    thank you for this video! This gave me a much needed perspective that wasn't marketing towards a specific product. Learning more about your story and wisdom has given me ideas on how to move forward. Your story was able to help me get some clarity among the market noise, which can be very overwhelming. I Appreciate your nuanced explanations and clarifications.
    I myself have only my film camera (Olympus Pen FT) and a 15+ year old DSLR (Canon Rebel XSI). Right now I'm trying to start this YT channel and looking into a video camera since my phone's video is below par (iphone 11). Also, I'm hoping to shoot a short film with my friends.
    All that to say that you've helped a lot. Many Blessings!

      Oh, thank you for your kind words! For CZcams, Canon has a really good compact budget camera - the M50 Mark II. With 50 mm 1.4, you can film cinematic videos, and with 15-45 mm 3.5-6.3, vlogging and film yourself. Rebel XSI was a great camera, but not sure it's good for video now:)
      You can combine a new compact video camera (even used) with photos from your film camera and have such a nice, cosy combination for CZcams:)

      @@elenabazu hahaha yeah, the rebel is very much outdated for modern standards. Also yeah, film photography is hopefully going to be a decent part of my channel. I still have a few videos in the works, but the video limitation is really holding me back.
      From your experience, what do you think about the M50 mark II for shooting in 4K? honestly it looks like the PERFECT camera, but I'm somewhat concerned because I've read things about it's 4K video capabilities. Is 4K something I should even be worrying about?

      @elenabazu  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@CreativeMoreno yes, Canon M50ii is what I usually recommend as well:) It has a full 4K, but if you turn on digital stabilisation -- the frame will be cropped, depending on how massive digital stabilisation you turn on.
      So with filming on a tripod, you can have a full 4K. But with any compensation, it'll be cropped physically. But all cameras do that, except Lumix, about which I talked in this video:)
      And also, you don't need 4K for CZcams, honestly! All my videos are in Full HD size, and even on TV the picture is fine.

    When I begun digital photography, I used a Konica Minolta, after that camera I bought a Nikon D70s, and my first ff was a Nikon D800E and I have used a lot of cameras, right now I have the Canon R10, not the best but I get some great results, at the end is you that need to enjoy the moment with your camera and think more about the photographic result instead of think a lot about the brand or the model, good video.

    Thanks for the video, good to know about your experience. So do you continue to use Lumix (btw which one?) for videos and shoot photos R8?
    Which Canon do you think would be the best ro shooting cinematic vlogs? I really want to upgrade but as long as i already have Canon lenses and only have experience of shooting with Canon, I'd prefer this brand camera for videos (if available and doesn't cost a stupid amount of money :)

    • @elenabazu
      @elenabazu  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks! I think for your type of content, Lumix S5ii suite as well, if you're ready to spend some time exploring video settings, S-Log, LUT editing, and manual focus.
      I know a lot of bloggers who shoot cinematic use Sony A7 and higher, but this camera is more complicated and doesn't have stabilisation. Even expensive 🙈
      You can try to improve your shooting with RP -- turn off Digital IS, film from a tripod only to have a full frame without cropping, try to use ND filter to have a more balanced picture and experiment with LUTs on 20% opacity.
      Try to watch all videos on CZcams about RP settings for video, and I believe you can improve your picture even without spending money on the new camera! At the same time, watch about Lumix; maybe you'll find something that you missed in your camera now.
      But again, on your level of filming, the camera doesn't play a significant role, but the skill, editing, and storytelling do.
      Also, anamorphic lenses help to achieve a cinematic look, but it's already pro-pro level that I feel is too much for lifestyle CZcams 😅

      @elenabazu @elenabazu thank you so much for your advice! But what do you mean by filming from.tripod only to get rid of cropping, how is it connected? Btw is there a way to use Canon lenses on Lumix with an adapter?

    • @elenabazu
      @elenabazu  Před 5 měsíci +1

      With filming on tripod you can turn off the digital stabilisation and use the full frame that camera can give, because with IS on the frame is actually cropped to compensate the stabilisation. And I think yes, you can use Lumix lenses with Canon, but better to take a look for Sigma lenses, they are for a good price with an excellent colour

    R8 is a great camera but Canon is stubborn not to allow others to make lenses. Having a few cheap lenses could change the game. But Canon did not realise it after 5 years of the R system. RF-s is also struggling a lot compared to Nikon and obviously Sony.

    • @elenabazu
      @elenabazu  Před 5 měsíci

      True! But you can use cheap Sigma lenses with an adapter for R and EF. Also, Canon lenses (especially for R) are reasonably priced and high-quality; I have three, and they are even better than for EF (obviously, but still).

    • @ghalibsworld
      @ghalibsworld Před 5 měsíci

      @@elenabazu actually I am using an R10 with older Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 and RF 24mm F1.8. RF 24mm F1.8 is a really good lens whatever the reviewers says. It is awesome but pricey compared to an APS-C user. But having IS is a deal breaker. However the old Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 is good but I miss your eyes at a faster shutter speed. The RF-s system needs an overall zoom lens like the EFs 17-50mm F2.8. Also the kit lens of both full frame and APS-c is really worse than other companies. The Panasonic 20-60mm is a good kit lens better than Sony or Nikon as it has IS. The Nikon 24-70mm kit lens has no image stabilization.

