Herb Simon and Lynn Dunn are old school mentality and just the fact of hiring Sides with a non winning record speaks volumes. She was looking for someone that had good chemistry with the team. Obviously it is not Sides…apart from her few favorites.
True but with Clark on roster team is more profitable so he has to spend more money for it to be a tax write off. If Mitchell and Wheeler both leave that’s 500k salary freed up. Not sure why he’s just looking at low end free agents. There are like 30 big time free agents available at end of year.

I don't know know all the players well enough to who would best fit with Indiana Fever, but your assessment is spot on regarding what would help the team. The only thing I believe that needs to happen before considering new players is a new coach. The current coach has no idea how to take advantage of Caitlin Clark.
Esmerly Martínez was drafted by the Liberty and then cut. She played in Arizona, and they can hire her. She is good at defense and scores well.

They should not have released Celeste Taylor and they do have Grace Berger as a second PG. 🤦♂️ Each have good chemistry (based on the limited time they have played together)

I think Grace Berger has hit her peak and is not a force factor in the W any more. Some shine greatly in college but the tempo, etc..is just not conducive to their style of play. Berger would be one to dismiss asap.

The Fever need some damn defense in their team, nobody can't guard anyone. They don't need more scoring, Clark will give you 40 plus points every night, it's good enough for the WNBA. But if they SOMEHOW find a way to bring Sabally on the team the Fever will become a problem for everybody

Fever should definitely trade Wheeler, Katie Lou and Sides. We need a Stephanie Dolson or another big who can actually shoot the three and defend and another guard that can shoot 3's and take pressure off CC. I would love to get Edwards from UCONN.

Consider this: waive NaLyssa Smith, and replace her with Monica Czinano who is currently playing professionally in Hungary.
Monica used to be Caitlin Clark's teammate at Iowa, and was Caitlin's go-to big in the 2022-2023 season including the NCAA tournament when Iowa beat South Carolina.
And Monica already knows how to catch Caitlin's passes, set screens, and do pick and roll.

Next years will be very interesting because of the 2 expansion drafts and the new TV contract after 2025 which will switch up teams in many different ways. Lets hope the Fever will do a good job, but their track record sady says otherwise... Caitlin Clark needs to pull the strings and demand players fitting her System.

Yes, she can catch Caitlin's passes. She can do pick & roll. She can set screens. She has fantastic chemistry with Caitlin. She knows the playbook Coach Bluder created for Caitlin.
Waive Smith to make the spot open. She has been inconsistent, and her relationship with Carrington raises questions about her professionalism. Such as going drinking with Carrington when she is supposed to be at practice.
I think the Fever need another big, a guard who can really play defense & a vet that can really provide guidance. Tina Charles was picked up by Dream to be that vet leader for Howard, but has been criticized in the past for team jumping to get a championship & disrupting team chemistry. Now Angel McCoughtry is only a year older than Charles, has talked about standing up for your teammates & was also known as a very good defensive player, so that would give you the enforcer & defensive parts along with being a vet. Tiffany Hayes could be a possible option too. I know she came back to promote her headphones & CC & the Fever would get her a lot of attention.
As far as free agents, I would love to see the Fever get Satou Sabally. Elena Delle Donne could be an option, but she has had a lot of injuries & I think she only wanted to play if she could go to the Aces or Pheonix. If we are dreaming big, I would love to see Maya Moore come back & play with CC. Unfortunately I think Fever's options of good free agent vets will be limited until they get rid of Sides. The great attention on Fever & playing with CC are drawing points, but they need to announce that the Fever are going to have a great new head coach to attract any real free agency talent.
The Fever could just embrace their youth. They could add Czinano really cheap, she had the highest FG% in the NCAA & she could just come off the bench when your post players have too many fouls & automatically connect w/CC. And Czinano was trained by one of the best post coaches, Jan Jensen. I also wish they could either get Taylor back or pick up Muhl. Muhl would be a good defensive add & she can also play backup PG some too.

Tina Charles is a good idea.
You will surprisingly see a lot of veteran free agents lining up to play for the Fever alongside CC this offseason. They understand that as an exceptional ball distributor, having CC as a teammate will only improve their own scoring statline(s). Replacing Katie Lou, Wheeler, and Mitchell with better defenders, who can also score, will not be a problem, in my opinion.
That depends because if WNBA players are fixing games to allow Angel Reese to get ROTY potentially, then you have to wonder if majority of the league is against Caitlin or not. We'll see. I think if the Fever make the playoffs, then they have a shot as attracting a lot of key free agents because they'll look at that, and think the Fever could be a title team with more of the right pieces. Heck, 3 of their players are on the all star team this year, and we all know both Boston and Clark are only going to get better as time goes on.

But I think the notion that the "majority" of the league is against CC, although partially accurate, is also somewhat overblown. At the end of the day, players will look out for #1. Scoring more pounts in front of a sold-out crowd, while getting paid a max contract, is looking out for #1. 😉👌🏽 I agree AB and CC have an incredibly bright future.

