Yasiel Puig is the Most Misunderstood Player in Baseball | La Vida De Puig

  • As a new player in the league, Puig brought energy, excitement, and fun to a game that desperately needed it, but his personality was scorned and he was labeled as a "problem player". After a positive COVID test derailed his signing with the Braves and prospect of playing during the 2020 season, Puig took the year to work hard and get back on the diamond, better than ever. This off-season we follow the all-star and show the real Yasiel Puig, not the image teams and media show. This is La Vida De Puig.

I'm actually a firm believer that Puig being Puig when he did helped create this "Let the kids play" era. If Puig wasn't there when he was, did all the things he did in the way he did them and refused to change, I don't think we'd have the same type of mindset from players like Tatis, Soto and Acuna, managers would have stopped that kind of playstyle at the door. Just like they attempted to do with Puig who refused to listen.

His spirit , his bravery , and his presentness of mind and application to life. He's not on autopilot and he appreciates and remembers every gesture made towards him and others .He 's looking for the worth in things and 0 to 60s -a phenominal gift to a setting as a hero's persistant loyalty to building life. That's an interesting narrative, that Puig "couldn't be himself" and that he's "misunderstood" because he has so much energy and passion. What about his immaturity? Here's a list of things that Puig did as a Dodger when he was "just being himself", just off the top of my head: he was banging the daughter of a minor league coach, he habitually showed up late, he tore up defensive positioning cards in the dugout because he didn't listen to his coaches, he frequently showed up to spring training overweight and out of shape, he didn't take stretching (injury prevention) seriously, which led to many leg/core injuries and DL stints, a Dodger veteran said trading him would be addition by subtraction because he was such a clubhouse cancer. He was a prodigious, phenomenal talent that could've made a LOT of money if he listened to the advice of those in charge of helping him get better. But, his immaturity and pride got in the way. If he wants more than 1-2 year contract, he'll need to get rid of that beer belly.

Hey, I'd love to watch Puig in 81 home games. Dude is just pure entertainment wrapped up in a 240 pound Cuban Missle bow. But let's be real. If dude has had a problem with "all the teams," it's not that the Dodgers were prudes or that those who were critical of the man are racist. It's because he can't stop messing up. Own it. Say you're working on yourself. Whatever you do, don't let a fledgling social media company put out the message that you're digging in your heels, resistent to change, resistent to owning up to your past inabilities to fit into a team. This vid ain't helping you, Puig. It is doing exactly nothing to dispell your undisciplined reputation. Baseball organizational peeps see that as selfishness, and that perception is a crap way to demonstrate that you're ready for a second chance.

Puig’s problems go beyond just being “passionate”. The dude allegedly tore up positioning cards in front of coaches and would not listen to the coaches while at the Dodgers. There’s being passionate and then there is uncoachable arrogance and I think Puig has firmly rooted himself on the arrogant side. Parts of Puig are misunderstood and parts are VERY understood and worrisome.

Most of his teammates would whole heatedly disagree with you. He was adored by fans and was an exciting demonstrative player that the old guard of baseball detested. Their prejudicial, judgemental treatment was indicative of the good ole boys being pissed that a non white player was not "playing the game the right way" ie; the white way. Thankfully he paved the way for Tim Anderson, Soto, Perez, Lindor and many other talented, demonstrative players to bring joy, passion and excitement to the game. The sport is better for it and fans love it.

@@jusliving7977 If you think that having positioning cards is some sort of "white" thing and that minority players can't listen to their coaches then you got some problem. Nothing I said has anything to do with showboating which he wrongfully and at times racially did get criticized for. That's stupid and wrong for people to do. All my criticism was about his interactions with coaches where he is obviously in the wrong. If your response to someone ripping up coaching instructions is to talk about how minorities are fighting against white stereotypes then that's pretty fucking racist. People play sports all over the globe. They all get coaching instructions. Also don't pretend his interactions with teammates were all great. Definitely friction there. Lots of rumors, but the Greinke incident is evidence #1. All of Puig's sexual assault stuff coming out only bolsters my point that interpersonally this is probably not a good guy, even if he did make baseball more fun.

You can not criticize a player, for charging at a pitcher for intentionally throwing at him with the intention of inflicting pain o breaking a bone on his buddy, just to silencing his offensive. That should be Against MLB's own rules against violence.
Demonizing a player, for this reason, needs to be contested
In every incident, and not simply be encouraging by calling it, a disciplinary players problem, as it was done to Yasiel Puig.
All players should have de right to be protected, from these types of ongoing, instigated, attacks, having to do with old baseball practices, and not players' behavioral problems.
A curveball hitting a player may be excusable, but not a 90 mph fastball trowed at his ribs case or head, with the intention of doing damage, those can kill or badly harm a player, we all know, and this problem calls for immediate correction and no silence from baseball unions and leagues.
