We are now 6 months of the way through the renovation, and unfortunately have just gone over our budget.

Thanks for watching! 🤗❤ Make sure you comment what you think of the paint colour, and if you think we should keep the current gold light ceiling fixture in the living room!💡
I love the paint good choice. Jo xx
14:20 the cupboard on the left looks different shade of white then on the right
Eagle eyes!! 🦅 It hasn’t had its second coat yet 🙈
Loving this build! 🎉 Just great to see the progress you're making, and how much you're enjoying the process! Well bloody done!! 😊❤
Thanks Kit, you’re too kind as always! 🥰
I absolutely love all of your choices for the living room, it all looks stunning, and the overall design will be timeless. I have been watching the build from the very beginning and my overall analysis is that you guys are awesome. What a beautiful home you are creating for yourself or whoever you are selling it to. Totally amazing. Looking forward to your next video.
Awh thank you so much Leslie, such a lovely comment! 🥰 We can’t wait to show you the rest of the house now (specifically the kitchen) as we hope that’ll really blow your socks off!! 🤞🏻😊
Loving the wee series! Livin room looks brill.
Thanks James, we’re glad you’re enjoying!! Appreciate the support 🙌🏻
Well done guys it looks spot on👌 sorry but I think change the light maybe a ceiling rose to match the coving whilst you're at it 👍
Thanks Steven, appreciate it! Great minds think alike- already on it with the ceiling rose to match the coving. Probably right with the light fixing, we’ll have a look for the best replacement! 😅🙌🏻
Loveee the lounge units! The room looks amazing 🤩 I vote get rid of the light fitting, it doesn't go with all the modern stuff
Awh thanks Emma, we think you might be right with the fitting- doesn't really go with the rest of the room does it? We can't wait to show you the kitchen!!! ☺
When using expanding foam dont touch it till it sets hard then trim it with a knife youll ge no damage to areas around it then, you wont spend ages cleaning and wouldnt have had to pain the doors,
Well done room looks amazing! You guys are doing such a great job!
I would recommend keeping the light fitting BUT take it down remove all fixtures and spray paint it black to match all other black accents.. I used plasti dip black spray on my own similar light fitting ... finish is amazing 👍
Thanks bud, really appreciate it! Do really like this idea as a compromise and the specific paint suggestion is actually really useful as we wouldn’t know where to start with metal paint tbh! Thanks mate 👍🏻
Awesome job guys, such a good finish.
I’m not a fan of that light fitting I’m afraid. I’d go with a black fitting or to save cost even a pendant with a natural wood lamp shade from B&Q or marketplace or something. It looks dated to me when contrasted again your awesome styling. 😅
Thanks bud- think you’re probably spot on! I think we only love it because it’s the one thing that’s been in that room the WHOLE time we’ve had the place (so it’s probably us being silly and sentimental!) 🤣 Cheers for the support!! 🙂🙌🏻
You need to cut the fireplace surround down a little - you can see the plastered fire place opening behind it (at the top)...alternatively, straighten that edge(or stif a thin strip of mdf) and paint it same colour as the surround
Definitely not 100% finished yet- we were working till late Friday to be able to get it to the stage it’s at in time for the video- plenty of snags like that to still be done. 👍🏻
Light fixture is great, keep it for now. Maybe later, when money is not so tight you can change it if you want to. 😊
Thanks Karen, we thought so too- but pretty sure about 90% of the comments are team ‘get rid’! May have already made the change by next episode at this rate!! 🤣🙂
No to light fitting. Like the paint colour. I'm also renovating a 3 bed semi. Hard work but I learn a lot.
Thanks for the opinions Julie! Nice to know other people are on the same journey as us-exactly that, hard work but very rewarding!!
Yay for the ceiling fixture. I kept mine when I bought my house. A ceiling rose could make it match even better 😉
Appreciate the vote, defo gonna go with the majority on this one as we are SO torn! Thank youu ☺
Not keen on the light fixture personally, even sprayed a different colour, but it’s not the worst thing ever and seeing as it comes at Suffolk’s popular price it would be pleasing to see it reused.
You're not wrong Julie, Suffolk can be a a tad overpriced at the best of times! Still pretty torn on whether to give spray painting a go on it, we'll hopefully make a decision by the next episode!
