Recording Harp for LEAVES' EYES - Sign of the Dragonhead

- Back in September 2017 I did the harp recordings for Leaves' Eyes latest album "Sign of the Dragonhead" which is out now!
There is a beautiful acoustic version of "Fairer than the Sun" on the Japan-Edition, so make sure to check that one out!
It was great fun working with Leaves Eyes again, as I already contributed on their album "King of Kings" back in 2015. The harp just fits perfectly to their epic and celtic/viking influenced music. I am really proud to be a part of the album.

thank you. First of all let me say very nice playing and you get a great sound. rarely does a player get such good sound. The one thing I would do different is (though not really different), is I put the large diaphragm mic the same distance away as the height of the harp. So if your harp is 1.8m tall, I put the mic 1.8 meters away. So we are saying the same thing, but in my case it is not a "guessing value" shall we say. It can be pretty exact.

A very nice video of your recording process, thank you. May I ask you a few questions: which mic do you prefer for your harp, the Rode or the Schertler? Do you merge the recordings of the mics into one stereo track or do you keep them as L/R? The sticky paste can be completely removed and reused, correct? Many thanks!