    • @elenabazu
      @elenabazu  Před 5 měsíci

      I agree; I think Canon will release 24-70 mm or around for RF. Also, Panasonic 20-60 is the best for video as well! Actually, this video was filmed with this lens (as in all my previous videos).
      And Canon 100-400 mm is great; with a price tag of $600, you can have a lightweight wildlife photography lens with great stabilisation. I honestly love all range of new R lenses, so good quality.

      @ghalibsworld Před 5 měsíci

      @@elenabazu I think for APS-c they are ignoring everyone or their customers. Canon's full frame kit lens is 24-105 F4-7.1 which is not as good as the 20-60mm Panasonic lens as Panasonic offers F3.5-5.6

    Well, I'm working with Canon EOS M50 for 3 years and I really love it! I'm lifestyle and food photographer, so this camera is ideal: really lightweight and user-frendly. But I'm currently thinking about new camera, because M50 is not full frame camera and it feels like Canon isn't reaaly going to develop their lens line (for EOS M they gave a different one, not the same as for classic camera row)
    So I started to think about R8! It's interesting to have this full frame experience :) Elena, how do you feel, is it a good choice for my kind of work?

    Hi Elena, I rarely leave comments on videos and suddenly felt bad when you said you would appreciate more feedback - great videos and it's so soothing!
    I'm personally a SONY shooter with a very simple reason - my friend used it and she sold the lenses to me and I just bought a body on top of it (because hers was very old). I only had a Fuji camera back then and found it more of a personal camera instead of a professional one, didn't have anyone using Canon around me so couldn't compare. I'm a camera enthusiast and own Fuji, Ricoh and some film cameras but somehow never had a chance to meet Canon :/
    I guess it happens to a lot of us, especially with Canon photographers because Canon goes way back. More occasions for a hand-me-down from family members, etc. I love Canon cameras, the ergonomics and the results photographers share, definitely a unique distinctive color scheme and mood to it, different from Sony ones. But because I"m committed to the Sony system now, I won't be able to make a change unless I have so much money and wanna have both 😂
    However, I do have a younger brother-in-law who wants to start photography. He's 15. I gave my advice regarding different brands and their strengths, but wanted a second opinion from a Canon shooter. If you had to start all over again in 2024, without having had any previous DSLRs or lenses from Canon and no knowledge regarding photography, would you recommend someone to go for Canon series? in the long shot in case he wants to upgrade, RF lenses are quite expensive and not many third party options. FYI - My personal choice was to go for Fuji but only because I don't really know Canon universe.

    • @elenabazu
      @elenabazu  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Oh, thank you, you're so kind! I think it's just types of photographers - one side goes with Canon and another with Fuji, film, + Sony for video. I feel like 'new' photographers barely use Canon, only maybe for weddings and portraits, but definitely not for street or lifestyle photography:)
      To be honest, I'd love to be a Fuji person, but just the camera choosen me years ago:)
      In 2024, and especially as 15, I'd go with Fuji! It's fun, simple, has a lovely colour, has a great community and has plenty of options for settings you can find on CZcams. It's for daily/street photos. Or a new Ricoh! Excellent travel daily camera.
      But if I'd like to become a professional photographer, to photograph people, weddings, portraits, sports or wildlife - I'd go with Canon. It can be used RP or a new one R8. With only one 50 mm lens 1.8, you can take money for simple shootings and have a professional camera for a budget.
      But again, it's nice to try both! Have it for a week, feel it, try different settings and profiles, check it on a laptop, edit and try to feel which camera helps bring your vision to life.
      It's interesting how one simple decision in the age of 15 can share all your life ahead:)

    Hi Elena, congrats on the new camera. I guess i had the same problem as you, i initially had Canon 750D (8 years old) and then i upgraded to ZV-E10 and 20mm f2.8 (for portability and better sensor on paper). I gave this setup a lot of time (4-5 months), however i was just never satisfied with the image that came out of sony. Canon 750D and my favorite lens 24mm f2.8 always produced much better results and felt much more fun to use.

      Fuji XS10 дуже гарна камера! Ви пробували інші, більш якісні об'єктиви? Десь 1.8 і вище (1.4, 1.2). Бо я знаю багатьох на Ютубі хто на неї знімає дуже гарно, і навіть працює з клієнтами.
      Але так, тут питання вподобань. Ріко гарна камера на кожен день для себе, колір дає як Лейка, і якщо обробляти фото то теж гарно лягають.
      Якщо знімаєте весілля-портрети, то може Кенон чи Соні будуть краще, але якщо більш лайфстайл для клієнтів, то Фуджі дуже гарний колір для цього дає. Чисто інвестувати в дорожчу лінзу може? Як варіант взяти бу.