Again we’ll done guys 👍👍
Thanks very much Yvonne!
Watching this in HK!
Not sure how it popped up onto the feed.
Amazing stuff!
Awesome that it popped up on your feed all the way over in HK! Thanks for clicking through! 🙌🏻
Love the coving and the fire place. Just a suggestion - if possible you could always put the tv on another wall and put a large mirror over the fire place, I always think that looks great.
Hey Georgia, thank you!!! We have thought about the idea and Nicky would have loved to do that- but the room is pretty small and cozy so if we had our sofa facing any other direction we’re worried it may not work as well! But- we’re defo open to the idea so will give. It a play when we get some more furniture!! 🤗
Love it. The ceiling light - take the glass shades off - I was around when they come out (80s) and had two lamps of the same design. See what it would look like with the candle bulbs showing without those shades.
Think this could be the perfect middle ground to be honest. Wonder if we could find some similar shades but a more modern version to try and replace them with! Cheers for this Tracy!! 👍🏻🙂
Yeah I think the fixing is quite universal if I remember rightly. Oh, forgot to mention, please wear a mask when sawing/sanding MDF - it is a carcinogenic (poxy stuff) @@NickyandHarri
Good job with shelves looking forward to the video cleaning the paint off the new patio haha looking posh now
I like the colour and we have it in ours. My favourite neutral colour is rust oleum steamed milk
Thanks bud, appreciate the suggestion as well- we’ll have a look at it and may use it in another room! 🙂
Love the colour of paint 😊😊😊😊
Thank you Carol!! 🤗
love the colour of the walls! living room looks amazing! I do unfortunately have to vote against the light 😅 excited for the kitchen reveal!
Thanks Olivia!! Think you’re with the majority against the light so far, can’t wait to show you the kitchen! 🥰
👎🏾 to the light fitting, the glass bits dates it. I personally love coving👍🏾
Thanks bud! Think the majority of the comment section is in agreeable against the light fittings’ glass! 🙂👍🏻
Editing on this was *chef's kiss*
Looking great guys! Absolutely brilliant
Ahahah thanks so much *Chefs kiss to you too
Great work as always!
Thanks Jack. Can't wait to show you the progress tomorrow!
7:55 mad props for the ineffective beep 🤣
About as useful as an elephant in a mine field
Love what you've done. Coving looks great
Thank you Kathy, really appreciate it!!
Love the colour of the living room. I would change out the glass shades on the light fitting for something a bit more modern. Best of both worlds 😊
Thanks Michelle! That’s a fab idea - hadn’t thought of that!! 😍☺️
It's looking gorgeous! Love the fireplace and shelves. That's the thing with Egyptian cotton, it looks different in everyone's homes. I like it though xx
Thanks so much Susan!! We can’t believe how different it looks in every light/ it’s one hell of a crazy paint x
Fire place looks great... I also had a fire place without a fire and so to make it cute put a mirror in the back (car boot find) fire and we put candles of different sizes and some in jars and it looked so cute, especially when the candles were lit with the reflection off the mirror. It's the star of the show of my living room.
Oooo that does sound like a really lovely idea, and something we'll certainly think about! It might not work in our house however as the chimney is still open above it and drops a decent amount of Soot on windy days, it might make the mirror a bit messy! 🙌
Love the coving guys, adds a touch of class
Thanks Matt, we like to think so too!! 🥳🙌🏻
Not a fan of the black brackets, but the rest is looking great. Take your time filling up the shelves with stuff. A few books will help temporary.
A few books will certainly make the difference, thanks Jules.
Absolutely love the paint colour! It’s actually really nice that it looks slightly different as the sun moves around the room! Love the light but not the colour- I’ve seen someone else has suggested spraying it a different colour and I think that’s a great idea!!! Well done guys ❤️ x
Thanks Emily!! Think spray painting it and changing the glass might be the best shout atm- or if it’s too much agg then just buy a new one. 🤣 Thank you 💙
This was a great episode, I love the fireplace, coving and especially the built-ins. I'm not sure if I like the light but fits the room 😂 The paint colour is gorgeous and definitely reads a warm beige to me.
