  • Where do you find your Zippos?
Finding Zippo's can vary from collector to collector, it can be word of mouth, Facebook marketplace, Ebay, retail websites, pawnshops, fleamarkets, garage sales. It may depend on where you live, or what social media platforms you are active in. However, here are some of the places where I find and get my Zippos.

Where do you find most of your Zippos at?

I love my yard sales but the most lighters I’ve ever bought from one location had to be the actual zippo counter in the great smoky mountain knife works in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Never have I ever seen prices so low for brand new lighters. All collectors must make this pilgrimage to the smoky mountains. My next pilgrimage will be to Pennsylvania though

Trading is the most fun! Flea markets allow for the best haggling. Antique shops if you collect other stuff, too. And like you say, chat with everyone and leave a printed sheet or card with your name and what you buy. You never know when you’ll get a call. Good video JRO

      Absolutely!
You taught me to always ask for more and that has paid off already 😁

I find Zippos in every place you mentioned lol. Plus it never hurts to always ask at antique and second hand stores plus yard and estate sales. I've picked up a few that way that weren't out for sale at the time yet.

Another great informative video Jon. Ebay is the staple buying platform in UK. When in USA I hit the antique malls!! Zippo meetings like Bradford PA and the UK Zippo meeting provide the personal interaction and that is really great. Facebook sites like Deal or No Deal are also well used and very good. It all depends on personal preference!!

Ah, thanks for the shout out!! You forgot one other venue, smoke shops! They are more popular up north. For example. When we were over the road, I was able to complete my Zippo Sports series at a smoke shop, he sold them at base price! I was so excited! Thanks, again!!

      Yes!
I usually forget about smoke shops, but yes I’ve had a couple good finds or sales at them. Sometimes they have a bunch of empty Zippo boxes from people just taking the lighters and leaving the box

Gas stations have some interesting finds sometimes, depending on the area.

eBay, Market Place and Antique stores the most but can be over priced. I have to talk them down. Just because it’s old doesn’t mean is worth a lot. Then face book groups, Zippo store. Asking for Zippo gift cards is aways a good idea.

      😂 very true.
Amazing people say for early 2000 Zippos “it’s 20 years old and still works”
      ….wellllll it’s has a lifetime guarantee so I would hope so. 😂

Yup! It’s amazing that the two Zippos I have of his, he had them engraved with the two things mentioned on his obituary. 70 years earlier!
Never met the man, but I will keep a piece of his history with me

Sad to hear of your poor outcomes at yard sales because man, I found more than half my collection at them. Between Tennessee and Nevada have easily found 25 at yard sales. I love a good yard sale anyway so I’m always down check it out and sometimes I’m really rewarded with tobacco history

      That is awesome!
Yeah idk what it is. They are just harder to find in Mississippi I guess.

@@JRO_Lights having lived across that Southeast section I can say the farther south I go the less yard sales I see. It might be a Yankee thing to be honest. Tennessee is chock-a-block full when you get close to the Appalachian mountains and I feel like almost the entire state of Kentucky has a real possibility as well. Finding the retirement zones is the best place to strike upon.
