I gave Dale Jarrett a penny when he won the million at Talladega. I always wished he would have said something about it on tv lol. He did send me an autograph pic that said thanks for the million dollar penny. That was cool
Cool story.
I could listen to Dale Jarrett all day....great guy!
@@joevald3 lol
I agree. As his Dad,Ned.
Jim R Yep! Great guy! RACE THE TRUCK DALE! Lol
My favorite driver loved that red white and blue 88 car
He was my favorite driver. Been No one since. Just root for a Ford.
I love these interviews. Its pure, real, old-school nascar, just drivers and cars. No media, marketing and show BS. Congrats JR for making this.
I loved it when Ned was in the booth announcing that DJ won the Daytona 500...!! Awesome 🏁👍🏼
I will never forget DJ's Daytona 500 win as long as I live even though I was only ten years old. I was a Dale Earnhardt fan. My brother was at Dale Jarrett fan. On the last lap him and I were both yelling at the TV cheering our drivers on. And then there was Ned Jarrett's commentary. That commentary made that race stick forever in my mind. As I recall Ned Jarrett said that he apologized to Earnhardt after the race for his commentary. Good times from when racing was racing. 😎
He was a great champion
I must have been 15 or 16 and your right about Ned's commentary sticking with you. I wasn't a Jarrett fan or an Earnhardt fan but for some reason I think that race made me a NASCAR fan! I later became a Jarrett fan and learned to respect Earnhardt.
CBS knew what they were doing they had already told Ken Squire before the last lap to let Ned do his thing
I remember as a 9 year old kid hearing Ned say "Cmon Dale!" Not realizing he was Dale's dad, I thought he was cheering for Sr because he hadn't won the 500. 😂
Sr told Ned: “Don’t worry about it. I’m a dad too.”
Dale Jarrett was one of my favorite drivers, you could just tell he was a good dude
Part of me wished that Dale would have stayed with Gibbs, but I like him in a ford as well.
You want the definition of class, just look to Ned and Dale Jarrett
I met Ned at the 2001 bud shootout he passed us on a golf cart heading to his motorcoach outside of a fenced area so I waited for him to come out and I'll never forget my experience with him I was 12 at the time and he came out and I said Mr Jarrett can I shake your hand and he couldnt wait to come shake my hand and came to talk to me and my friend he talked with us for 10 minutes about everything except racing and before he left he said hang on a min he went inside and signed pictures of himself for us. By far the nicest and most genuine person I've ever met
@@evanwallace4510 great story
Great! KEEP BRINGING IN THE 80S AND 90S DRIVERS!
Yes! I remember that race! Ole Swervin' Ervin! I was so mad! Lol!
I was a huge Davey Allison fan! My heart broke when he died. I had liked Dale Jarrett & his Daddy. So I was 28 & 88 all the way!! God bless y'all! 🏁👍🇺🇸
DJ is such a humble guy and, being a Ford person, I appreciated all of his years at Robert Yates Racing.
He was a beast with RYR
So humble just like Ned. Most drivers and that era were humble…….even Dale Sr was despite his media driven persona to the contrary
The more stories we hear from drivers & owners themselves about Dale Sr., the more one can be convinced that Dale Sr. really was the best driver of that entire era, hands down. To hear Dale Jarrett say: "Dale only took 2 tires, and his car was handling SO bad, he was literally steering the wheel to the right in the turns". ( he continues: ) "No one else could've even finished the race in that car, they would've wrecked, the way that car was handling so poorly, yet Dale was still leading the race"........end quote. Story after story like this. How much more proof does anyone need. Now imagine Earnhardt's car handling & running as good as the better cars in the field, and it's easy to see why he won 7 championships. The sad part is: Earnhardt & Childress had everything SO worked out before the beginning of the 2001 season, that both were absolutely convinced that they were going to win an 8th championship that year........but of course terrible fate put a stop to the "trifecta" that Dale was shooting for: 1st and 2nd place for his own 2 cars, and then him coming in 3rd. THAT is a dream come true. You can bet the farm Dale Sr. was one HAPPY & CONTENT man just before that fateful crash took his life.
I still imagine what it would’ve been like if Dale Sr. did win an 8th Championship in 2001 or in later years if that was the case the sports world would be shocked...
There’s so many What If scenarios in this sport that I always wonder about...
If Sr. didn’t pass the sport would be in a very different way that none of us could’ve ever imagine... we would’ve seen something odd or anything peculiar going to 2001 and hopefully beyond and even till today... who knows what the alternate timeline would’ve been... it’s all just imagination and theories up to this point in time and it still is...
Growing up DJ was one of my faves with ups. Never saw how good he was in the late 80s and 90s
The world needs more people like Dale Jarrett and you two also.and I do mean this.good people
Dale Jarrett and Todd Parrott with the #88 Quality care Ford , that was a Great team and a car you knew you'd have to beat every race.
In 1996, that 88 team was as new as the #18 car Dale Jarrett entered in 1992.