Thanks very much Andrea, we’re glad you like it all (except for the light!) 🤣 Think you’re with the majority on the light though, so it looks like it might be heading out the door. 👍🏻🙂
Love the paint colour! Not so hot on the light fixture, but to be fair with in-keeping knickknacks I can imagine it tying in quite nicely ☺️ can’t wait for the kitchen reveal!
Thanks Charlotte!! The majority is definitely to change the light so far, so it’s looking like a replacement atm. Can’t wait to show everyone the kitchen next ep! 🙂
Gorgeous!!!❤
Thanks Yvonne!🥰
Keep the light it looks great & suits the room now! 👌
Thanks John, it’s definitely grown on me! 👍🏻
Brilliant video yet again. It’s all suddenly coming together isn’t it. Dad and I bought that exact ceiling light in our first home in Camberley - from Argos!😂 so for nostalgic reasons I’d say keep it!! Well done both of you on your hard work. Xx
Thanks Mum! I think we will keep it now you’ve said that!! 💡 Roll on the kitchen - already looking forward to using the quartz cleaner you bought me 🤓 xx
If you are looking to save money it will be much cheaper going to your local timber merchant for the paneling. It's probably 3rd the price. Looks good though
Love the video...been watching you guys progress. Love the Egyptian cotton. I use it and love it..get rid of the light fixture doesn't match however pan out to the whole room might get a different vibe..but the choice is yours 😊 x
Thank you Karen, we do like it (most of the time!). Think the overall consensus is to get rid of the fixing atm, will wait and see when some more opinions come in! 🙂 x
Paint the living room light black to match the shelf brackets!
Oooo defo could work. Looks like the overall consensus atm is to get rid though!!
Would love to have seen a feature wall in wallpaper, Find painted walls a bit stark! I love wallpaper ❤ ❤❤❤gives a touch of elegance and makes a room feel warmer.
Hey Caroline, we would love to do this at some point- but worry wallpaper can be quite an acquired taste and paint seams the safe bet for now (in case we end up selling in the near future!). ❤
@@NickyandHarri yeah that’s fair enough
Its been 2 weeks already😳love the videos❤️
Time is flying atm- thanks so much!! ❤
I wasn't a fan of the black shelf brackets, but I love the idea of keeping the light fitting and painting it black. It seems a pity to discard it and it would tie in with the brackets beautifully. Great work on the renovation. I have been watching since the beginning Really looking forward to full kitchen reveal.
Thanks very much, so cool to know people have been watching along from the beginning and have been on the journey with us so far. We can't wait to show you the kitchen reveal tomorrow!!
You must be feeling so proud with all your achievements so far Nicky & Harri.
I love Egyptian cotton on the main wall, it's calming but at the same time warm & cosy. The shelving & units look awesome. The fire surround is such a good find & looks so good! I don't feel the light fitting is in keeping with the room now. Could the shades be changed? I'm so looking forward to seeing more of the kitchen. I've been renovating my U shaped staircase. I've sanded all the old paint from the Newell Ball caps & I plan to use clear stain on those. The wood is beautiful under the many layers of paint. I'm going to try the eggshell wood paint on the spindles. Love your content. Thank you so much ❤x
I'm definitely a fan of the coving, great design choice too!! 😊x
Thanks so much for your comment Harley! Really glad you’re keen on the fire mantle as much as we are, we thought the same about just changing the shades to be honest- it could be a really good middle ground between traditional and modern!
A staircase renovation is right up our street, give it a few licks of eggshell paint and it’ll come up an absolute treat! Thanks so much for your support and best of luck with the stairs! We can’t wait to show you the kitchen next episode!! 🥳🙌🏻🥰
Thank you so much 😊
I'm so excited to see more!
Have a great week ❤x
❤loves this Coving
Thanks Betty!!! 🥰
Love what you’ve done with the room but I think if you do keep the light fitting then maybe try removing the glass that’s surrounding the bulbs as it makes the fitting look slightly outdated 👌
Seems like a really good compromise, and something we had already had a little thought about ourselves! Cheers Dan! 👍🏻🙂
The house is looking great well done, I do property developing myself and always go over budget by a few grand but it’s worth it to get the right finish, keep smashing it 💙
Thanks Wayne, didn’t know you did house developing! Think it must be worth going a couple of grand over for the effect it’ll have, seems silly to come all this way and then get stingey at the end! Cheers bud 👍🏻💙
@@NickyandHarri your doing a great job I can’t wait to see your kitchen
Keep the colour, I like that it looks different in the light
Thanks Sarah :)
Paint the shelf brackets to match the wall and shelves so they blend in.
