- I finally got my hands on this viral TikTok heatless hair curler because it's always sold out. I decided to test this method on damp and dry hair to see which side of my head will look better. The process to wrap the hair around was so easy and the rope was extremely comfortable on my head throughout the day. The results were exciting. If you've tried this heatless hair curling method, what was your result?

The idea that people are paying $48 is hilarious. I got mine on amazon for $10... can't wait to see how it turns out
Me too !
What material is it made of though? 100% silk material is more expensive, but so much better for the hair than cheap material.
How did it turn out?
How did your hair turn out ???
I got mine on shein for like 3.50$ 😭
I feel like the "dry" side gives the type of more relaxed curls/waves that are really trendy right now. That being said I would be more tempted to do the damp method since (for most people) gravity will make their curls deflate throughout the day. Guess it depends how long you're going out for/how soon your event is from when you're getting ready!
$48 is INSANE for some foam wrapped in fabric and two scrunchies. It looks good though but idk how on earth they can justify that price
@@katc2916 she literally said it on the video, chill
Agreed
@@katc2916 did you watch the video? 🤔
i bought mine for 5 bucks in shein it works just the same i loved it.
It's $5 - $10 on Amazon now actually !!
$48???? That’s nuts! Probably worth $5-$10!
they have knockoffs from China on Amazon for $10-12
And probably cost no more than 2 bucks to manufacture! The Shark tank people would go crazy for those kind of margins! 🤯
Right ...excuse meeeee
@@allisondogaer7274 Yea I’d definitely go that route!😉
@@kiaralebron2276 😂
I watched a dozen videos on how to do this and I could not figure it out until I saw yours. You explained it better than anyone else. My hair looks beautiful today!
I appreciate that you tested this out. It's hard for me to justify spending $48 for the foam curler. I bought men's tube socks and scrunchies at the Dollar Tree. I join the socks together with a scrunchie so they are at the top of my head. Then I wind my hair around the socks and fasten with scrunchie on each side. Works great. Costs $2 to $3, depending on how many scrunchies you use.
They got these on shein for $3
i have one off shein for only like 2 or 3 dollars lol
Or if you don't want to wait for shein shipping just go to five below it's like 4.50-5 dollars
What is men's tube socks?
I got mine same dang one in black 7.99 at Marshalls ❤
I ended up making a set for myself with an old genuine silk pillowcase. I cut a piece of the pillowcase to measure 4.5" (you can adjust this) x 36" before sewing it into a tube (close one end prior to stuffing, and the other after stuffing), and sewed a couple matching scrunchies. (Scrunchie patterns are easy to find.) One pillowcase had enough fabric for the whole thing. Just wanted to help anyone who sews and might like a set without having to spend a penny.
Can you share what you filled the tubes with to make them firm?
@@abeerazam4543 Sure! I used polyester fiberfill.
I did this too! got polyfil from michaels ! overall cost me under $20 with material left over and i made two different sizes!
@@areeza1 That's wonderful! It's so nice to save money! :)
@@MillsSkits also! For anyone that doesnt want to buy satin or have the skills to sew their own just buy the cheap version from shein or amazon etc. buy polyfil from your local craft store or walmart . Cut open the cheap rod you got that prob came with foam, pull it out and stuff it with your polyfil and hand sew the end closed or hot glue lol (will still end up significantly cheaper than these that are $50 +)
I walked into the Bargain Store and ended up grabbing one out of the clearance bin for $7. It's great quality (silk over foam) and works amazing. I recommend using products like Mousse before curling to give the curl memory, and a hair oil after in order to slick down little flyaways and give the hair more moisture and shine. Remember there are also different wrapping methods like doing a French-braid, taking from both front and back sections, and also using bigger or smaller sections for different size curls. Definitely a tool that can make multiple styles, and it's fun to play with!
Lovely! I use this similar dry method with something called the octocurl in satin and get gorgeous results! Love the look on you, too!
My favorite heat less method you’ve done!! Both sides look so pretty 🤩
I have some advice, so I bought mine off of Amazon for about $15 and I usually sleep with it in my hair. At first I was having trouble because I had so many dead ends so make sure you don’t have any dead ends when you use this and, if you sleep with it in your hair I suggest tying the ends of the curler ribbon under your chin so you aren’t uncomfortable when you lay on it
Milana! Your reviews are THE BEST on CZcams! Along with Vivian Tries - I only trust you two ladies when it comes to my purchasing decisions. YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST
Wow I am amazed at how pretty the curls turned out.