I think I was 9 years old when DJ started out in the 88 car. NASCAR was such a HUGE part of my childhood... and DJ was MY driver! I had everything from hats and t-shirts to cereal boxes with DJ on them. I still have some of that stuff. Not very often to you come across people like DJ that have such overwhelming confidence on the inside but you would never know by just talking to them....so humble!
That Quality Care “Blue Bullet” was absolutely one of the most beautiful paint schemes ever! When they had that thing dialed in, they were a threat every race.
@@badbooking3221 it would have been amazing if DJ had stayed with Joe Gibbs racing.
Gotta love the Dale and Dale Show
Dale Jarrett is class act!
When Dale Jarrett had UPS sponsorship he was here in Louisville Kentucky to meet with the corporate bigwigs but before their meeting he had arranged to make a quick trip to visit a child who had a terminal illness as part of the “Make a Wish” program. When his visit was scheduled to end his handlers told him to say his goodbyes... and he told them no. He was staying here. He pretty much said to give the corporate folks his regrets but I’m sure they’ll understand. I think that they did understand, if memory serves. Next-level kindness, right there. I had been a fan but this made me a huge fan.
Dale Jarrett needs to come back to the show. This man is underrated and a quiet badass
Dodge?
@@j.d.b.pennamesonofharraant3367 Dale Jarrett never drove a Dodge in NASCAR Cup series. BTW, Stellantis has no interest in bringing Dodge back to NASCAR.

One of the classiest people to ever grace the Nascar landscape, like Father like Son!
Ned-Dale-Glen Jarrett, all Hall of Famers too me ✝️
Always a big fan of Dale Jarrett.
A lot of drivers owe their careers to the Woods. NASCAR'S finest team imo
I miss watching Dale Jarrett race very classy Guy
This was excellent!!!! PLEASE bring on MARK MARTIN!!!!!!
Yes, that needs to happen!!
This show by Jr. for me is the modern version of Hee Haw. Down home fun. This the very best stuff on CZcams by far. Great job Dale Jr.
I even stepped away from Dale Sr for a minute when DJ went to RYR, I told all the guys at work before his best year, watch this guy, he's really good!!! They thought I had lost my mind, but I was right, as usual, lol
Love you Dale Jr. RIP Dale Sr.
My all time favorite racer, always a clean driver and as professional as you could get. Miss seeing you out there Dale!!!!
So much respect for DJ. I just can't imagine him not being liked.
Ned Jarrett pulling Fireball from his car still gets me that is one helluva story
Dale Jr's t-shirt... I've only been to one NASCAR race. Sadly, it was the 1991 race at Watkins Glen New York where JD McDuffie died in a crash. Very sad day.
Great interview, I was at that race that year, first 500, I was hooked, went to at DEI for you dad in 99, you were driving Busch car , Ron was in the truck, ended up HMS in 2002, painted aloft of your race, I am proud to worked with you and your dad, keep up the great work you do now!
I was probably 6 or 7 years old (around '97) when DJ became my sports hero and got into racing myself. Looking back through the years at his career, reputation and the character he possesses, I couldn't have made a better choice. I look up to him even more now. My first cup race I ever went to was with my Dad at the Pontiac Excitement 400 at Richmond, and sure enough I watched my guy, Dale Jarrett take the checkered flag. I was wearing my Quality Care race jacket that I hang in my closet to this day. Thanks for the great memories DJ!
I love this show. I haven’t been this engaged in Cup racing since your dad passed. It brings back so many memories & moments. I love it.
Man these shows are so damn good !
Dale Jarrett is awesome. Great interview 👍 with him. I am loving it.
The first race I ever saw in person was the 1999 Brickyard 400. What an absolute legend.
The best NASCAR talk on you tube, but Coffee with Kyle is very close!
Dale is a real great guy we need more of dales great driver and great person
I love DJ. Great ambassador for the sport.
The beginning of Joe Gibbs racing and Dale Jarret driving were some exciting race's. I'm so glad to know that it exhilarated Dale's career.
It's funny how I didn't like DJ in his driving years but now I absolutely love hearing him in interviews and calling races.
I wish they would invite Dale back and ask him about 1997. People remember how dominate Gordon was in the mid to late 90's. What most don't remember is Jarret lost the 97 championship by 14 points. FOURTEEN POINTS. He was so close. i'd love to hear more about that experience.
I love hearing all these podcasts. Dale Jarrett was a great choice for a guest. .He was awesome in NASCAR. I really wish he had more success in his driving career.
I met Dale Jarrett at a Signing Event..I smiled and Laughed..I said you got a heck of a mechanical team..
Yes I do...I told him Enjoy Columbus .1st Class Guy..
DJ is a class act for sure.
Dale Jarrett was so cool in the mid 90s
Dale Jarrett is one of the nicest guys to ever drive in NASCAR!!
When King Richard was finishing up, I needed a new driver to cheer for. Dale beating Dale Sr with his dad in the box cheering for him settled who that would be.
I still have a poster DJ signed for me when we was at the local fair here in Sarasota, Florida many many years ago
Dale Jarrett is looking more like his father as the years go on.