It's currently under debate in our household 🤔
You guys have smashed it once again , will you be transforming the driveway too or just the bits shown, I look forward to the next one 🙏❤️
Thank you! ❤️☺️ yess defo doing the driveway soon!!
Your most welcome 🙏, that’s great I can’t wait for that video ❤
You are both an inspiration! Ps. Keep the light fitting itself but change the 'round glass shades' to come thing simpler, but still glass.
This is exactly what i was thinking, struggling to find some nice cheap replacements to pop around the bulbs though- I'll keep looking, thank you!!
personally not a massive fan of the chandelier, but i think if you can maybe make the glass a sort of smokey white? it might not be so bad with a decent shine to it? paint colour is nice too!
Exactly what I was thinking!! A lot more people are team ‘get rid’ than we expected so far though… Glad you like the paint! 🙌🏻
Looking great you guys, love the colour, probably would get a black light fitting if it were me - *looks up* - oh, I have! lol 😂
Thanks Marc, really appreciate it! Made us chuckle there. 🤣
Yes carboot sales!
Hell yeaaahhhhh
Keep the light fixture in the living room but paint or spray paint it black
Thanks Gaza, think we’re liking the idea of the spray painting! 🙂
Also change the bulbs for the industrial filament style ones (led) and lose the glass balls.
Great to see you two doing what you do. This have have been asked before, ut as you don't verbally promote Ryobi tools, they make several appearances in your videos.
Are you hoping for a sponsorship or are you already sponsored by them?
Thanks bud! We’ve been gifted the tools by them (so not officially sponsored), but we feature their tools in our videos as a thank you! 🙂
Great update. Are you going to give us an update on your kitchen soon?
Thanks Joanne, the reveal will be next episode!!!! 🥳
@@NickyandHarriwoohoo! Very exciting. You’ve done a lot to your house already and it looks amazing just think when winter hits and you are sitting indoors all cosy you will be proud of your efforts so far and glad you did it
@@joannesberkshirescenes2099 so true!!! That thought is the best thought in the world right now!! ❄️☃️🧣🧤🎅🏼
Aww love yr lounge. Lucky u guys are soo good at DIY. I wish my husband was he's useless lol so am I. Well done guys love it. U welcome to come and do mine lol jo xx
Thanks Jo, definitely took us a little while to get good at DIY- we were absolutely crap before we put loads of time into trying to learn the trades!! We’ve got faith that you could defo do yours. 😅 x
@NickyandHarri
My husband is useless lol he tried putting a chair up in the dinning room I sat on it chair come apart lol. He's good at decorating that's it. We'll done guys yr house is looking lovely. I'm jealous lol jo xx
I just CANNOT wait for the kitchen up date , it;s all looking good we tried putting up coving what a mess we made LOL
We can't wait to show you Pamela!!! It took us a few tries to get the hang of it but once we got going it went up really nicely!!
Love the build, that light fitting has to go 😃
Thank you!! Probably right 😢🤣
The lounge looks beautiful I love the shelves, get rid of the light fitting it’s so dated lol 😂
Thank you! Hahaha we love the honesty - it’s exactly what we need!! when you do so much work on the house it’s hard to have an opinion anymore 😂 😅
Looking smart.
I like the old light fitting lots💡👍
Still £330K 😂
Thanks! Us too - it’s kinda classy😂❤
I love Egyptian cotton.. my whole is that colour 🤣
OK I'll change my value prediction to £313k - not sure what it is about coving, but it always makes a room feel posh. Good to see in the comments you're already seeking a rose. I really love that you reused some kitchen cabinets, those things are built to last after all. In the spirit of recycling and reusing, I honestly like that lounge chandelier so I think you should keep it. I think you hated it initially because of how old and unloved the room previously was. Sometimes older light fixtures just bounce off the condition of the room they are in, you know?