@@aliciamcdonald7105 Yeah, Sides is bad but she's getting better slowly but surely. If they make the playoffs, the perception of her will improve even more. Afterall, she's only a 2nd yr coach. As far as the for/against/jealousy of CC thing this may dissuade some players but not those who care more about scoring points, making money, winning games, and playing in front of huge crowds. AB has proven that CC can be a likable teammate both on and off the court. There are other players who wouldn't mind being a part of this.

As long as Sides and Dunn are in the hiring decision making the whole organization will continue to suffer. Dunn is old school “be patient with the process “ while Sides just does not have good decisions making skills on the floor and can’t anticipate what would work best moving forward. Who really needs to go is Wheeler and Berger and gain a good guard and power center. Spend some money but it will be worth it.
My real fear is that Sides has 2 years remaining on her contract at $500k/yr. With they make a good decision and pay her off??? I doubt it!!! Her being there the next few years means that Caitlin has to weave through all the bullsh** and sabotage. Amazingly she has beaten odds and shined despite this. No telling what a great coach could do in this team. So much potential but now hiring good players with a crappy coach will yield the same results. Barely above 500 at best unless someone is at the helm to make important game decisions and not lose by a few because of wrong decisions.

I think she at age 80 is asleep at the wheel and commented on giving the young coach some time to develop…a joke…she hired her with a losing record! What I hope for all the W players is that more planning goes into the scheduling. With more teams to be added, it may help to stretch the season out to give players more rest between games. Injuries are all over the place. THEY NEED TO BE FAIR WILL EACH TEAM AND NOT DO WHAT THEY DID TO THE FEVER THIS YEAR IN SCHEDULING. BURNT THEM TO A CRISP AT ONE TIME.
According to Fever statics, Wheeler has the second most assists to Clark when playing at same time on the team, so for you to say Wheeler never passes Clark the ball is a factual lie, the least assists to Clark is Mitchell by the way.

Well I think before Djonai Carrington even becomes an option, you need to ask yourself first and foremost if you're the Fever, do you keep Christy Sides? NaLyssa Smith has liked tweets before slandering the coach, and any tweets that call for Sides to be fired. That suggests to me that NaLyssa Smith may be let go by the Fever after this season in the expansion draft, or she'll just leave the first opportunity she gets. I'm sure Carrington is aware of this, and that could be another reason why Carrington won't sign because she knows her girlfriend likely won't be there long term.
I think if you keep Sides, then you need to get rid of Smith. No ifs, ends or buts about it. You can't keep a player on the team that doesn't respect the coach if your'e going to ride or die by Sides if the you're the Fever. And if you do get rid of her, then you can kiss any chance of Carrington coming goodbye. But if you do decide to move on from Sides, and you hire a coach that Smith likes, then maybe you have a shot. Not much because of the reasons you stated, but still.

News flash. On a team sport, you don't need every member of the team to like each other. When the Bulls were winning titles in the 90's, majority of the team HATED Michael Jordan personally, but they still followed him because he helped them win championships. Carrington may not like Caitlin personally, but if she signs with Indiana, then she's not going to sabotage the team, and possibly ruin her own career in the process. She may be rude, but she's not stupid. I think if she signs there willingly, then she'll behave herself as long as the team is winning, and Caitlin and her get along on a professional level at the very least. At the end of the day, all that matters is if you and your teammates can get along on a professional level. You don't need to be buddy buddy with your teammates to want to go out and have a few beers with them after games.

I base that on a couple of things. One is that she skipped practice in order to get drunk with Carrington, according to a social media post featuring the two of them. Another is the Suns/Fever game where NaLyssa helped Carrington to her feet and then the two later laughed on social media about NaLyssa "groping" her.

All of this hypothetical talk about players doesn't mean anything if the coaching situation stays the same. Why don't you do a breakdown of the best available coaches?
Well first of all, are the Fever even willing to move on from Sides? The GM has literally stated she feels coaches get better over time, as they learn on the job, and she feels coaches need time to develop. Sides has only been there for two seasons if you count this one, so I doubt they fire her unless the owner fires the GM too. However, that's debatable because the owner has even admitted he uses the team as a tax write off, so he may not care.

I honestly think everyone in that fever organization believed Caitlin would not only struggle to the point that they didn't think she'd be that good this season, but they probably expected her popularity to die down significantly by this point. It hasn't. Her jerseys and Wilson basketballs keep selling out. If I'm Nike, I'm making a logo specifically for her because you know her shoes will sell out immediately upon arrival at the rate she's going.
I'm hoping all this financial success will make the owner think twice to have a sit down meeting with the gm and talk about the future of the team because he's sitting on a gold mine right now. He can't afford to waste it.

Bluder did at Iowa at times. If you have a pass first PG it's fine at times. Someone who can both play off the ball and on the ball like a Kate Martin is what's needed. Not with a ball dominant, PnR PG like Wheeler

Someone who'll find CC when she's off the ball and also be a positive for the team when she's on the ball. There's not many players in the WNBA that can be effective at that and it's not like Sabrina, Jackie Young or Kate Martin are available