I loved that old interstate batteries / food lion car
I have a picture of Dale and Ernie standing in front of the 28 together, great picture, folks...
NASCAR legend dale jarett
Dale Jarrrett going over to JGR back in 92 was the best move of his career! Granted he did win a few races with the Wood Brothers but clearly they were no longer a top tier organization by the late 80's, they were still competitive but never really championship caliper. DJ's time at JGR allowed him to grow as a driver which led him to sign with Robert Yates racing, win a bunch of races and his 99 Cup Championship.
Well said. At one point, during his time with Gibbs, Dale was considering bringing his busch series team up to the winston cup series. Good thing Robert Yates was able to bring him in to drive the #28, leading him to the #88.
@@iankhan4614 Thank You!
@@KK-ex5zu although he achieved a lot with Robert Yates, you wonder what his record would have been if he stayed with Joe Gibbs.
@@iankhan4614 Good point. Although it took JG 8 years to get his first Cup championship with Bobby Labonte in 2000. Dale Jarrett got his Cup Championship in 99. Could they have gotten their first championships sooner together? That the world will never know.............
@@KK-ex5zu and the fact that the organization missed the race at North Wilkesboro, it also made it easier for both Gibbs and Dale to part ways. Bobby Labonte driving for Joe elevated his career.
That JD mcduffie shirt is toughhhh

So many legends “named dropped” wow 😮 great story!
When I got married in the early 90s we went to Myrtle Beach. Dale jr. was racing at Myrtle Beach Speedway that weekend.
Jarrett was my favorite for many years I was very fortunate to have met him ...talk with him and get his autograph on 3 occasions ...Pomona Daytona and Arizona...yes that rhymes in Pomona my brother and I are were making him laugh comparing scars on our faces I think all mid western men think all guys from California are gay but then Dale realized we were brothers UT when i got to Arizona he recognized me and said you were with your brother that day and my dad asked me what the he'll did you say to him...lol in Daytona that was really cool because dad spent 20 min talking with Ned because they both raced in the 60's both had convertables well this was our first Daytona 500 and Dale won his 3 that weekend a real Cinderella experience for me seeing my favorite driver win in person when I look backive never met anybody who has told me they have spoken to heir favorite athlete on 3 occasions I feel very fortunate to have had this experience ...thanks Dale thanks Ned thank you Nascar for making these and so many other experiences possible for us and many others....Terry
I know this is an older interview. I loved every second of it! No offense. At the time I was a big NASCAR fan this was my driver! This guy has so much class and to me he was a great champion. You could not tell me nothing. I got the red, white, and blue jacket for Christmas. Times were good then and just didn’t know it! Now at 60 still got my jacket!
Man I love these videos. Seeing all these cool moments from when I grew up, all the back stories that were never on tv. It's like shooting the bull with the boys at a campfire. Amazing stuff. Try and get Mark Martin on here
I used to call Dale Jarrett "scrappy Jarrett" way back in the day. He proved me I was wrong.
Love hearing these stories and wish to hopefully see Ricky Rudd on one of these days.
This was another great podcast. I cant wait to hear who is on next week
It's the Dale and Dale show!
I tell you what, Dale Jarrett can do some talking! LoL
Well his dad and brother was commentators
@@slabbusterrtr7690 As well as DJ himself, but Dale is best at just straight conversational talk as opposed to analysis like his brother and his father.
Dale Jarrett would always be my favorite!
Red white and blue 88 car loved it
Moving from Yates to MWR wasn't a good call. But I guess it doesn't matter. You are a legend
He said in this bit that he was all about taking chances in his career. He took a chance by going with Gibbs and it paid off. He took a chance going from Gibbs to Yates and it paid off. He took another chance with the new MWR team and it didn't do so well. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. In defense of his career, during THAT time there were a lot (and probably more than any other period in NASCAR's top series) of young talented drivers making it tothat top level of the sport.
@@michaelmarburger1003 yeah well he should've said going from Yates to waltrip was stupid so I didn't have to lol. Also I said he's a legend so I wasn't totally hating just keeping it real yo. Side note who's your current driver?
@@ghostfarmer358 Hard to say who my favorite driver currently is. A lot of drivers I really liked have retired such as Dale Jr., Gordon, Stewart, and Kenseth. I have admired the driving styles of Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski, but neither one is having stellar years in 2019. I am not a fan of his but like the driving style of Kyle Busch.
@@michaelmarburger1003 I was going to go with Logano after Jr retired but he blocked him out of a chance of a last win at Talladega so I just pull for anyone but Kyle Busch
@@ghostfarmer358 Yeah MWR didn’t work out, but Yates ran pretty poor in 07-08 as well. DJ could’ve left RYR back in 04 or 05 for say RCR or Evernham, but by 07 he wasn’t in demand enough to find a ride any better than RYR or MWR.
Chevy fan, but Jarrett was so good with that team and car.
Good guy, good family for NASCAR
Yeah its nice to hear that about Joe Gibbs I only know of him from football, foosball, and I guess like a lot of people wait and see and see we do...