A really nice comment, thanks very much!! 100% with you, they’re made to last and the carcasses were in great Knick- so would have been a real shame to waste them (We also sold the others off for some petty cash!). Think you’re dead right about the pendant light, it really changed our opinion when the room started developing around it, at first we absolutely hated it! 🤣 We can’t wait to show you all our kitchen, and thanks again for the support!! 🙌🏻
The ceiling fixture is a definite no, needs to be junked. You’ve made the room look relatively modern now and that ceiling light is old and hideous 😂. “Classy” it certainly isn’t. Looks like something your great Aunt Mildred would’ve had. Needs to be something brushed chrome, B&Q lighting dept have got some stunning options for living rooms
Aunt Mildred 😆 We'll have a shop around!
Gunmetal or pewter would look better, just my opinion👍. Great work tho, love following you guys on your journey👌👌
Appreciate your support and advice bud! 🙌
The glass on the ceiling light could be upgraded then it'd be fine - the bulbous looks silly
Think you’re spot on with that!
@@NickyandHarri maybe some oil lamp shape glass?
Can I ask, where do you get your wood from? Struggling to find the cheapest wood in the uk!
Honestly, we use Wickes for the free easy delivery - it’s pretty hard when youre in the sticks and don’t have a van 🚙🚚 so can’t say we get it super cheap! sorry we can’t help more!
The skirting mitres ☠
We only filmed the worst parts we promise… we’ll show you next episode! 🥲
When filling look for a product called easifill filler so easy to sand much better than trying to sand plaster, n thanks for setting my alexa off😂😂😂
What colour paint is on the bk wall ?
Dulux Egyptian cotton!
Get rid of the old ceiling lamp. And really wasn't keen on black shelf brackets :-/
That's a shame, we're digging them for now (might paint them in the future) 🤔
corrr is that tv straight?!! ILLEGAL
Luckily she’s on an adjustable mount so can be straight or on a wonk 🤪
skirting looks abit rough mate
Somehow we only had footage of one corner and it was our worst by far… will show you more in the next ep 👍🏻
Here it’s called crown molding
how funny- is that over the pond i'm assuming?
Nah I’m the ceiling to wall line in the living room
How much did it cost you for the plastering?
£450
@@NickyandHarri seems like a really good price. I can plaster myself but at price it’s not worth the hassle learning. Always look forward to seeing how your progressing on with the project. Just finished my renovation and moving onto my next soon. It gets quite addictive especially if you make a decent profit. Keep up the good work!
Why didnt you guys do the plastering by yourself?
for £350 a room it would have been a waste of time
Those skirting mitres are a bit rough.
Not our best corner I must admit/ we’ll. show you our improvement in the next episode
No to the light .unles you spray it black
Think that’s the majority so far! 🙌🏻
Please change the light 😢😂
I still say the value will be £314k x
Nah that light fitting needs to go in the bin 😂
Another person to add to the list of binning the light fitting 😆
Dammit I was enjoying this video till the Chelsea top made an appearance 😂
Hahahah, sorry pal. Not a proud time to be wearing a Chelsea shirt either! 🤣
👍🏼👫🏚️🏡🪜🛋️
To be honest we would love to learn, but for £350 it wouldn't have been worth the time it would have taken us (for a way worse finish)
will you sell it in the end muhahaha
only time will tell! Think we’ve got the renovation bug 🐛 🤷🏼♀️😅
“I’m not gonna lie” is your most overused expression by both of you 😂
Also, why oh why didn’t you paint those shelving brackets white before you put them up or better still buy white ones? They stick out like a sore thumb on that wall being black, quite surprised as you’re obviously into attention to detail - would’ve looked so much nicer if you’d just painted them white, wouldn’t see them then.
'I'm not gonna lie', I was a fan of the black accents and we thought we would try and tie it in to make it modern/traditional!
@@NickyandHarri😂😂
show us the kitchen before i unsubscribe
But you’re such a valued subscriber 😢
The coving looks great , i would paint the shelf brackets same as walls and just put a simple lamp shade up. Great job looks fab can’t wait to see the kitchen 👏🏻
Thanks Tracy, we can't wait to show you the kitchen tomorrow! Currently sat in typing this comment now and we seriously can not believe how far it has come... 🙌
