There are a lot of people slamming them for not writing their own songs. The article I read was that the guy who wrote this song couldn't find the singer with the right voice to sing this song properly. They came across a band called Gloss, changed their name to Bros, they were the right band in the right place at the right time and, boy, they nailed it. This song gives me goose bumps every time. The members of Bros have all gone on to have successful careers. So as to whether they wrote songs or didn't write songs, who cares, they are talented.
Apparently not talented enough since the lead singer is lipping to his own girlfriends voice on this track.
Pple these days dont even write there music. They are such hyoocrites these days. Uf wgat was allowed tiday was allowed bk thn. Man we wouldve had alit more good songs out back then then what wehave now. So sad that what is allowed now wasnt back then. Sucks to b honest
It’s not like the Goss twins didn’t write their own songs with the subsequent Bros albums. They needed a start and both Nicky Graham and Tom Watkins gave them a fantastic start.
Nothing wrong with songwriters and singers coming together. They help each other.
it's the media spin of "we write all our own songs" which helps to give young people belief that it's not "just a manufactured boy band or just a manufactured girl band that I like, these are real musicians and songwriters". They're credible.
When you're older and confident you don't give a monkeys about who wrote it, played on it, sang it - if I like it, I like it, and I'll play it loud :-)

I grew up in the 80s and vividly remember despising this song and the video. What a masochistic joy it is to come back to.
I've always got the ironic it was a slightly sarcastic song, which is of course ironic for the industry. It doesn't come across very well because it's sung so enthusiastically!

Back in 88 in England when I was 12 my local barber had a price list on the wall and he added "Bros Cut £5.00" to it. I rocked that cut proudly..Well for about a year anyways, then I got into the stone roses and grew my hair out long and lanky curtain style lol

In 1987, when this song was released, I was 12 years old. My big sister had a poster with the Goss twins on her wall (along with Kylie Minogue, Madonna, George Michael, among others) and she played their songs. I was an Elvis Presley and Tommy Cash kind of girl, and I had the walls covered with Elvis pictures ! 100% nostalgia!

I grew up in the 80s and I can say Bros was up there with the greatest stars. Matt as a fantastic voice. Very nice looking still is in 2023. He still is handsome and still a great legend.

Wow! Sometimes I wish back in 1988. I go to school, meet my friends, have a nice WE, see my sister, and evereything is allright. Now? Reality! I´m a mother of two children and in a few day is my 46th B´day. I can`t believe that sooooo much time has gone....but now? I´m fine, I go to work every day, love my kids and see my sisters & brother. I have a big house with cat & dog & my lovely husband. But sometimes.....I´m still in ´88 and I love this time! So much....noone can touch it and take it away. I´m Mother, I´m wife, I´ workin.....but I´m still alive & love BROS 4 EVA!.

Still have the Push LP, the cassette and the VHS live concert as proof I lived through Brosmania to the fullest. Unless you were right up there with me you shall never understand. Still drive a car with a fully functional cassette player in 2024 just because. We were the lucky ones imho.

I was about 7 when this came out. Bros were huge back then. My uncle used to be huge fan, he was about 13 at the time. I still remember a lot of their singles to this day. They were definitely the first group who I recognised as famous. They used to be on Saturday morning tv all the time

I came across Bros for the 1st time in yr6 or yr7 when my friend visited England and brought me back a video of Bros, video as in VHS tape. I didn't really like them at first but their songs are easy to sing a long to plus their songs are pretty catchy I have to admit.