I do this with a long shear scarf & then I can wrap it all the way around my head & tie it- turns out beautiful each time & is like sleeping on a pillow. I get the best results with my hair about 90% dry 😍
Thank you for having this great Wet vrs Dry Hair Tutorial. I needed this thank you! You just made my life soo much simpler with your helpful video. I have the bendy rods now trying them out for the fist time and I sooo badly wish I had this exact one you have so I can try it out 😁
Love that you’re compared with dry and misted hair! So so helpful! I got mine from amazon and it’s a bit more thicker and more stiff than yours - I wonder if the results will be different. Thank you so much for this video!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just order one! Thank you for all your informative videos, and they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks... HA! This old gal is 67 and you have taught me a lot.
Why didn't you just use a bathrobe belt or anything else soft and long? This product is way overpriced!
Beautiful waves and curls without heat damage. I love it!
I am so impressed with how beautiful they turned out. Thank you for showing us.
This might be the first heatless curling method I might actually be able to trust! My gripe with these methods is that is usually just like “oop, braid it and let’s hope it turns out!” But this looks way more controllable !
Just use socks or a bath robe tie/belt. That's where this idea came from. It's just a way to make you buy another product when you most likely already have the materials lying around your home. Upcycling-kinder on the planet and your wallet ❤️
I love how you bob your head to make the curls bounce! So cute! I wish I had a street like that to walk! Beautiful!
for the lovely ladies that got the butterfly cut like me, put all your hair on the side with a scrunchie and clip that same side. then twist the other side. when you finish twisting that side, move the clip AND THEN start twisting the previously held up side. i couldn’t get mine to work until i tried that!!!
You and you’re hubby are too cool! God bless you and keep up the creative content!!
I am.shook at how good the dry side looks. I have waist length hair and am thinking about how i can make my own!
You do all your hairstyling so effortlessly. It's awesome.
Thank you for the video , I use your method how to curl hair
Love all your review videos! You are my fav you tuber!
I was waiting to see you do this review. I bought it a few months back and LOVE it!!
my mom got me one of these from amazon for christmas! just now getting around to using it, and i wanted to watch a video beforehand! this was super helpful!! thank you!!👏🏽💗
I also purchased this and I'm really happy with the results. I like that it's easy and none damaging to my hair.
czcams.com/video/0ZGMKaXjZwE/video.html
I just looked it up on Amazon and got it for 8$ but I also got silky hair scrunchies for 5$ plus alligator clips (about 10 in a package for 7$. The reason I have gotten all of these is that I just got hair extensions two days ago! I've been texting my hairstylist who is also a good friend, and she recommended watching this video!
This my first time watching your video and I loved it! Great job! I love how you were able to show both on dry and damp hair. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Both methods make pretty curls. Love it!
The reason this one costs more is it is pure silk . It makes the curls softer , less static and is gentler on the hair which causes less frizz. Like using a silk pillowcase . The cheaper versions are all polyester or satin man made cheap fibres .
If ya'll have a Miss A store (the dollar beauty store- HIGHLY RECCOMEND) near you, they have a slimmer version of the curler thing she uses for $1. They're flimsy on their own but I bout 3 and braided them together and it's about 1" around. I've used a robe tie for months since I've seen this and having the bendable part in the middle makes it so much easier!
Omg just last week I was looking at buying this! Wanted to wait for a good review first. Thanks😊
Both sides are beauteous just different looks. Some mouse may help curls last too ! Great idea to avoid heat damage on hair while growing it out. Excellent ! 😍
I love how each side turned out. That's awesome!
I would absolutely love to see you try 2 as well!! I clip my hair up daily as it is down to my butt and just takes sooooo long to make curls and rollers are not an option as I would never be able to sleep. I have thick hair and lots of it for a 50 yr old woman. Please test out 2 so I can see how beautiful that will be. Plus I need to know how to do that with 2..Thank you for all the testing you do. You have been a huge help to me!!♡♡
Wow. Both sides look beautiful!! Love!
I’ve had one of these things for two years, but have yet to try it because it always looked so confusing. Your video is so helpful and it makes so much more sense to me now! I can’t wait to try it out tonight.
This was probably the most helpful hair tutorial I’ve ever seen for a product. Your commentary was fantastic and made me think more about how to use on my hair. 11/10 thank you

These comments come from both herself & mother!
I'm glad you decided to do your hair both damp and dry. Both turned out nice! :)
Hair looks Fabulous, I already bought the little kit, can't wait to try it out now..Thank you 😁🤗
i watched a dozen vids, and only yours helped!!!!!!!!! :) thanks!
