He was the grim reaper of LW for a long time, but actual top tier competition (#6 and higher) really exposed the flaws in his game. Gaethje kind of laid out the keys to beating Tony. Clean striking, patience, and not allowing him to use cardio as a weapon.
This is El Cucuy. This is who he was as a fighter. One of the all time greats. Hope we get to see him break the will of paddy with his quintessential El Cucuy style
@@KingLouie42013yeah definitely.. after tony tore his acl.. he looked abit slower than usual.. but his movement is still there just not fast as he use to be..
@@horseaphoenix1016 yeah but u think his instincts for striking would have kicked back in after taking the first few big shots being he had done it for years bro just got cursed in 2020 it goes to show a negative mindset can rlly affect ur whole life
@@Shallowballow Yeah he did have a lot going on in his personal life too, but I think his instincts did kick in, he just got outclased by Justin who is a phenomenal fighter as well. At the top level where those guys were being just a bit off in your prepwork can have catastrophic consequences. Hopefully Tony will find a win before retiring healthily.
lets not forget tony about to lose to paddy for the 7th time he got finished in 4 of those losses and he still needs some more cte shame on people who want to see him sacrifice his brain to the mma gods lol
tony getting dropped then immediately getting back up and cutting pettis with a spinning elbow has been largely unrecognized
Man I was 15 when this fight happened and it’s already been 5 years. Tony is not the same guy 😢

There was a reason why Tony was rightfully called El Cucuy. Pettis looked he just crawled out of a car wreck. Incredible fight.
This was my true introduction to Tony at a friend's house. Instantly made me a fan and made me follow the sport closely thanks Tony.
Same, bro
Anthony pettis is super underrated. Dude always comes to fight.

You casuals I swear , Pettis was ex UFC champ . Father time is undefeated .
Yeah he’s overrated asl his best win is Raphael Dos Anjos
Tony beats Gaethje under different circumstances though
Hard to say, Ferguson took that fight after prepping a long time for Khabib. His camp for Justin would have been a lot different.
"not allowing him to use cardio as a weapon" thats much harder to do then say
Thank you again for all your work Larone
This was pretty overshadowed by the Main event but man, this fight was crazy.
what was the main event on this card?
@@ajj5016 Khabib and Mcnuggets.
@@ajj5016it was khabobo v mcfretor
It’s Tony time 😎😎
It’s time Tony 😔😔
Win or lose these man have balls of steel 🫡🫡
I never watched this fight before
Now i watched it on mute while listening to a very chill music
Work of art ❤

It's like Pettis was sprayed with bullets.
This Tony was the ufc terminator.Dude couldnt get finished and was just coming straight forward at you,he will be missed thats for sure.
Cucuy serà recordado por estas peleas... ya descansa campeon no tienes nada màs que demostrar
Last of prime Ferguson.😢
Nope it was the cerrone fight
@@KingLouie42013yeah definitely.. after tony tore his acl.. he looked abit slower than usual.. but his movement is still there just not fast as he use to be..
How do you score the second round?
It was like playing with these characters on a fuckin PlayStation
CSO forever. Forever.
Hurts to see this relentless demon Tony was become this shell now 😅😢
Is fight was a great lead up to Khabib vs Conor, just sucks it had to end because of his broken hand
the last time tony was truly tony. didnt even look that good in the cerrone fight and we all know what happened the fight after…
100% brother 👍
Miss prime Tony
larone is the best #goat
at 2:55 is one of the most out of no where 2 pieces ive ever seen that body hook followed by the cross
Agress Anthony pettis

This makes the way gatehje dominated Ferguson so odd it looks so crazy it’s like it wasn’t the same Tony
Yeah he was prepping for Khabib for the whole camp, Tony didn’t have to take that fight on short notice and probably shouldn’t have.
@@horseaphoenix1016 still weird bc Tony is a great boxer an got killed on the feet it was so weird like just got cursed or something
@@Shallowballow Yeah like I said he probably just worked on grappling exchanges and fighting off his back.

Tony breaks my heart. Should’ve retired 5 fights ago 😢
Dustin poirier vs pettis
How in the Lord's name was T-Ferg on the same card as Khabib and McGregor and didn't get included in the press conference?
Pettis could have won that fight, if he had just gotten off the ropes he would have been fine, last 1 and half minuts of round 2 killed him
