Citroen Berlingo Fuel Filter Change

- Changing the fuel filter on a Citroen Berlingo 1.9L Diesel DW8 engine. This type of filter matches certain Peugeot partner vans too. I used a large syringe to remove the diesel from the filter housing but there is a drain on the lower right side of the housing that you can open by turning it anti-clockwise. Hola gente, compre una Partner 2004 1.9 gasolera y me salta la alarma de ( aceite STOP) esto me hace cuando regula y en caliente, el que me vendio me dijo q empezo hacer cuando lavaron el motor pero a mi no me convence me rompe las bola y entiendo que es grave,el mecanico me dijo que tiene fuga de presion en los metales. la pregunta es, que puedo hacer para q me dure mas q recaudos tomar, la camio arranca de 10 no fuma tampoco la quiero cagar a palo no paso de los 90km, espero respuesta. Se me rompió el cebador del filtro gasoil por qué por ahí sale gasoil cuando lo cebo que se cambia la cuba completa o solamente la cubeta del cebador espero su respuesta gracias

The fuel filter on my 19 year old Berlingo van needed doing as it hadn't been touched for years. Thanks to this video I did it myself and replaced a very chocolate coloured filter. My only problems were the camber of the kerb meant some diesel slipped out when I took the cap off, so make sure the ground is completely level, and starting it again straight after. I counted how many times you primed it but it wouldn't go on that. I primed it another 5 times but still no good. I tried just keeping it cranking and eventually it started up. It might just be me but it feels like it's driving much smoother. Love the video and it shows there is no need for jabbering all through it. A big thank you. Just one question, is the fuel under much pressure as I'm just a bit worried about the cap being properly sealed?
I had to pump more but I shortened it for the video. Sorry about that :). I wouldn't think the fuel is under high pressure but I'm not 100% sure. I haven't got the van (or manual) anymore but I'll see if I can find out. Glad the video helped you by the way !

You can fill the filter housing with diesel purge .....
this the last of easy maintenance psa diesel engines , anything later is over engineered crap ..
If you still have one , keep it as long as possible as well as the earlier xud models...
The ones b4 the dpf filter are best

Use a flat bladed screwdriver to carefully prise it up a bit at a time

I’ve just done the filter on mine, I’ve pressed the prime button but It won’t start help !!!
Did you keep pressing the primer button until it became hard to press after changing the filter ?. Were there any starting issues before you changed it ?

I’ve done this. However I have bubbles in my airlines and won’t start. Until I hand prime the car everyday. Any help.

Was it like that before you changed the filter ?. Is the outer ring on properly and the filter housing lid fully pressed into place, and the hose on the filter lid fully pushed on until it clicks into place ? There must be some air seeping in there somehow.

What year is your Berlingo ?
There is a drain plug at the bottom of the filter housing. Open the plug and drain the diesel into a container. Then close the plug and restart the vehicle. If it is difficult to start, use the priming pump and try again.

Hi, I've been told either a bad fuel pump or I should try changing my filter
When you turn on the ignition , I hear a noise for a few seconds before you fire the car up , can you tell me if that is the fuel pump ?
The fuel pump is one possibility. You should probably have a mechanic listen to it just to be sure

I only removed it to clean the housing but you don't really have to
Very good but...why to change a disel from the conteiner ? You can just change a filter , put it in that diesel and good to go :)
Thanks, it was just to clean any dirt at the bottom of it :)
Next time drain the filter first and do not use paper to clean the housing.This because of the chance of crosstermination between filtered and unfiltered diesel fuel.

Hi.....I have exactly the same car engine.....berlinmgo 1.9 diesel.....same as yours in this video...... I was driving and car engine conked out.....got it going again on downhill.....limped home......fuel tank is 1/4 full just did filter change as your video shows......there was no fuel in the reservoir around filter....DO I HAVE A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM???? put in new filter.....no pressure at all on primer button.....nothing coming through.....PLEASE HELP.....need my car up and running....
It sounds like it could be a fuel pump problem but you'll really need to have a mechanic look at it I'm afraid
@@screwsnutsandbolts thanks for your reply........I will fill filter housing full of fuel and see if it runs until it goes empty again........just on tic over......will also disconnect fuel line and turn over engin and see if any fuel spurts out.....into a milk carton container.........will let you know how i get on.......i love my berlingo...had it 14 years and this is 1st time let me down.....75500 miles 2004 model

@@screwsnutsandbolts Hi....a diesel fitter suggested to me .....before i go dropping the fuel tank and replacing the fuel pump.....he suggests i take a look at the primer button pump (the one you used in your video)....possible the diaphram membrane has holed......I have tried to pump fuel through .....theres no pressure at all.....will take a look at that first before i do anything expensive major.