I used two soft socks overnight. The result was great, the next day I brushed my hair, added hair spray and I was ready in a couple of minute.
This turned out beautiful. I was going to cut my hair, now I want to try this ❤️
So glad you did a dry and damp example! 😀
Love the damp side curls!
I just use my bath robe tie and it works the same way. And gives you nice curls as well
You can use a curl setting solution that you mix into the water for lasting curls for multiple days
I need this!!! Thank you for doing this video 😍
Oh my God, I love your videos. I recently purchased one of these items and my hair is nearly shoulder length and I haven’t been able to get the hang of how to do it and each CZcams, video of being on shows a different way of doing it so I think I’m gonna go straight ahead now and try you away which seems so much easier.
The curling ribbon looks like the same material and size as Door Draft Stoppers
😂😂😂
That was my thought! LOL
BRB going to get a draft stopper at dollar tree
So excited to see a video on this. I just bought one from Walmart for $10!
Thank you! You just saved me a lot of $$ I purchased from Walmart.
Damp side is stunning !
I tried this now!! It work BEAUTIFULLY!!! Only thing is I never used the band she used I literally use a piece of material lmaoo but it worked!!! Love you
i will be finally going back to the office next week and was looking for easy over night heatless techniques for easy mornings. after watching this again, i already have been doing a twist method after i shower at night so i dont wake up with crazy hair. if you do this same twist method without the "ribbon" you get the same affect without having to sleep with a thing on your head. and i recommend some sort of zig zag part so it doesn't look as parted when you take it out in the morning. hope this helps someone!
I've seen people do two. To more curl in the back. I would love to see you attempt that as well!!
Yeh I'd like to see that too.
I would like to see that also. I kind of don't care for the way the back has to travel farther to get in the wrap and so the curl starts lower.
If you pull tge back over top like a braid it comes out way nicer.
I adore you! Thanks so much for all of your videos!
wow looks amazing esp for heatless!
I do the same with bathrobe belt. And result is the same 😄
This is on SHEIN for $4.50 & $5 (depending on the color/ print you want)
#TheBishoP this is also on aliexpress
Whats it called on shein? Cant find it

I bought it and I absolutely love it ! amazing curls and I definitely recommend buying it !
Bath robe tie works just as well and is “free”.
What else? For the bathrobeless?
@@anotherdroid493 You can use a long tube sock or just two longer socks. I've tried the tube sock and it works.
The thing with this curler is that it's round and smooth for people whose hair easily dents and frizzes. It also pulls out more easily which doesn't destroy the curls as much as unwinding from a fuzzy and/or flimsy surface.
There is a reason for this tool and no, belt and socks don't work "just as well."
@@anotherdroid493 I made my own using CZcams “DIY terry cloth bath robe (Hotel style Robe).” Using a terrycloth towel. I also used technique CZcams video “heatless curls tutorial by Shonagh Scott“
@@chelseajackman7730 I have used this technique for many years with no hair damage from CZcams video “heatless curls tutorial by Shonagh Scott“ using a homemade terry cloth robe tie. Everyone has their own method, but this works great for me.
You should try curling your hair around it the way Shonagh Scott does in her heatless curls tutorial! It gets more curls on the back.
Thanks for mentioning this. If I want more overall curl, I'll try Shonagh's method. Not sure which will look better on me.
VIDEO WAS SOOO HELPFUL! Thank you❤️
THANK YOU for this video. It has everything you are looking for. It was very useful, thanks.
Wow!!! your hair looks amazing. Personally I love the dry side better, reminds me of old Hollywood, like Veronica Lake hair. But to be honest $48 dollars for this rope is madness. I'mma use belt from my bathrobe ;)
I love how this turned out! HOWEVER, I don't love how low the curls get towards the back.. 🤔 Anyone have ideas on how create curls higher up on the back of the head?
I thought the same thing. It's like the curler left a crease in the hair and there is a definitive line of separation between the curls and the crown of her head.
I've heard it helps to guide it more toward the back of the head instead of down directly behind the ears 🤷 Still trying to practice it
@@irwizzle6 interesting, perhaps this would help!
I’ll take a separate section from the back and wrap it over the curler. It crisscrosses with the front section around the curler. So you should work with four sections total using this method.
@@NewtonsRottenApple using the same one curler, just utilizing four separate sections of hair type of deal?
