    Excellent instructional video! I'm just in the process of installing my Tacos on my Andros 32 OffShore. So if I understand it correctly, you use the rubber band in place of a release clip, can you use either? The tag line serves two purposes, one, it reduces the amount of slack when a fish hits and breaks the rubber band, and secondly, you won't have to bring the clip back down, it automatically brings it to you, is that correct?

      Yes, the rubber band serves as your release clip on tag lines. And, yes your two purposes are correct-- in addition theres no release clips on the market that can safely handle the drag seen by high speed trolling, so tag lines are about the only way to do it with outriggers.

    awesome video!!! I always use a 30lb rod set up. I'm afraid that in my case the elastics won't break. that is, I will try to explain myself better, I fish with 11 pounds of resistance on the strike, should my elastic break at the pull of 11 pounds? please be patient, I'm a novice, I have no experience, I would like to learn

      I'm not an expert when it comes to Tag-Lines, but I'm pretty sure that the rubber band comes in to play first, regardless of what you set your drag at. After a fish hits, and the rubber band breaks, the line gets straight and taught, that is when the drag comes in to play. Good luck and tight lies :-)

    Isn't there a reusable clip alternative to polluting with rubber bands? You could at least use a planner board clamp and have it pinch a tag line attached to a swivel that you run your line through. When a strike happens the clamp will let go and the swivel with tag line will run down your line to your terminal tackle.

      I don't see any reason why a roller troller flat line clip couldn't be used in place of a rubber band.

    What is the advantage to using a tag line when the outrigger gets you out away from the boat already?

    • @tkuwaye
      @tkuwaye Před 4 lety

      The advantage of using a tag line is the minimization of slack in the line that occurs after the rubber band breaks making for a better hook set. The tag line tries to create the same scenario if you were just trolling a line behind the boat straight from the pole. Thus the tagline gets you the best of both worlds having it set further out with the aide of the outrigger but also getting your line as far back to increase hook sets.

    Can you run your tag line on the long as shown and still run a short regular line ( outrigger release clip ) off the same rigger ? Or does running a tag line mean only one line off that rigger ?
