Beijing airport (PEK): International arrival at the Terminal 3

  • Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) is the main international airport serving Beijing. Beijing Capital added Terminal 3 in 2008 in time for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, the second largest airport terminal in the world. It is also the second busiest airport in the world.
    This video shows the arrival process at terminal 3. It also shows the resources than are available in the arrival area.
    We also show the three transportation options to reach the city center: (1) the Airport Express which connects to the subway network; (2) buses that can take you to various places in the city (cheapest option); or (3) taxis.
    The Airport Express operates from 06h21 to 22h51. The fare is 25RMB, payable in cash. You can also pay using the transportation card (Yikatong). The card can be purchased at the ticket counter of the Airport Express. Here is a map of the Beijing subway: explorebj.com/subway/
    You can also watch our video on how to use the Beijing subway: • How to ride the Beijin...
    There are many buses that can take you to various places in Beijing. This is the most economical mode of transportation. The list of bus lines as well as their stops, fares and schedules can be found on the official airport website: en.bcia.com.cn/traffic/airbus/...
    Taxis are the simplest way to reach your destination in Beijing. The fare to the center of the city is about 90 to 125RMB. Taxi drivers do not speak English. You need the name of your hotel as well as the address in writing in Chinese. This can usually be found on the hotel website. Taxis in Beijing use the meter. If your driver proposes a fixed rate, get out and take another taxi. In addition to the amount shown on the meter, you may have to pay the toll. Minivans are also available for larger families.

    Thank you much for posting this. I fly SEA-PEK-CTU in a few weeks via Hainan and had concerns about navigating PEK. I am not checking any baggage, so this eases my mind a little more. Very helpful!

      rainier53094 Hainan Airlines use terminal 2 for international flight and terminal 1 for domestic flight. This video is about Terminal 3, so I don't think this is what you are looking for. T1 and T2 are older and smaller terminal that's easier to navigate. Just walk through the corridor connecting T1 and T2 after passing immigration and costume for transferring to a Hainan domestic leg.

      Thank you Brant. I appreciate it, for all the negative things I've heard of PEK it really looks stunning. I have 5 hours outbound and 3 hours on the return to explore.

    • @zliu4208
      @zliu4208 Před 7 lety

      T2 is quite small, so there won't be much to explore. However, Hainan just opened their new VIP lounge in T2 today. If you flied with their business class you might have the chance to enjoy their new lounge. Though, I am not sure what kind of passengers are identified as VIP by Hainan airline.

    Another great vid; it's a shame more people don't give you a thumbs up, as I am sure they benefited from the info.! Questions 1. do all international flights arrive at Terminal 3? Is the access to the Airport Express on the same floor as the ticket kiosk? What metro station does the Airport Express connect with? I also think a vid showing how to get to domestic terminals from the metro would be helpful. Thanks again!

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment. The terminals in PEK are not organized based on international or domestic. It is based on the airline. If you wish to know at which terminal an airline lands, check on the airport website. The airport Express entrance gate and the trains are just next to the ticket kiosk that you see in the video. At 3m38sec we moved the camera left towards the tracks.

    So for 144 hour visa free exemption, you don't need to fill out form here at immigration but do it at your hotel?
    Do we need to take any form, or all hotels should have the forms?
    Excellent video to show where to go especially bank ATMs.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 5 lety

      For the visa exemption, you have to fill a blue form that you pick up at the airport. The hotel has nothing to do with the visa exemption.

      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 7 lety

      This video is about terminal 3. You need to check where your flight lands. could be at terminal 2. If it is at terminal 3 then the video shows you where to go for an international transfer. Regarding your luggage, impossible for me to tell. you need to check with your airline.

      The minimum connect time is one hour so you should be fine. No need to pass through immigration and customs. See in the video where we show where to go for international transfers. Make sure that your luggage is checked all the way through.

    I will be traveling from Almaty, Kazakhstan to PEK and 12 hours later I catch a flight to the United States of America. If my luggage is not checked in Kazakhstan all the way to the USA and I have to pick up the luggage in PEK will I need a Chinese visa for the 12 hours I am in the airport but not necessarily in the secured area? I do not plan to leave the airport but may have to leave the secure area to pick up luggage and then immediately go back into the airport secure area to check in the luggage for the USA flight.

      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 5 lety

      Depends. Are both flights in the same terminal? If yes and your first flight is on time then should be fine. The SIM card booth in T3 is in the luggage area. In T2 it is in the main hall.

      It depends. It depends whether your luggage is checked through and whether both flights are in the same terminal. s you can see in this video at the 55 second-mark, it is possible in terminal 3 to go directly to your next gate after passing security.

      That's not how I understand the Air China website. It seems to be saying baggage is checked through via Beijing to other domestic cities so since we are connecting on to Japan I think if we checked bags we would need to collect them and go through the whole process.

    We will be traveling from Newark and have a layover at the end of the month in Beijing for around 3 1/2 hours before we travel onto Bangkok. When we get off the AirChina plane what will we have to do exactly? I know this gives an overview but I’m worried about specifics. Assuming we will not have to re- check our luggage as we are flying AirChina the entire trip. Do I have the order correct? Gather the landing card, go to international transfer, go through immigration temperature scanner, then immigration security check then we are free to go to our gate?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 4 lety +1

      Your luggage should be checked all the way. You do not need a landing card as you are in transit. You follow the crowd to immigration but rather than going through immigration, you just pass security on the left as shown on the video then head to your gate. Very simple.

      Thanks for your good comment. Understand that this video is about terminal 3. Hainan airlines' international flights arrive in terminal 2 and their domestic flights depart from terminal 1. So you will not be able to proceed to your domestic gate directly as in this video. It is a short walk between these two terminals. Terminal 2 is smaller than terminal 3 shown in this video. But I believe that you have plenty of time between flights.

    This is the worst Airport I've ever been too, security at immigration are massively over aggressive, shouting at you all the time, it's like your first day in prison or something, then there is the fact there is literally nothing to do here, it's huge but just boring as hell, we did not see a single store where you could buy snacks, drinks etc other than a few Costa Coffee and a KFC and a Pizza Hut, they did have these vending machines that did not take card only Chinese currency, or We chat which no one uses outside of China, I mean seriously if you fly through Beijing to another country why would you have Chinese currency? I went to a Costa Coffee in the end and asked for a coke (which they sell at my local) and the girl laughed in my face which I found very odd,avoid this airport at all cost It's just not tourist friendly at all.

      II. Gyula why don’t you just take subway? The airport in Beijing much much convenient than the airport in New York , San Francisco,LA , Frankfurt, Paris etc