I’m loving the dry side ❤️
I just bought this but haven't received it yet. Can't wait to see how it turns out in my hair. Thank you. Yours looked beautiful.
Your hair has grown so much, it looks beautiful. Greetings from Guatemala @milabu I love your videos.
48$? wow! I swirl my (dryed) hair around my fingers and then clip it with bobbypins on my head. I use a hairdryer for a few seconds to heat my hair. While I do my morning-routine or my makeup my hair cools down (the bobbypins still in the hair). Then I take off the pins and my hair is curled (normaly I don't have curled hair). Cheap, fast and stays the whole day/night. It takes a few seconds to swirl the the hair, a few seconds to heat up the hair and it takes a few minutes to cool down the hair. So I can have curls in less then 10 minutes.
But yes, you look great. I would do it with water or water-setting-mix.
Great video! Thanks for showing both. I’m late to this party. Just got mine for 12 bucks -
Glad I waited.
So pretty! Thanks! You explained very well
With the dressing gown tie, I let my hair get like 70-80% dry (otherwise it’ll never dry) and sleep on it, and it still is almost all fallen out by the end of the day... can’t imagine the dry method is even remotely useful for a full day wear...

@@sairasworldofficial4591 what the hell is this garbage ....
Does anyone know how to care for the flexi rid? I have an IVYU rod and I've used it several times. My question is though that after using it so many times the foam or whatever it's made out of, is deformed some from wrapping my hair around it tightly. Any suggestions on how to reshape it back to the way it was when I first got it? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks so much
No idea .... 😅
The results are amazing!
Damp side looks beautiful after its settled and been brushed xxx
I know this works but 48 dollars for the product when you know a belt works just fine... lol
Lol true but is made with silk so I can see why it is expensive
💯
And 48 dollars for a covered tube. Nope.
Your hair always looks so smooth and frizz-free after curling. 😍 Can you recommend a product to help with frizz? I thought I did an ok job with the ribbon curler I bought but there is definitely a lot of frizz and not nice, smooth curls. Womp womp.
i love the damp side!
Its on AliExpress for 10$
I made my own with Terry cloth towel. It only cost a couple dollars and it took me less than an hour. I would never pay $48.
Did you just take 1 towel and roll it? I want to try this, but I am with you on not spending that kind of money. Did the terry cloth cause any frizz?
@@mistystewart981 no frizz :) I cut a rectangle out and sewed it into a tube. I used the less fluffy side as the outside to avoid frizz and rubbing. I can sleep in it, wash it... I usually use Motions styling foam on dry hair. I did get the idea from Malibu's previous video, so thank you :)
That looks so nice and beautiful the way ur hair curls looks lovely
Yestarday i ordered a set. I am exited to try it!🥰
I love the heatless option. I feel like I curl my hair with heat for one day and my hair gets pissed with me for an entire month afterwards.
haha same here!!
I checked online and those people are making a killing at $48 per item! I can sew and could probably make one for, five dollars at the most? Maybe seven or eight, not counting gas to go to the fabric store. Ha ha. Seriously, though. I’ll probably do it. I have the one called “Flower Curl” that was only made in England. I like it but the curls are a little too tight for me. I think the bathrobe tie would be too tight too, which is why I haven’t tried it. I really like these heatless methods because my hair is growing out and I’m trying to keep it fairly healthy.
I don't know if it's the same "Flower Curl" product you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure she tried it already? [edit: I just checked, and she did indeed try it about 7 months ago, shipped from the UK - and she agreed with you, that the curls were too tight!]
You can get it for a bargain ( few euro’s in the Netherlands) alieexpress or wish! They might be just dropshipping it? 48 dollar is way too much!
Another commenter has mentioned, that she found the same thing on Amazon - including clip and ties - for less than $10!! Which is interesting - because believe you me, I would never even CONSIDER paying nearly $50 for this...!😳😳
Please make some and sell them, let us know!
i sew too and you just gave a wonderful idea though 😁 thx
Lol, I got mine for $12 at my local grocery store. The scrunchies I got were silk and so good quality. I highly recommend these.
I love your content . Thank you. So helpful
I bought the knock off version on Amazon for 9$, it’s bomb

48. way too expensive I would be using another method
any idea about the other method :/ please give me an ideaa
Love the dry side
Amazing result 😍
How did your hair hold up over night?
what on EARTH. 48$?!!? people are WILDIN out here. there's nO WAY this little thing is worth 48$. i feel like just finding a long foam roller and wrapping it in silk/satin would be just as good lmfao
