Clinton, McConnel, Biden, Pelosi... identical. The only difference is that the Dems cater to upper middle class voters and minorities, and the Republicans cater to social conservatives and the Walmart crowd. Difference in PR, not policy
I don't disagree, they are the same, but I wouldn't use the word cater. Pander is more like it, but neither does that much for their pandered with the exception of one or two people in each.

Truthfully there is monetary policy-set by the fed, and economic policy, set by congress. If economic policy implements high spending, monetary policy has to be tight. If economic policy is overly conservative, monetary policy is stimulative. Just another layer of checks and balance. But a single politician won’t have an impact, you need a majority. In this current age and time, the majority is in favor of spending and not cutting for fear of being unpopular. So the middle class is vaporizing, the lower class is growing due to middle class shrinking, and rich are getting richer because of all of the stimulus trickling up to them from the bottom via stimulus and consumption.
